A general rant on how to write stories

I realise quite a few people have done these, but here's mine. Just general ways to improve your stories (in my opinion). Or I might just complain about how people write things in general.

12. Speech

Finally, I've managed to think of something else. That's one thing long car journeys are good for, I guess.

Anyway, in like half the movellas on here, everyone talks funny. I think we can safely assume  that pretty much every movella it's about 14- 23 year olds, yes? Usually around 16-18.

Now, I don't know how many of you have actually been around people that age, but they talk pretty differently to how most people write it. I realise I'm being incredibly unclear, so here is an example, as most of you will know I love to give:

"If you are going to do something like that again then you may as well give up, because all you are doing is humouring me."

I'm pretty sure we've all read stuff like this on movellas. Here are the problems:

1) These people are talking posh. Long words are a big no, I mean, how many young people (apart from us super cultured writers) use words like humouring in normal sentences. I say Indeed occasionally, but usually as a joke.

2) Use the apostrophe words that I can't remember the name for. You are is always you're, do not is don't, etc. That's just how teenagers talk.

3) They swear. Okay, some people dislike using swearing in their work, but still. My school may as well be rated 18 for all the swearing I hear every day, and yet my parents are worried when there's a swear word in a film.

Off topic, sorry. But yeah, most people swear a lot of the time.

And therefore, using the points I've mentioned, here is a far more likely thing a teenager would say:

"Don't ever try some shit like that again, you just look fucking hilarious."

Okay, not brilliant, but we'll ignore that.

All in all, that's just how people talk though. They're teens, not 50 year old businessmen, so try not to make everyone sound like they are.
