9. Waking up and talking

Charlotte's POV

I woke up to a feeling of warmth next to me, a hand was resting on my arm, and another wrapped around me. I could also feel hot breathe rippling my hair. I moved slightly to see Liam snuggled close to me, his arm around me, in a protective way, like he was afraid that I wouldn't be there when he woke up.

I smiled, even after everything he was still protective of me. My smile grew wider as I remember all of yesterday. 24 hours ago I was sitting at home, contemplating buying tickets to see him and his band in concert. Now I was snuggled in his arms. A lot had happened in those hours. I had gone from hurting over Liam, to hating him, to kissing him passionately and declaring my love for him.

I was still in my train of thought, when Liam's eyes snapped open, he stared down at me and smiled.

"Umm... If this is how I will be waking up every day when I'm with you, then I could get used to it." He mumbled.

I laughed, slapping his arm playfully, he smiled again before leaning down to capture my lips in his. I will never stop loving this, being with him.

"Hmm...I love this." His hand brushed hair behind my ear. "I missed being able to look in your eyes. I was able to know what you were thinking, just by looking at you. When I left, I tried to not think about you, but my heart never made me forget, and whenever I thought of you, I always wondered if you found someone else, whether he would know what you were thinking, or would he look after you." Liam looked down, not wanting to show me his pain.

"It OK" I pulled his face up to look me in the eyes. "When do you have to be back with the lads?"

Liam pulled out his phone to look at his schedule. "Not until later. I think we should talk though."

I nodded in agreement. It was what I wanted as well.

"You can go first."

"OK. Where did you go once you left? I tried contacting you, but you wouldn't ask me. I thought you hated me, I wouldn't have blamed you if you did."

"I went to my parents. But I didn't stay there long. I moved to London within a week. I got your texts though."

I looked at him questioningly, and he continued.

"I couldn't stay here, everywhere I went, everything I did. I just remembered how much we had shared, and I could face it. I saw you walking in the park, two days after, I wanted to run after you, but...I couldn't face how you would react so I stayed where I was. I stayed in the house for the rest of the week, I was too afraid of seeing you in the street, too afraid that I would watch as you moved on. That's why I moved. Leaving my family was hard, but leaving you was harder."

"So if you got my texts, why didn't you reply. I thought something had happened, because I knew you and I knew you didn't hold grudges against people who hurt you. It just wasn't in your nature."

"I have no excuse, I was scared, I knew that hearing your voice would break my heart more than it already was. Even listening to my voice mail message, hearing you laugh as I tickled you was too much."

I nodded, I could understand what he was saying, and I understood why he never looked for me, or answered my calls and texts. The last thing I said was that I hated him, and that I wanted him to go.

"You tried calling me the same day I left. Why?"

I thought for a second, What was I going to say, 'that I was wrong, and even though I was being selfish, toying with his feelings, I wanted him to come home.'

I shrugged, "I missed you," as soon as the words left my mouth, I started crying. Liam moved and wrapped his arms around me, as I cried "I jumped to conclusions, I made an assumption, and I realized I was wrong when I found the torn picture, the note and...." I pulled out of Liam embrace, as I reached around and unclasped my necklace, I watched as he stared at me shocked and confused. "...the ring." I finished handing him the necklace.

He took it, and began examining the necklace, and the ring. I watched as he ran his finger over the ring, tears welling in his eyes.

"You kept it?" He choked out.

"I had too, I forced you away, and you took everything with you, including my heart. It was all I had that made my feel like you were still sitting beside me."

"I remember buying this. I spent 3 hours in the shop, looking for the perfect ring for you." He smiled.

I looked at him feeling guilty for giving him 2 years of heartbreak.

"Can I ask you something? If you were planning on asking me to marry you, then who was that unknown number?"

"There was several, the one you saw was off my cousin, she's a wedding planner. I was so sure you'd say yes, that I began planning everything, like my suit and the venue."

You stare at him, "I love you Liam, I would of said yes. I just wish I hadn't jumped to conclusions."

"It's alright, I should of come up with something to make you believe me." Liam passed me my necklace back, and I shivered our hands touched.

"I want to give us another go." Liam looked at me shocked, and I wondered if it was the wrong thing to say. "I mean, if you want to, if you've got a girlfriend then...."

Liam placed his lips on mine, cutting of what I was going to say, when he pulled back, he looked in my eyes. "I want to give us another go, it's just...."

"Just what?"

"The fans. Louis has a girlfriend, and the fans send her hate, and all my previous girlfriends have had hate, I don't want you to have to put up with that."

I moved towards him, and sat in his lap. "I don't care, I've had my heart torn away from me for two years, I want it back, and I'll face anything to get it."

Liam smiled at that. "You mean it?"

I nodded. "The fans can hate me, I just want you."

Liam leaned in, and kissed me. "I want you too. I love you."

"I love you too."
