Rummy always lived in her sister, Rose's shadow. All she feels is worthless to the point she runs away. But when she meets Fox, the well known crook, she dosn't know what she is getting into. Can she make it out with her newfound freinds ALIVE? Or will Fox have the last laugh and Rummy will stay in his cluches forever?
(I wrote this book in middleschool/my freshman year to where this was my first completed book)

18. Chapter eighteen: the final part of the commitment, and the comeback of fox:

Rummy woke up extra early and immediately stormed into the meeting room. She gently rapped on the door and Moonshine answered it. Rummy kindly walked in and to her surprise Rose was at the front of the large group. “Snake,” Rose said, “We’re just getting started.”

“Good morning everyone, today we have two new members of our group, please welcome Rose and Snake.” Moonshine said and everyone applauded as Rose and Rummy stepped forward.

Before Moonshine could get another word Rose perked up saying, “I know how the ceremony is, and my story is a secretive one.” Rose took a long deep breath. “I’m with the law, the FBI and everything.

My sister here went on her first run with Fox and she is now haunted with those thoughts. So if you can accept us please.”  She finished.

“Well welcome.” Moonshine said and dismissed the entire group saying that Rose had said enough.

As Rose, Rummy and Moonshine came out of the room there was Dog and Hook, waiting for them.

“Fox wants to see you Moonshine.” Hook said and Moonshine walked with them to Fox’s lair.

“Rummy, we should follow them.” Rose said as Moonshine nodded beside her shoulder.

Rummy started to sneak along the path of Hook and Dog. “Wait for me.” Rose said. The girls peeked their heads around the corner of Fox’s office door just as Fox and Moonshine was getting into the important part of their conversation.

“Just get to the point Fox.” Moonshine begged.

Fox gave an evil snicker and chimed in his good guy tone, “All that I’m saying is that I can only have ONE girlfriend, and I found my new one, little Miss Rosie. Either way you’re too much of a threat.” He said as he opened the chamber to a deep staircase down.  “Dog, Hook, I would like to be alone, after a little help.” Fox ordered.

Dog and Hook followed Fox into the dark chamber. Soon after Dog and Hook came up from the chamber and closed the cabinet that was hiding the entrance. Then both of them walked past the girls and Dog looked at them sternly and walked off. The girls crept up against the cabinet, checked for other kids and scurried in and closed the door behind them.

The entrance of the chamber was hideous. It smelled like rotting bodies and gun smoke. At the beginning of the tunnel was lit brightly but the rest of the place was pitch black.  On the left of the girls was some hooks were some masks that had some lights on top.

“There’s only one.” Rose said. “Rummy you take it, I don’t think I can stand the smell!” Rummy just huffed as an answer and grabbed the mask.

“Ok, just stand guard and don’t look suspicious that’s the last thing we want is Dog or Hook to get after us and have to join Moonshine.” Rummy said.

Rummy put the mask on and creped down into the unforgiving darkness. As she went farther down she could hear voices and she could tell that it was Fox and Moonshine.

“Fox this is outrageous!” Moonshine yelled as Rummy snuck around the corner and turned off the lamp on the mask. Rummy couldn’t believe her eyes once they adjusted the darkness. Moonshine was chained up to the wall by her wrists. “Classic” thought Rummy as Fox continued. “You are a disgrace to come up with that plot to stop ME, the Swamp Fox.” Fox said.

“Stop tying to be a high class know-it-all. Oh, I never wanted to be your girlfriend. I never really LIKED you, Fox. What you do and run this place is, may I count off on my fingers, one, dirty. Two, cruel and mean especially this dump, the way you treat everyone is, like the “Regs” you use them to steal and I am a witness to Gizmo’s injury. Three, I started the Runaways to bring you down and put you away. I am surprised they haven’t found us yet from stealing so many times!” Moonshine explained and Fox heard enough. He raised his favorite nine-millimeter and Rummy turned away as Fox shot Moonshine in the leg she howled.

“That’s it; I’ve had enough of your mouth.” He said and put the gun back in his hole ripped pants. As he turned around Rummy thought it would be a good idea to get back upstairs. So she walked a little bit in the darkness then she turned on her light on the mask and hurried out making sure that she doesn’t pound on the cold stone floor.
