36. The Wedding Part 3

Diamond's P.O.V

Summer looked at me excitedly at the head table of the hotel’s function room as Max rapped a spoon against a glass and the speeches began. I fumbled nervously with my hands in my lap, going over and over my speech in my head and not even listening to what the other speakers were saying; Summer’s dad and Louis. I should have written it down because now I was so nervous I couldn’t remember the start of it. My heart beat widly as Louis sat down and everyone applauded. I was next and there was to be no running into the toilets this time. Eleanor grabbed my trembling hand and assured me I would be fine. I smiled back at her shakily, not feeling at all fine. Summer’s father announced that I was going to speak and the room turned to face me. All I could see was a sea of faces. I stood up slowly from my chair and glanced over at Liam and Zayn who were in between me, for encouragement. They winked at me.

I smiled back at them and my heartbeat slowed. My friends were all there. I spotted Andrew sitting a table with his and Edward’s friends. Andrew gave me the thumbs-up and my speech went out the window as a new one formed in my head. I cleared my throat. “Please forgiveme if I get a little emotional while I speak but I am just so happy for Summer and Andrew today. They are my best friends…”, I paused and glanced down at the boys and the girls, “…well, two of them”. The room laughed. “And I am so proud of them today and delighted that she has found love with a wonderful man like Andrew”, I smiled as I saw tears fill Summer’s eyes. The girl who never cried. “Finding someone you love and who loves you back is a wonderful, wonderful feeling. But finding a true soul mate is an even better feeling. A soul mate is someone who understands you like no other, loves you like no other, will be there for you forever, no matter what. They say that nothing lasts for ever, but I am a firm believer in the fact that for some, love lives on even after they’re gone. I know a thing or two about having someone like that and I know that Summer has found a soul mate in Andrew. Summer, I’m glad to tell you that a bond like that will never die”, a lump formed in my throat and I took a moment to compose myself before continuing. “I am both honoured and petrified that Summer asked me to speak today”. Everyone laughed. “But I am delighted to have been asked to share this beautiful day with them and here’s to them having many more beautiful days like this together”.

Everyone cheered and reached for their glasses. “However!”, I raised my voice over the crowd and held my hand up to silent them. The noise died down and once again all eyes were on me. “However, some guests here today will be aware of the list that a marvelous man thought up”, I smiled as Andrew’s table, as well as  the boys and the girls cheered. “And among one of those rules was to never ever wear a spensive white dress”. I giggled as Andrew’s table went wild and Summer broke down into hysterics, remembering the fateful night when the new rule was added to the list. “So, on behalf Edward”, I giggled, “I will forgive you for breaking that rule only because you look so amazing and I will ask you all to join me in a toast to Andrew and Summer and her very, very spensive white dress- and I should know because I was dragged around every bridal shop in Ireland!” the guests in the room all held up their glasses and repeated, “To Andrew and Summer and her very, very spensive white dress!”. I took my seat and Perrie and Eleanor hugged me with tears in their eyes, “That was perfect, Diamond!” I beamed as Andrew’s table held their glasses up to her and cheered. And then the party began.

Tears formed in my eyes as I watched Andrew and Summer dancing together for the first time as husband and wife, and I remember that feeling. Alex dancing with her husband, Tom. Ruby dancing with her boyfriend, Max. Anna dancing with Josh. The boys were singing on the stage. That feeling of excitement, of hope, of pure happiness and pride, a feeling of to not knowing what the future held but being so ready to face it all. And that thought made me happy; I wouldn’t cry about it, I would embrace it. I had enjoyed every second of my life with Edward, but now it was time to move on. Move on to the next chapter of my life, bringing wonderful memories with me, and experiences that would teach me and help mould my future. Sure, it would be difficult; I had learned that nothing was ever easy. But it didn’t feel as difficult as it had been a few months ago, and in another few months it would be even less difficult.

I had been given a wonderful gift; life. Sometimes it was cruelly taken away too soon, but it’s what you did with it that counted, not how long it lasted. “Will you dance with me?”, a hand appeared before me and I looked up to see Joe smiling down at me. “Sure”, I replied smiling and took his hand and we dance along the music. I then saw Taylor and Ed at the door. They looked like… fighting. I saw Ed rubbed his face whilst Taylor saying something. Then, Ed leaves. Taylor walked out from the room. “You’re beautiful, princess Diamond”, Joe said. “Thank you, Joe”, I replied. There was silence. “Could I have this dance?”, I heard a well-know husky voice asking that from my behind. Joe and me stopped dancing as I turned back to see Harry. “Sure”, Joe said and walked away. I froze. “Diamond?”, Harry said, I gently took his hand. We dance in silence. I don’t know what else to say. “May I say that you’re looking very beautiful tonight?” “You may, Harry”, I smiled. I was happy with how I looked. Summer had chosen a beautiful lilac-coloured dress for me with a corset top that hid me belly, and there was a large slit up the side of the skirt. Lou had done an inspired job with my hair, pinning it up and allowing some curls to tumble down on to my shoulders. I felt beautiful. I felt like Princess Diamond. And I giggled to myself at the thought. “That was a lovely speech you made”, Harry smiled. “I realized that what I said to you was selfish of me. You said you weren’t ready and I didn’t listen”, he apologized. “That’s OK, Harry. I think I’ll be ready for it”, I said smiled to him. “Pardon?”, he asked and frowned. But I can see his smile became wider. I sighed. “I know you hear me, Harry. I said I’m-”, Harry kissed me on the lips as I tried to say the words. I kissed him back. We both kissing until Harry pulled away and I saw Ed was behind him. Tears streaming down his face. I was stunned to see him cried. “What’s going on Ed? Why are you crying?!”, Harry asked as he turned to see Ed who was tapping his shoulder just now. “She dumped me”, he said slowly. I nodded as I know who is ‘she’ by Ed’s mean. Taylor Swift.

Harry’s P.O.V

Me, Ed and Diamond walked outside the ballroom and went to sit on a long bench near the ballroom door. Diamond walked back to the ballroom to take some water for Ed. He sat next to me. “I’m sorry for disturbing you and her just now, Harry. But I can’t. I thought I was something special to Taylor, but I don’t. She’s now getting over me. She’s back with her ex”, Ed explained. I bit my lips, still in silence. “I know it must seem crazy fast to me, but when she didn’t return any of my calls, even I got the hint that she weren’t going to pick up any of my calls. And when she did, I invited her for this wedding and so we both could meet up after being about a month we didn’t see each other. I never got over her because I do love her, but she didn’t”, he continued. “I understood that, Ed. Sorry for the break up but I still think you’re a fool”, I shook my head as I watched Diamond came out from the swug opened door. Ed sighed, “Trust me, I never would have brought her to the wedding. I know me and her have a lot to discuss over the next while, but, like you told me before, for some people love just lives on”, he said. I threw my eyes up to heaven.

“Oh, don’t start quoting me on that one,”I laughed, “Ah well. As long as youre happy, I suppose. Although I don’t see how you ever will be”, I sighed dramatically and Ed laughed. “This is for you, Ed. Drink some”, Diamond said as she handed a bottle of plain water to Ed. “Thanks, Diamond. You’re such a nice girl”. Diamond then nodded and smiled, “Alright, I think I should leave you two for some ‘good friends’ time. Ok I’m going in to the ballroom back”, she said as she walked towards me and gave me a quick kiss on the cheek. I smiled happily. Well, we’re started to dating since ten minutes ago. So, come one! Ed winked at me as I watched Diamond walked back to the ballroom. “Are you kidding me? Since when dude?”, Ed asked. I laughed. “Ten minutes ago?”, I replied. He smiled and nodded. “Youre happy now. I wish I was too”, he said. I sighed. “I am happy, Harry. I guess I just cant live without the drama”, he glanced over the floor. “I need someone who is passionate about me and, for better or for worse, Taylor is passionate. What about you, Harry? Are you happy?”, he studied my face. I thought about it. “Tonight I’m happy. I will worry about tomorrow when tomorrow comes. But I’m getting there…”

Diamond’s P.O.V

I stepped up to the table just inside the door of the function room. As I walked across the room a woman I hadn’t spoken to for months approached me. “Diamond, I was sorry to hear about Edward. He was a lovely man”. “Thank you”, I smiled. I finally reached the bar. “Hi there, Diamond”, a familiar voice behind me said. “Oh, hello, Mr. Conway”, I said, turning to face the large businessman who sponsored the wedding event. He was tall and overweight, with a bright red face, probably due to the stress of running one of Ireland’s most successful business. Well, he was Summer’s father. “I gotta go, Mr. Conway. See you later”, I quickly said as I saw Perrie and Zayn near the stage. “Hey, Diamond!”, another familiar voice behind me said as I walked across the room. “Hi, Daniel! I didn’t know that youre coming too?!”, I replied and was stunned to see Daniel in his tuxedo. He looked even more handsome and adorable. I can’t kept my eyes away from his blue eyes. “You’re looking as lovely as always”, he gave me a kiss on the cheek. “Can I get you a drink?”, he asked, holding his hand up to attract the barman’s attention. “Oh, no, Thanks”, I smiled.

“Ah, let me. Anyway, how are you? You look fab, the dress is fab!”, he sipped on his champagne and looked me up and down. “I’m fine, thank you. You?” “I’m just fab. I know Edward’s not with you tonight for bestfriends’ wedding. I’m so sorry to hear that”, he placed his glass of champagne down on the table next to us and his hands flew to my face, his forehead creasing with worry. “I had no idea. How are you keeping, you poor love?”, he reached out and placed his hand on my arm. “Daniel, I’m fine, thank you”, I repeated, smiling to keep the atmosphere light. “You must be devastated” “Well, yes Daniel, it is hard but I’m dealing with it. Trying to be positive, you know?”, I perked up. “Gosh, I don’t know how you can be. That’s awful news”, his eyes continued to bore into mine. I seemed to look at him differently now. I nodded along and wished this guy would stop telling me what I already knew. “And was he ill?”, he probed. I nodded. “Oh dear, that’s awful. And he was so young”, every word he emphasized became high-pitched screech. “Yes, he was… but we had a happy life together, Daniel”, I said, trying to be as cheery as I could. “Yes, you did, but it’s such a shame it wasn’t a longer life. That’s devastating for you. Absolutely awful and so unfair. You must feel miserable. And how on earth did you come here tonight? With all these couples around?”, he said, I looked around at all the couples as though there was suddenly a bad smell in the air. “Well, Daniel, you just have to learn to move on”, I smiled. “Ofcourse you do. But it must be so difficult. Oh, how awful”, he held his hands up to his face, looking appalled. I smiled and spoke through gritted teeth, “Yes it’s difficult, but like I said you just have to stay positive and move on. Anyway, speaking of moving on, I’d better go and join my friends”, I added politely and was about to dash off but suddenly I felt Daniel grabbed my arm. I turned to face him back.

“Can I help you?”, I asked, frowned. He seemed nervous when I crossed my arms on my chest. “Uhm, wait, before you go, I needed to tell you something…”, he said. “Okay, what is it, Daniel?”, I asked, nervous too when he looked into my eyes. “About us. Is there nothing more left between us? I mean, can’t we get back together? I just miss you more than before, Diamond. I need you more than before. And this time, I promise you, I will not leave you”, he explained. I sighed, then took a very deep breath before I replied to him, “What do you mean by ‘I will not leave you’ are you fucking stupid? You’ve told me that million of times when we were together. I’m over you, so get a life and leave me and my life alone. We are never ever ever getting back together”, I can’t even believe that words coming out from my mouth, he froze to hear that and I dashed off. “You all right?”, Niall asked as I appeared beside him. He was there with Zayn and Perrie before I reached for them. “Yes, I’m fine thank you”. I repeated for the tenth time that night. I glanced over at Daniel, who was in a huddle with his male friends, talking and staring over at me and Niall, Zayn and Perrie. Then, I saw Harry and Ed appeared at the door. Ed did a little dance before joining his friends, attracting stares from around the room whilst Harry made his way to us. He smiled and pecked me on the cheeks.

Harry’s P.O.V

I touched Diamond’s nose and smiled to myself as she wrinkled it up in her sleep. I loved watching her while she was sleeping. She looked like a princess, so beautiful and peaceful. Tickled her nose again and smiled as her eyes slowly opened. “Good morning, to the most beautiful girl in the world!”, I said sweetly. She smiled at me, “Good morning, Harry”, she cuddled closer to me and rested her head on my naked chest. “How are you feeling yesterday? I saw you didn’t really looked happy at the wedding”. “Yes, I’m fine, thank you”, she replied, yawning. “Oh, love, you don’t have to give me that bullshit answer, Diamond. It’s me, your boyfriend”, I laughed. She smiled and groaned, “People were being very nice and all by offering me their sympathies but I feel like I’m back at his funeral again. Having to pretend to be all strong and Superwoman-like, even though all some of them want is for me to be devastated because it’s so awful”, she mimicked someone and rolled her eyes. “And then there’s the people don’t know about Edward and this is so not the place to have to tell them”. I listened to her patiently. I nodded when she finally stopped talking. “I understand what you’re saying, love. When my ex girlfriends and I broke up I felt that for months everywhere I went I was always having to tell people that we broke up. But the good thing is that eventually word goes around so you can stop having those awkward conversations with people all the time” “Any word on Taylor, by the way? I mean, did Ed told you anything bout her?”, Diamond asked. She and the girls especially Summer and Anna enjoyed having bitching sessions about Taylor or anyone else, even though they had never met them. They loved to hear stories about the celebrities’ crush gossips, but Diamond’s not that really kind of that.

My eyes lit up, “Yes, actually, Ed do have told me something about her, yesterday”. “Oh, good, I love a bit of gossip!”, Diamond and I then looked up at the door and saw Summer with Liam and Niall. “Woah, you didn’t locked the door, Harry?”, I turned to look Diamond besides me and shook. She sighed and said, “Luckily, I didn’t have my body naked!”, she yelled as she get up and walked to the bathroom. “Oh, well, good morning, Harry!”, I turned to look at Liam and smiled. “Morning guys!” “Morning, Harry. So what are you and Diamond up to?”, Summer replied. “Well, we’re just spend our time talking on the bed”, I said. “Wait! I’m going to get something to eat!”, Niall laughed as we heard Diamond yelled from the bathroom. “Oh, I see because I would like you two to go down and so we all can have breakfast together”, Summer explained. I nodded as Niall and Liam did it too. “Just give us 10 minutes!”, I said and quickly get up from the bed and went to the closet.
