Luckily, two brave boys are there to help her out, Zayn Malik and Harry Styles from One Direction. Kendall wasn't much of a fan, but the trio starts to bond while running from a killer. When both band members start to develop feelings for her along the way, Kendall finds herself trying to make the hardest decision of her life.

6. Confronting their Fear

"Zayn? Harry? Is that you?" Two pairs of feet walked in sight of the small opening that was my only way out.

"Kendall... Kendall..." I heard voices whispering... chanting my name. I couldn't tell who it was but I hoped it was someone who would rescue me...

"Help! I'm down here!" I called up to the warm bodies. The feet began to move, and I saw that the figures were coming down the dirt slope towards me.

Once they had entered the cave, I saw that it wasn't Zayn or Harry...

I backed up in fear until the wall behind me stopped me. The two figures turned around so I could see their evil faces.

They had bodies, hair, and clothes like Harry and Zayn, but their faces were... deformed. They had dark skin, blood-shot eyes, and razor sharp teeth.

"No... please don't hurt me..." I whimpered. The creatures came closer and closer to me.

I shielded my face with my hands and prepared for pain...

I awoke with a jump.

I opened one eye, and then the other and got hit with a blast of sunlight.

Through the small opening in the cave I was trapped in, the sun was like a sharp line of light that hit me right in the face.

I moved to the side to get out of the way of the light. I rubbed my eyes and hugged my knees while huddling in the corner.

Suddenly, all the memories of last night came back to me. Murderer... trapped me in a hole... Zayn and Harry... where are they...

I began to feel frightened for the time that the killer comes back... what will he do to me... I can only imagine.

I started to run escape routes in my head for when he comes back. If he tries to touch me, I'll kick him right in the balls and try to run up the hill.

But what If i can't make it up the hill and I just slide back down? Then he would be angry and hurt me even more...

No. With enough momentum, I can make it. But no matter what, I will fight. I won't let him hurt me.

Lost in this confident thought, I heard footsteps from outside the cave. I froze in fear...

Then a pair of muddy red tennis shoes came into sight of the little opening that looked even tinier than the last time I looked through it.

They were the same familiar pair of shoes that I was once afraid of...

I quickly got to my feet and took a couple milli-seconds to mentally prepare myself for what was to come.

Before I knew it, the man was already at the bottom of the hill, and was now facing me.

His dark beard was the same as before... though dirtier. His eyes were bloodshot. They were like daggers staring into my soul. He was wearing a stained gray t-shirt and baggy jeans with holes in them. He was a bit overweight.

I tried not to look afraid. I tensed the muscles in my face so he could see that I was tough.

He stared me down for a while... he moved his eyes up and down my body, which made me very uncomfrotable. If he came any closer, I would attack.

Finally he spoke.

"Hungry?" His deep voiced rumbled.

I didn't answer.

He took a step towards me.

"Are you hungry?" He repeated, louder.

"I want to leave." I replied sternly. "Show me the way out."

His face twitched a bit and walked right up to me. Grabbing a bunch of my shirt near my neck, he shook me back and forth aggressively.

"Listen girl. I don't know who ye' think ye' are, but you will speak te' me with respect."

That was the most he had ever spoken to me, and now I could tell he had a heavy southern accent.

His breath smelled of tobacco, and as he spoke, he spit in my face.

I didn't move.

He let go of my shirt and backed away from me a bit.

"Thats better. Now, what's yer' name?" He asked me.

"Kendall." I replied looking straight in his eyes.

"Kendall." He repeated with a smirk. He pointed to himself, "McAllister," He said.

I tilted my head in confusion.

"Just McAllister," he said assuringly.

I nodded.

"Now," he started, once again looking me up and down. "Ye' hungry?"

Actually I was starving... but not for anything he had.

I nodded.

"Thats what I thought," he replied, reaching into his pocket. He pulled out the remains of a little bird and threw it at me.

I looked down at the animal in disgust. When I looked back up, McAllister was no longer standing in front of me, but climbing back up the hill.

I stared after him and waited until he was out of sight.

I took a deep breath then sat back down in my corner, once again hugging my knees. That visit went alright... at least I'm still in one piece.

I don't know about the next time though...

"Zayn, we've been walking for ages... this can't be the right direction."

I stopped walking and stared at him.

"Well actually mate," He looked at his watch. "We've only been walking for half an hour. But I know your exhausted, I am too."

I watched as Zayn sighed and sat down on the dirt and leaves below us. That angered me...

"How can you sit at a time like this??" I shouted at him.

"A time like what?" He replied, tilting his head.

"Kendall is missing! She's alone with the pyscho that shot up the band back at the concert! Use your brain, man, what do you THINK is going to happen to her?"

I started to pace back and forth, holding my hand to my forehead, now in panic mode.

Zayn stood up and faced me with the same anger I had at him.

"First of all, you don't even know that he took her! While you got yourself knocked out, I'm sure she did the smart thing and ran for it! If he was chasing her, what do you THINK she did?"

I stopped pacing and looked at him. I let my face soften up as I calmed down. My voice came back to its normal, deep softness.

"I don't know mate, I just... I have a hunch. I can feel that something is wrong. I know she needs my help... our help."

I turned away from Zayn and looked to the vast forest we were now facing.

I heard Zayn whisper from behind me.

"C'mon babe, where are you..."
