1. Prologue

I tend to switch between point of views a lot. I must apologize in advanced. If you get confused by the constant switching, then I'm sincerely sorry. It's just how I get my points across and for me it's easier to follow along and see things from different perpectives. Most of the time it will be in 3rd person POV though, I promise :)

~Niall's Point of View~

I woke up to the sound of a car door slamming shut. The sound caused me to raise my head up from the warm pillow in a droopy state. I groaned as I laid on my stomach and wiped the drool off the side of my chin and cheek with the back of my hand. How gross is that? Waking up in your own drool? I wiped my hand on my covers and flipped my pillow over to the more dry and cool side. Much better. I let my eyes flutter close once more as I let my dreams start to engulf me once more into a wonderful slumber.

"Niall!" a voice rang from downstairs. I groaned out in response fore I was too tired to actually move my lips and speak. I'm guessing the person who yelled never heard my groan because before I knew it there were loud footsteps coming up the steps and my bedroom door got flung open, causing it to bounce against the wall. "Hey kid, don't you hear your mother yelling for ya?" That was John, my mothers boyfriend. Man, I really hated that guy. He assumes he could boss me around like his own son, Greg, since I've grown up fatherless. I didn't need him. My mom and I were getting along just fine until him and his monster that he calls a son, showed up into our lives. We don't need another alpha male in the household. I was fully capable of supporting my mom and I, myself. I just groaned once more and waved my hand at him as a signal that I heard. He didn't take that as an answer. Next thing I knew, I felt his large hand smack against the back of my head and my covers were being dragged off. I shivered at the sudden burst of cold air. I refused to move though. I wanted to show him he isn't the only 'alpha' in this house. "Get up when I tell you to get up!" he growled. I wasn't in the mood to really argue with him at the moment so I just rolled over onto my back and sat up. Not because he told me to, but because I wanted to on my own and to prove that he wasn't the boss of me. I shot him a few daggers with my eyes. "Meet your mother and I downstairs in five" he growled once more in that Italian accent of his; before turning on his heel and walked out of my room, slamming the door behind him. I just groaned once more before throwing my bare body back against my bed.

When I was finally able to get up from my bed and change into some clean clothes, a white plain t-shirt with a UCLA hoodie thrown over it and some dark jeans that slung over my bum just a little to show my grey boxer briefs. I was now standing at the bottom of the steps watching John carry some luggage out to the car, while my mom paced back and forth in front of me spitting off a list of chores and rules I must follow while her and John leave for a holiday and Greg was at his moms house, Carol, for the next couple of days. At least I get one or two days to myself. "Clean the kitchen, I want your laundry done by the time we're back, no throwing the neighbor's dog into our pool again, oh and Niall?" she stopped pacing in front of me and placed both of her hands on my shoulders as she looked me in the eyes. "No wild parties." I groaned in response but nodded my head because I wasn't really in the mood to argue with her either. "Yes, mum" I spoke deeply. She kissed the top of my forehead and hugged me tightly against her. "I'm going to miss you, baby" she said softly. I hugged her back just as tight and took in her flowery scent. "I'll miss you too, mum" I replied in honesty.

John came up behind her and patted my head. "See ya' sport" he said in a husky voice before following my mother out the door. "Whatever" I mumbled back and made a face behind his back. No parties huh? We'll see about that. What they don't know won't hurt them, right?
