The Lying Game

I'm Olivia. I lived with my mom and stepdad, but my mother is hardly ever home. Without my mom knowing, my stepdad, Andy, would hit me, kick me, and slap me if I didn't do things right. I couldn't take it anymore. I ran away to my best friends house. And that best friend was Louis Tomlinson. I'm very embarrassed about what had happened, and it upsets me to talk about. But it's hard going back to normal after what happened. When I finally land on my feet in London, I follow Louis and live his life with him. I become very close friends with the rest of the lads. Maybe a little too close. But I don't want to tell them my story. How many secrets can I keep from everyone? I guess I'll just have to play The Lying Game.

37. Chapter 37

It's been three days now, and I haven't seen Andy since. But Grayson still comes to practice with me, just in case. I have another game today, and I overslept. Again. "Hey Harry I don't have my car with me so can I take yours? You and Louis can ride in his car for my game." I say while slipping my shirt over my head. "Yeah sure." Harry says and tosses my shorts to me. As I'm walking out, I pull my hair into a ponytail. Harry tosses me the keys and I hurry out the door. I get in Harry's range rover and drive to Grayson's flat. I pick him up and we both go to the stadium. "The game doesn't start for another hour and a half." Grayson says when we reach it. "I know but my coach wanted us to be here early. I don't know why." I say to him. He nodded and we went in our separate directions. I hurried downstairs to the locker room. I checked my watch and I was 20 minutes late. I groaned and pushed open the locker room door. Everyone stopped talking and looked dead at me. I smiled awkwardly and sat down on the bench beside Lee. "You're late, Harrison." Coach Goodman says. "Again." Cat says. I shot her a look. "I'm sorry. It won't happen again." I say. "This is the third time this week, Harrison." His deep voice says. I look at the ground. "Stay here with me after we all get done." He says. I nod slowly and hear Cat snickering. I rolled my eyes and went back to listening to Coach Goodman.
I plop down on the couch and take a sip from my juice. I look down at my shoes and see a spot of neon pink pink on them. I furrow my brow and lean over. I run my fingers of the spot. I was interrupted when a vibrating sound echoed through the quiet home. I get up and follow the sound. It was coming from Olivia's bag, so I peeked in it to find her phone ringing. The caller ID said 'Andy'. I was about to answer it, but it went to voicemail. I put the phone back in the bag, but saw something almost glowing. I reached in and picked it up and it was a white tank top, with glow in the dark paint splattered all over it. My lips parted. Olivia went to that blackout party with Garett. Furious, I threw the shirt back in the bag and pulled out her phone. I searched through her contacts and found his name. I pressed call and it rang 3 times before he picked up. "Hello?" He said. "Hey Garett. It's Harry." I say. It was quiet. "Oh, hey." "Did Olivia go to that party with you?" I ask. "Umm..." He says. "Did she??" I ask with more force. Still nothing. "Garett, did Olivia go to that party!?" "Y-yes." He says. My lips part. Anger filled my body. "Wow." I say. "W-William was there. He took her to his flat. But I got her." He says. My mouth fell open. It was quiet for a while. "Anything else that she hasn't told me?" I say. "Other than her stepdad, but I'm sure she's told you-" "No. No she hasn't." I say. Stepdad? I thought she had a mother and a father. "Oh..." Garett says. "Tell me." I say but Garett said nothing. "TELL. ME." I say. "Everything." I add. He takes a deep breath. "Olivia's real father died of cancer when she was only 8. Then her mother married her stepdad, Andy, when she was nine. Ever since then Andy abuses her and her brother and sister." He says. I cover my mouth. "She came to London because she ran away for her home in Doncaster. So did Grayson and Hannah." He adds. I fall back on the floor. Olivia Harrison had been lying to me this whole time about her. Anger was coming over me. "Does Louis know?" I say. "Of course. They are best friends." Garett says. I feel tears beginning to form in my eyes. "I gotta go. Bye." I say and hang up. I look at the phone and see that she had a missed call from Andy. I scoff and tap the name. I hesitate, but I tap call. It rang a little while. "Well hey there, Olivia." A deep voice said. "This is Harry. Her boyfriend." I say.
When coach goodman was finished talking, I stayed in the locker room when everyone left. "Maybe he'll slap some sense in you." Cat says. I roll my eyes. The door slams close and I turn my attention to Coach Goodman. "Olivia, you need to wake up. This isn't like school football. This is professional football." He says. I nod. "I understand." I say. "If you don't get your behind on time tomorrow, I'm going to have to take you out of the next game." He says. I nod again. "Yes sir." I say. "And I really don't want to do that because your the best player." He adds. I nod again. "I know you and Cat have some trouble. If you say one more ugly thing to her, your off the team." He says, his voice changing. "What? I haven't said one mean thing to her. She's the awful one." I say. "Stop lying. She's told me that you make fun of her football skills and you talk dirty about her to the other girls on the team." He says. My mouth dropped. "What the heck! It's her! She's the one who makes fun of m-" "I think you should go. We have a game in a little while." He says and walks out. I lay down on the bench and cover my face. "HARRISON!" Someone yelled. I jump up and hurry out. "Coming." I say.
Once I finally get to the field, Cat starts whispering to a girl. I roll my eyes. "So, did coach goodman tell you not to be late anymore? Or did he just say to lay OFF my back?" Cat said sarcastically. I try to ignore her. "He should've told you to stop being such a slut with Harry Styles." She says. I gasped and whipped around. "I'm tired of your bullshit Cat. And what you told Coach goodman what I "did", was totally just like you. I should've seen this coming. You're so hateful and I've had it! Get the hell out of my life! And GO to hell!" I say. "No, YOU go to hell Olivia." Cat says. "Then I will see you there." I say. She looks away and I turn back around. Coach Goodman was standing right there. I gulped. "Harrison, I warned you," he says. "I can explain." I say. "You're out." He says. I feel tears in my eyes and look down at the ground. "Yes sir." I say, my voice cracking. I take my walk of shame out of the stadium and into the locker room. I looked for my bag, but I remember I left it at Harry's flat. I groan and walk out. I finally find Grayson and tell him what happened on the way home. I dropped him off at his house and started driving back to Harry's flat. I started tearing up and I couldn't control it anymore. I sobbed all the way back to Harry's flat. Once I reach his driveway, I clean myself up and walk in. Harry wasn't in the den so I went in the kitchen. "Harry?" I say. He came out of nowhere, and stood in front of me. "Harry, I got-" I began to say. "Olivia, we need to talk."
