Finding hope

Elaina was in the 8th grade, and hated it. she was failing, bullied, losing her best friend, and walked home everyday to an abusive household. She hated herself. everyday, she just wanted everything to end. She had one friend only. She was dying inside. She knew it. And she didn't do anything to stop it. Until one boy saved her, and gave her hope for her life.

3. Starting Over

I woke up with a tube in my arm. I looked to the left of my bed to find Meghan  hugging her knees and looking at me. She had on a pair of pajama pants and a winter coat, something that you would never see her wear. She realized I was awake and sat up a little. She started sniffling and a tear rolled off her perfect eyelashes and onto her lap. she looked up and wiped her eyes.

"Are you ok?" She grabbed my hand.

"I guess you could say that." I smiled and cried at the same time. "You know, I just feel so...Worthless all the time. Like nobody wants me. Like nobody would care."

Meghan tried her best not to cry harder. "Why? I love you so much...You're my best friend. I would cry everyday and every night if you left. I can't live without you."

"You're amazing. But not very convincing. My parents hate me. And when I'm not at home being hit, or yelled at, I'm at school where i get made fun of for no good reason. I can't concentrate on school anymore. I'm failing one of my classes. On top of that, I'm ugly. I try, so hard. to fit in, to do better. But it's just so. Out of reach." My breath was shaky and I looked down. Meghan got up off her little chair and went over to me. She leaned over and gave me a big hug.

"Stop, Elaina. You're beautiful. You don't need to be like those other girls. You're stronger than them. And I swear, if you're parents ever get out of hand, You're out. You can live with me. That'd be awesome, right?" She smiled even though her eyes were wet and her arms were still around her.

"Yeah. That"d be great." I smiled and looked up at her.

By now were both crying as hard as we can. but not the kind where you scream, and honk. Like the kind where you're silent aside from sniffles, and the tears are just streaming down your face and you don't feel anything but the pain in your heart. Meghan looked up and smiled as she left out a puff of air and grabbed my hand. then she got up and walked around to the empty side of the bed and lay down.

"I'm sleeping over." she winked and smiled. And the next thing you know we're fast asleep.
