Louis's POV

I looked at her from the kitchen, sitting there on the couch. She was so skinny... And she wouldn't eat anything... Was she anorexic or something? No, she didn't strike me as that kind of person.

I couldn't get rid of the nagging feeling in the back of my head that I knew her from somewhere, but I didn't remember her at all... Those eyes, how could I forget those eyes?

"Louis," Zayn whispered to me, "You're staring at her." Sure enough, I was. Oops. I hope she didn't see me... I just, I know I knew her from somewhere...

Liam's POV

Louis and Alex both looked strangely alike. Her eyes had a little more green in them, and her hair was a little bit darker, but their faces were so similar. It was strange to see them side by side, but we all knew Lou had no siblings. Did he have a sister he didn't tell us about?

The pair of them looked at each other a lot too, like they both knew they were siblings, but didn't want to say anything.

"TOMLINSON!!!" I turned around, snapped out of my thoughts by Niall screaming at Louis. Louis was now running around the house with Niall's sandwich  threatening to eat it. I just laughed. They were such kids sometimes.

Alex's POV

"TOMLINSON!!!" Louis had Niall chasing him around the house for his sandwich... For a twenty-year-old, he sure acted like he was five sometimes...

I got up off the couch and walked over to Harry. "What did Niall call him?" I had to be sure my ears weren't deceiving me.

"Tomlinson, it's Louis's last name," he replied.

I felt the room start to spin and go black.

"Alex!" I recognized Louis's voice, only it was just a bit higher in my head, like he was five. I felt him catch me as the world faded.

*****

I sit down and flex my fingers, getting ready to play. I place my hands on the keys, pick them back up, then start to play. The notes to "Ever the Same" fill the room. I see Louis run down the starts as the lyrics are about to start.

He sings along:

"We were drawn from the weeds
We were brave like soldiers
Falling down under the pale moonlight
You were holding to me
Like a someone broken
And I couldn't tell you but I'm telling you now
Just let me hold you while you're falling apart
Just let me hold you and we'll both fall down
Fall on me
Tell me everything you want me to be
Forever with you forever in me
Ever the same
We would stand in the wind
We were free like water
Flowing down
Under the warmth of the sun
Now it's cold and we're scared
And we've both been shaken
Hey, look at us
Man, this doesn't need to be the end
Just let me hold you while you're falling apart
Just let me hold you and we'll both fall down
Fall on me tell me everything you want me to be
Forever with you
Forever in me
Ever the same
Call on me
I'll be there for you and you'll be there for me
Forever it's you
Forever in me
Ever the same
You may need me there
To carry all your weight
But you're no burden I assure
You tide me over
With a warmth I'll not forget
But I can only give you love
Fall on me tell me everything you want me to be
Forever with you
Forever in me
Ever the same
Call on me
I'll be there for you and you'll be there for me
Forever it's you
Forever in me
Ever the same
Forever with you
Forever in me
Ever the same(Ever the same)"

I smile up at him. "Why don't you ever sing, Lex?"

"I'm no good! Silly Lou."

He ruffles my hair and hugs me. "Yes you are! Now what's the real reason?"

"I like to listen to you sing our song. Who knows how long I'll get to hear it for," I tell him, a tear escaping.

"It's okay," he tells me, pulling me into another hug. "You'll get through this. Lots of people survive cancer. And you'll be one of them," he says, hugging me tighter.

The thunder cracks outside and I whimper, trying to stay composed. I loose it when the lightning lights up the sky.

I run up to my room.

The rest of my dream continues, just like the others.

*****

I woke up, gasping. "Alex, are you alright?" Louis took me by the shoulders and looked me straight in the eyes.

"I-I-I... I'm fine," I lie.

"You're a terrible liar," Niall pipes up.

"Honestly, I'll be fine, I just need... Never mind," I mumble.

Zayn looked concerned. "What is it you need, Love?"

"Do you guys have a umm, uh..."

"A what," Harry asked me.

"A piano," I say, hanging my head.

"Sure we do! Why didn't you just ask," said Louis, jumping up and taking my hand. He leads me up the stairs and into a room with all sorts of instruments  My eyes instantly went to the sleek black grand piano. I looked at the boys questioningly, almost pleading with my eyes.

"Well, show us what you've got," Liam said, gently "shoving" me over to the piano.

I sat down, flexed my fingers, placed them on the keys, picked them back up, and started to play my favorite song. The boys just looked at each other, they'd never heard "Ever the same" before; well, all but Louis. He started singing along. I smiled sadly, and the boys just watched. When I hit the last note, I let a tear fall, but quickly wiped it away, hoping nobody saw.

"Great song, how'd you know it, Lou," asked Liam.

"I don't know, all I remember is I used to sing it all the time. My parents never really liked it though; they always told me to stop. I never did, though, it's a great song."

"Where did you learn to play like that, Alex? You're amazing," Niall asked.

"Um, my parents paid for my lessons when I was 2 and 3."

"That's cool," said Harry. I just nodded.

Louis pulled out his phone, "Boys, we've got to go, are you coming Alex?"

"Is it all right if I stay here and play," I asked hesitantly.

"Sure thing," said Harry and Louis in unison, as all the boys walked out the door.

I sat and played and played and played. I hadn't played in forever, so I didn't remember much, so I borrowed some of their sheet music they had, and played those songs. When I finished "Moments", I remembered one of my favorite songs. I started to play. When the part with the lyrics came up, I even started to sing:

"I know you think that I shouldn't still love you,

Or tell you that.
But if I didn't say it, well I'd still have felt it
where's the sense in that?
I promise I'm not trying to make your life harder
Or return to where we were
I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will be
I know I left too much mess and
destruction to come back again
And I caused nothing but trouble
I understand if you can't talk to me again
And if you live by the rules of "it's over"
then I'm sure that that makes sense
I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will be
And when we meet
Which I'm sure we will
All that was there
Will be there still
I'll let it pass
And hold my tongue
And you will think
That I've moved on....
I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will be
I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will be
I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will be."

When I finished, I started to sob, uncontrollably. I hadn't noticed the boys were standing in the doorway until Zayn came over and gave me a small side hug. "It's alright, Love, what's wrong?"

"That song just reminds me of memories," I said, sniffling.

"Love, have you been there the whole six hours? You don't look like you've moved an inch," Louis said. What?! It couldn't have been six hours. I looked at my phone and sure enough, I'd been playing for six hours straight. I yawned, covering my mouth.

"Yeah, I guess I have. I just really like playing," I told him.

"Come on. Let's get you to bed, it's already 10:30 P.M." Louis came over and picked me up bridal style. I just laid my head on his chest and tried my hardest not to fall asleep. He walked into a room and set me on the bed. As soon as my head hit the pillow I was out.
