Rummy always lived in her sister, Rose's shadow. All she feels is worthless to the point she runs away. But when she meets Fox, the well known crook, she dosn't know what she is getting into. Can she make it out with her newfound freinds ALIVE? Or will Fox have the last laugh and Rummy will stay in his cluches forever?
(I wrote this book in middleschool/my freshman year to where this was my first completed book)

17. Chapter seventeen: the commitment to Run:

Fox came into the door last to see if they had any cops on their tails.  “Congratulations Snake,” he said as he closed the splintering door behind him. “You are officially a regular runner.” Rummy started to cry and ran up the stairs. Fox cringed and he knew that Snake … Rummy just joined Moonshine’s little group and Fox was going to find out everything he could about the runaway organization.

Rummy threw open the door and charged in, tears still flowing down her face. “Moonshine, Rose wake up.” Rummy yelled and shook Moonshine and Rose. “What’s wrong Rum?” Rose said as she caught Rummy into her arms.

      “Snake, what’s up?” Moonshine said.

“Fox had me steal and I know that stealing is wrong and he pulled a gun on me and that’s not all of it.” Rummy wined.

“I know how you feel Snake. I had been Fox’s girlfriend since age seven and he was fourteen. And I had been serving him ever since.” Moonshine said and that made Rummy feel a little better. “Its hard being his girlfriend you are always on watch till you snap then it’s the worst.” Moonshine whispered.  Rummy looked up from Rose’s shoulder. “He orders you to be in the hole and once you are in there you are very lucky to get out. That’s what happened to Sunrise.” Moonshine faded.

“Who’s Sunrise?” Rummy asked in question.

“Sunrise was my buddy over the three years I first came here. She was Fox’s girlfriend till I showed. She was funny, outgoing and…” suddenly Moonshine stopped remembering what happened to her and put her head down.

“And what?” Rummy asked

“And was put into the hole and never came out.” Moonshine wined and eminently put herself together.

“Moonshine, what’s the hole?” Rummy asked.

“The hole is the absolute worst place to be at or in. once you get in you might as well look back on your past because you are never going to get out.” Moonshine explained.

“Rummy he’s not going to do this to you or anyone.” Rose reassured her.  “Maybe we all should go to bed.”

“Rose is right maybe we all should; it’s been a long night.” Moonshine agreed.

As Rummy crawled into the cold mattress she was thinking about the past few hours, how she was and now who she is. She also realized what she had to do she turned towards Moonshine and said, “Moonshine I’m joining the Run-agains.” Rummy said and Moonshine whined in agreement and then Rose chimed “Me too, I’m in. I have enough to help you get out of the big house.” Moonshine just smiled at the agreement and Rummy tried to sleep with happy thoughts.
