A general rant on how to write stories

I realise quite a few people have done these, but here's mine. Just general ways to improve your stories (in my opinion). Or I might just complain about how people write things in general.

7. POVs

Well, a new thing that's cropped up recently is constantly switching points of view, almost every other chapter, between up to 5 people.

Here are the circumstances in which switching POVs is okay-

-If the whole point of the story is about 2 sides of the story. For instance, I'm pretty sure that when I did it in Sorry it was okay.

-Writing about a group of people. It's not elegant, but it can help develop the storyline. As in, there is NO main character.

-Preferable you should only do it when writing in third person, I know a few books that do this, and it's very effective. Again, it should be about a group.

-For uber drama. Hard to explain, so I'll use an example: This girl suffers from bullying and commits suicide at the end. Then at the end is her funeral, written from her bully's point of view. THAT is acceptable.

Here are the circumstances in which switching POVs is not okay-

-When a girl is having a threesome with Harry Styles, and you decide to write it three times, from everyone's point of view. Super not okay.

-When some people are dating. It's dull, and doesn't make it any better.

Pretty much any other time than mentioned above, it doesn't work. You should use your writing skills to express the emotions and personality of other characters, not have to change the whole story just to do it. Stick to one character!
