30. Chapter 30

Laila POV

*one week later*

I woke up to the sounds of Chloe rustling around in her drawers. I sat up and rubbed my eyes then looked around. "What are you doing Chloe?" I asked. She didn't answer me, just kept looking or whatever she was doing. I got up and walked over to her. She was indeed looking for something. "Chloe what are you looking for?" I asked again. She turned to look at me. She was extremely pale and she had huge bad under her eyes. She turned back around and kept searching. "Dammit Chloe! What are you looking for!" I raise my voice, hoping she would tell me this time. "M-my m-medicine. I n-need i-it." Her voice was shaky and she sounded really weak. I ran into the kitchen to get the bottle from the cabinet. I opened the door, only to see that the bottle was empty. "Shit." I cursed under my breathe. I ran back to the room, only to find an unconscious Chloe laying on the floor. "No! Chloe, Chloe! Wake up!" I screamed. I ran to my phone and called 911. It rang until someone picked up. "My little sister just passed out and she still won't wake up. I need an ambulance now!" I said worriedly into the phone. "Okay does she have any medical conditions?" The wan asked on the other line. "Yes, she has cancer. Please help me! She's 13 she needs help!" I screamed into the phone. "Ok miss, we just need your address and an ambulance will be on its way." I gave her the address then hung up and called dad. He didn't answer, probably with a surf student. So then I called Lillian. It rang and on the third ring, she picked up. "Lillian I'm freaking out, Chloe passed out and I called 911 and an ambulance is on the way. I need you to pick me up and drive to the hospital." I was sitting by Chloe's side, trying to wake her up. "Oh my gosh I'm on my over!" She hung up and I sat there, cradling my sister in my arms. "Come on Chloe, you're stronger than this, I know you are." I repeated over and over. Soon after that, there was a loud blaring of sirens. I ran to the front door and swung it open, people rushing inside. I led them up to our room and they swiftly put her onto a gurney a took her out of the room. Right about that time, Lillian's car pulled into my driveway and I hurried into the passenger side. "Just follow the ambulance." I stated.

In no time, we were at the hospital and Chloe was rushed into a room. She was being hooked up to lots of different machines and tubes. She looked so pitiful, laying there motionless. I broke my heart that there was nothing I could do.

Liam would know what to do.

That was the first thought that popped into my head. But Liam wasn't here now, and I needed to help Chloe as best I could.

A nurse came walking towards me. "The doctor needs to examine her...you can't be in here right now." A hurt expression crossed over my face. "I promise I'll watch her." She patted my shoulder as I smiled small. I went back into the hallway and slumped into a chair. "What'd they say?" Lillian questioned. "They're doing some tests on her and stuff." Lillian's mouth formed an "o" shape. This was going to take a while.

We waited for about two hours then a nurse walked out. "You can go in and see her in a minute, but let me just tel you about her condition. Chloe has got at least one month left. She's getting worse every single day. It's only matter of time before the cancer takes over her body and her immune system can't handle it anymore. I'm sorry." The nurse walked back down the long white hall. I sat there, her words still trying to make sense in my head. Chloe was dying. And there was nothing I could do about it.
