Fragile *Complete*

When Alex set out to find her long lost brother, she never guessed he'd be famous. But can she get him to remember her, that tiny blank in his childhood memory? Or will his life prove too much of a distraction?

8. Falling Ill

I could tell they recognized me. How could they not? I was their gosh dang daughter for goodness sake! I quickly snapped myself out of my daze and walked towards the door, smiling. "You must not be used to seeing any girl other than Eleanor over here. Hi, I'm Alex, the boys' friend. The four of us were just about to leave, so we'll be out of your hair soon. I hope the three of you have a wonderful time," I said, shaking their hands.

Just then, the oven started beeping. "I'll be right back. Come on in," Lou said, rushing to the kitchen.

I turned back to my "parents". "He doesn't know and I want to keep it that way. Don't tell him." I walked up to my room, hyperventilating.

Zayn's POV

We were all sitting in Alex's room, worrying. We had heard a knock at the door shortly after she had gone downstairs, but she hadn't come back up since.

Niall started to pace back and forth. I could tell how worried he was. She was the little sister he never had; she was a little sister to all of us. All except Liam. I saw how he looked at her; she was much more than a sister to him.

After a few minutes, we hard her heels click down the hall. She opened the door and saw us all sitting there waiting for her. "Are you alright, Love? What happened," I asked her.

"Lou's parents showed up when I was coming upstairs." She shrugged like it was no big deal.

"What did they say? What did you say?" Niall asked the questions we were all thinking.

"They didn't say anything. I introduced myself and when Louis left to go pull something out of the oven, I told them he doesn't know and not to say anything," she explained.

"And you think they will," Harry asked hopefully. He knew how much she wanted Louis to figure it out on his own.

"I guess we'll find out soon enough. He tells you guys everything. Come on, let's get going."

Alex's POV

The boys and I went out to dinner at a fancy restaurant I'd never heard of. Everything was nice and peaceful, except for the looks they gave me when I didn't eat anything, until we tried to leave the restaurant. As soon as we walked out, we were mobbed by the paparazzi, shouting questions left and right. I got separated from the boys as the fans swarmed them asking for autographs and pictures.

"Liam," I tried to scream over the girls, hoping he would recognize my voice. "Zayn! Niall! Harry!" They couldn't hear me. I walked back into the restaurant to wait for them, they'd figure out I was missing soon enough.

Harry's POV

Where was Alex? She was right next to us, but when I turned around, she was gone! Had she been separated from us by the fans? Louis was going to kill us if anything happened to her.

I turned to Liam and shouted, "Alex!" A flash of fear shot through his eyes, and he turned to face the door. "I got it, Mate," I said, and headed back towards the restaurant.

Alex's POV

The restaurant was now packed, and I was getting excruciatingly hot standing here in pantyhose and a long sleeved dress (to hide my scars). My vision was starting to swim after about ten minutes. I really should've eaten something in the past 2 or 3 days. I started to sway. Hold it together, Alex, I just kept telling myself.

Harry's POV

Liam was having a hard time getting away from the fans, so I shouted, "I got it, Mate," and headed towards the restaurant, pushing past the throngs of fans blocking my way. I spotted her in the corner, swaying back and forth. She didn't look so good. After a good couple of minutes I reached her just as she started to fall. I caught her and put my arm around her, supporting most of her weight, which wasn't much. "Come on, Love. Let's get you home," I said, taking her outside.

We finally made it to the car; when Harry saw us walking up, he opened the door for us. I picked Alex up and laid her across the limo's seat, her head resting on Liam's lap.

"What happened to her? Is she alright." Liam's voice was so pained, I could hear it so clearly, as well as the worry.

"I don't know, I walked in and spotted her, and when I went over to her, she stated to fall. We need to take her home, see if she's alright." I didn't know what else to do, besides take her to the hospital. I just hoped she wasn't that bad...
