You're Mine

*Not Famous*
Zoe and her cousin Niall have always been close, as close as they can be with Niall living all the way Ireland. When an unexpeected event brings Zoe to Ireland to stay with Niall, no one could have ever predicted what could've happened. Not only will Zoe fall for one of Niall's friends, she will be ripped away from everything she's ever known.

1. Surprises

"Niall! Niall, come here!"

He runs across the soggy, deep brown wood chips in his too big jean shorts, mud stained t-shirt, and dirty sneakers. The air smells of fresh rain, as the last few drops fall from the bleak sky. His soft brown hair sticks up in tuffs, ice blue eyes shining as he skids to a halt, nearly slipping on the soaked ground.

"What, Zoe? Is there another dead frog?"

He glances around frantically for the speckled, green body, hoping to catch a glimpse before Uncle Bobby scoops it up and tosses it out of the yard.

"No, silly!" I giggle.

"I want you to push me on the swing. Push me high, not like Greg. He thinks I'm to little to go high."

"Aw, Zo. I don't think you're to little. I'll push you!"

He runs behind me, as I prop myself up on the damp, slippery, black seat, hands collapsing around the slick silver chains. Gently, he places his hand on my back, pushing me forward. I giggle with delight feeling the warm, humid air rush against my face, blowing my dirty blonde, tangled hair out of my face.

"Higher, Niall!"

Shrieking with delight, I kick my legs furiously. Butterflies rise in my stomach as the grey clouds break, allowing shimmering rays of sunlight to bounce off Niall's pale skin.

A distant voice calls my name, but I pay it no attention, squealing as the world rushes by me with the feeling of flying rushing through my viens.

The voice suddenly seems close, thundering in the air around us.

"Zoe Michelle! It's time to get up."

The sunlight begins to fade, and the grey coulds seeming faint, Niall turing transparent.

"No, Niall. Come back."

With a rough shake on my shoulder, my eyes fly open. I'm not at the freshly rained on park, enjoying the swingset with my favorite cousin and best friend. I'm in my bed, curled up in my favorite blanket, my mom at my side.

"Niall? What are you talking about, honey?"

I groan and shut my eyes, trying to recreate the surreal dream. I want to be there, not here. I want to be five again. Carefree, niave, curious, having the time of my life on the simple swinging piece of rubber.

"I had a dream we were little kids and we were playing together" I mumble into my pillow, not really caring if she heard me or not.

"Oh, sweetie. I know you miss him. You'll get to see him soon though."

I throw the blanket off, cold air causing goose bumps to break out all over my skin. I pull myself into a half sitting position, leaning on my pillows for support. My mind is still groggy and it's hard to form a rational thought.

"No I won't, mom. We can't afford a trip to Ireland until next year when he graduates. You've told me this a thousand and twelve times."

The corners of her mouth perk up, but she forcefully shoves them back down, without trying to make it look to obvious. My heart starts to beat a little faster. She's hiding something, or has a surprise and it has something to do with Niall.

"Well, actually, I was meaning to talk to you about that, but I think you'd much rather hear it from him."

She flicks her head to the door, and I turn to see it slide across my wood floors. Niall steps into the room and it's almost like my dream, unbelieveable. His naturally brown hair, is now a neutral blonde that suits him well and enhances his eyes, which are still the same. He's grown a good six inches since I last saw him, and grew into his body. He doesn't look like the dorky fourteen year old I remember.

"Hey, Zo! Long time, no see, cous!'

His thick irish accent snaps me out of reality. I pounce out of bed and tackel him, wrapping my arms around his neck as tightly as I can. He snakes his arms around my torso and pulls me close. I can't believe it! I've missed him so much! I talk to him on the phone at least once a week, but it's not the same as actually having him here.

"Niall! I-I can't believe it!" I choke out in between laughs, and dry sobs.

Emotions flood through me at a thousand miles per hour, excitement rushing through my viens, mixing with happiness, confusion, love, and surprise, all meeting at my swelling heart. A single tear slips down my cheek as I reluctantly pull away from my cousin, half expecting to wake up and this all just be a dream.

He wraps his arm around my shoulder, leaning on me for support, and I don't complain. Having him this close to me is more than I could ask for at this point.

"I couldn't believe it either when Auntie Jen called me up and told me she had a ticket for me to fly here."

"How long are you staying?" I ask a bit worried.

I need to know how much time I'll have with him . He has to meet a few of my close friends and Seth, my boyfriend. I think twice about how that situation would go. Maybe he won't meet Seth. He's not exactly the most loveable guy on the planet. Most would say he's a bad kid: no good, flunking school, doing drugs, but I know he's not. He just doesn't quite know what he wants to do with his life yet.

"I'm staying 'til Sunday, you should know that."

"Why should I know that?"

My mom stands up in a hurry and comes between us, giving Niall the evil eye.

"Niall, sweetie. I haven't told Zoe about the other surprise. So why don't you go and make yourself a bowl of cereal?"

Niall smiles at the thought, and doesn't hesitate nearly jogging out of the room. Niall loves food, he always has. Doesn't matter what type of food it is, as long as it's ediable, it's in Niall's mouth. One of his favorite things is some chain resturant over where he lives called 'Nandos'. I've only ever heard about it from him, but he said it' amazing, so I'll take his word on it.

"Not a problem, Jen."

"Aunt Jen, Niall James! You know better!" she shouts after him, adding extra emphasis on the 'Aunt' part.

I turn my attention back to my mom, still in suspense on what this other big surprise is. Maybe Niall's staying with us then they're telling me. What if he's moving to America? That would be so amazing! I could see him any time I want! Excitement starts to bubble up in me again as my mom unsucessfully tries to hide her smile.

"Mom! You can't keep me in suspense like this any longer! You have to tell me what the surpise is!"
