1. Strong.

A shuddering breath between cool lips

That stings on the teeth. Shaking
Hands, and numb fingertips.
Leaving the house, going out, a whim.

In, and out, steady, controlled,
Tears beginning to threaten to show
Anxiety starting to take hold.
Passersby having no clue, they know

Not the strength it takes to leave
The warmth of a home for crowds
That mill around, your chest heaves
And your cries aren't yet too loud.

Sometimes it takes all too long
To pluck up courage to haul
Yourself out, you have to be strong,
And hold yourself up; please don't fall.
