11. Ch 11 Keylay's death

The path took a lot longer than I expected but finally we came in front of a door. The hallways were white and tiled. It looked very plain and dreary other than the faint sounds of monitors and people talking. A person came towards us with scrubs and a tray with her. She was coming right at me and raced right through me. She paused when David put his hand around my shoulder and said. "This way."

We came to the wooden door and came inside and there was my friend, white as me and close to death. I never knew that she was in that bad of shape. She stared at me with faded eyes that turned into delight.

"Elva! " She squealed "I thought you were.."

"I am." I whispered in shame I wish I could say more but the next word that came out of her mouth surprised me.

"I'm sorry for the contract that I signed. I should have never done it. I just didn't want you to move away." She said as though she could sense what I was going to ask next. "I wish that there was a way to brake it."

"There is." I said quickly. "But the only way you can do it is." I stopped myself I didn't want to say it to my best friend that the only way to brake the contract was to defeat Misa but I can't make the final strike, she has to.

"I understand. I knew this day would come."

"You don't have to now you could wait."

"No, it is MY fault, I got you into this mess, now I must unleash you from the contract I signed. Besides I rather you come get me other than Misa. Besides I had dragged this on for to long."

I nodded she was easy to convince although it was to to simple to do. I looked at the time, as it was almost four in the afternoon almost time that school would let out. "Ok," I huffed. "Time to go." I took her hand and pulled her up and out of bed. There was a noise next to us as her warm hand turns cold and I left goosebumps on her corpse. I could see her spirit lift with me and stand next to me. Then the first time in a long time we hugged at the joy of being able to touch each other again. The faint sound of the machine tore us apart. A sad looking nurse came in and turned it into silence and put the draping over Keylay's closed eyes as we watched and knew the deed was done.
