Hit, Or Complete Miss?

8. Chapter 8

Niall's mum drove them both to the train station, and waved them good-bye. Ariana payed for her ticket and waited for Niall to pay for his, and they both jumped on the train. It was a good 4 hour journey to Dublin that afternoon, and Ariana had finished cleaning the house, and had given the key to the new owner. She no longer lived there.

Niall spent the journey warming up his voice for the audition, and Ariana loved how he could sing so perfectly, every note right key. When they were a little younger, he'd sing lullabys to her and rock her to sleep, because he was only that little bit older.

Niall paused, and turned towards her.

Ariana smiled, and opened her mouth again.

" I'm going to wish you luck. You'll do great. Listen to yourself. Oh, and, one more thing".

She turned to face him, but he was already facing her.

" I want to give you this".

She passed over a two plane tickets.

"I would like you to visit me sometime next year when your famous, k?"

He smiled a loving smile, and gave her a hug.

"Thank you Ari-angel" he whispered through her hair, and kissed her on the cheek. He plucked the tickets out of her hand, and studied them for a minute or two.

"These expire next...March! Wow, that's literally...a year!"

Ariana smiled at the hapiness and the grateful tone he used, and it made her want to hug him again. But instead, she pulled her iPod out of her pocket and listened to her own music, a large smile plastered on her glowing, red cheeks.

There was a sudden jolt, and Ariana's eyes snapped open. Niall was waving his hands in front of her, laughing like an idiot.

"Ariana...WERE HERE!"

"Okay, okay, Niall, I don't need you yelling in my face!"She pushed him aside and got up. As she did so, she almost fell, and Niall reached out and caught her.

"Carefull, Ari".

She smiled weakly, and pulled herself out of his arms, and out of the train, her Union Jack suitcase trailing behind her. Niall had a similar suitcase, but his was more groovy, a strange skull with flaring eyes in the middle.

"Ariana, come on, wait up! Wait's wrong? You seem a little...agitated".

Ariana continued walking. She tried to block out his voice, but that was proving impossible.

"Oi, you!"

Niall reached out and pulled Ariana's shoulder. She was yanked backwards into Niall, who tripped on his suitcase, and both of them ended up in a heap on the floor. A crowd walked around them, sighing and glaring at them with discusted looks, some walking by as if they were meant to actually be there.

Ariana picked herself up, as well as her suitcase, and hurried away from Niall, leaving him placed on top of his suitcase, staring after her with sorry and guilty eyes.

Ariana found herself out of the station, standing on the curb calling for a taxi, when Niall dropped his suitcase beside her.

"Come on, Ari, what's up?"

"I heard you. I heard you on the phone to your 'mate'. Why do you have things on speaker anyway?"

"Oh, oh my God. Ariana, that was..."

Before he could finish, a taxi parked on the curb, and Ariana climbed in with her suitcase, Niall following shortly after. She belted up, and watched Niall do the same, but when he turned towards her, she flicked her hair in his face, and watched out the window.

"X-Factor auditions, Hall".

The driver nodded in the mirror, and drove off. The whole way was a silent and rather bumpy drive around Dublin, but it was pretty scenic too. Ariana was just glad that tomorrow she'd be on the plane to New York, away from the problems that were left with her now.

As soon as they arrived, they joined the vast que leading all the way up to the main doors, where the magic was going to happen.

"Ariana. Listen to me. Jessie only said that because she wants to make you jelous. She knew you were there. Ariana, please".

His words were pure, and meaningful, but Ariana didn't know whether he was making this up or not. He'd never actually lied to her before, but what if he was literally telling the truth?

"I dunno, you sounded pretty truthful when you said I'm annoying. I mean, come on, who could miss that? Your Irish accent was at the height of it's peak. It sounded too truthful".

Niall narrowed his eyes.

"Are you making fun of my accent? Are you making fun of where we are now? Are you doubting me? Come on Ariana, I've never lied before!"

She felt herself shrug automatically, and sort of held her hand out.

"Hold it. I believe you. And no, I'm not making fun of your accent. I'm telling you something factual. Your full Irish, which makes your accent at the height of it's peak. Correct?"

He smiled that gorgous smile, and entwinted his fingers in hers. Then he kissed her on the cheek, and pulled back.

"Your taste".

Ariana laughed madly, and nudged him.

"Love you really, Nialler".
