The Flute Player (1)

"Your test results have come back," the doctor said as soon as the door closed. I nervously looked at him, fidgiting.
"And?" My voice was barely audible. I watched him closely as he went behind his desk and to his files. I couldn't see anything in his eyes, his body language didn't suggest anything. I wanted him to hurry. I had a concert to perform in tonight, and I couldn't be late. One Direction was counting on me to play my flute with them.
"I'm sorry, Leah, but the results aren't good." The doctors eyes were sympathetic, and went on to explain the details. I didn't listen. From that moment on, I knew that the dream I was living would come to an end.

20. The Plane Ride

Harry's Point of View

"Don't get naked," Louis whispered in my ear from the seat behind me. I quickly turned around and sat up on my knees on the seat, trying not to whack Leah. The plane was still filling up, so I hoped I wouldn't get noticed.

"Take that back," I warned him. "Or I'll slap you."

"Ohh... so scary." Louis held up in his hands and pretended to shake them. Then, he turned his head to the window. I saw his eyes as they went down to the ground. I had never really thought about how high above ground a plane was... until now.

I turned back to Louis, ready to slap him, but something caught my arm. It was small, smooth hand. I followed it down to the person it belonged to. Leah... I was staring into her sleepy eyes. She was soo pretty. Her black hair was neatly cut, and her eyes were soo blue...

"Snap out of it!" Louis whispered to me after a few moments. Right. I quickly shook the butterflies away from my stomach and stopped looking deep into Leah's eyes.

"Why'd you do that?" I complained, as I made my way down, letting my butt land on the seat.

"Don't you dare get naked, Harry Edward Styles... atleast not in my presence," Leah warned as she let go of my arm. She put the magazine back in the pocket of the seat infront of her.

"Oh..." I let the 'o' sound go longer, as if I had just realized it. "Can't I atleast take off my shirt?"

"Go ask every girl around you," Leah sarcastically replied.

Right... we were on a crowded plane. This wasn't the place to take off my shirt. "Sorry, Leah." I kicked my carry-on bag underneath the seat.

"It's fine... we're all tired." She was right. We had picked her up five, and now it was about halfway through the day, not quite afternoon. It had been a long morning saying goodbye, going through security and trying to avoid fans. We were all slightly grumpy.

People still passed by. We weren't in first class, but we were in the front of the economy class. We weren't in first class or business class because they were all booked. It wasn't a huge surprise though, it was a group of atleast ten people, which was a lot to book for last minute.

Leah's Point of View

It had been hard to get out of bed this morning, and even harder to say goodbye to all my family and friends at the airport. Now, I was stuck on a plane with who knows how many other people for who knows how many hours. Hopefully I could sleep.

The constant chatter of passangers was almost deafning, and in the mix there were several babies crying. I could tell already this was going to be a long flight.

As soon as we were allowed to, I took the blanket out of the bag which I had found on my seat and got as comfortable as possible. Liam was sitting behind me, and he didn't care how far back I put my chair, because he was going to sleep anyway. That was a bonus for me, so I had it at a comfortable position and fell right to sleep.

"Leah... wakey wakey..." A strange voice from my dream came with me as I woke up. I was being slightly shaken. Slowly, I let my eyes open to see Harry's face above mine. He looked exhausted.

"What... Harry.... it's early," I moaned. The drone of the plane caught my ears, and I inwardly groaned.

"But you've been sleeping for a while, it's best to excersize every now and then," Harry advised me. "Or else your feet will fall asleep... if they aren't already."

"You woke me up to tell me that?" I muttered.

"No... can you move? I also have to use the toilet." He gave a small smile.

"FIne..." I kicked the blanket to the floor and slowly got up, careful not to fall. My legs were asleep, I discovered. Maybe I should exersize. I followed Harry's advice and slowly walked to the end of the seats and back. There, that was better. Once I got to my seat I felt more energized, and not ready to go back to sleep.

"Soo... what do you do on long flights like these?" I asked Harry, since he was back. Obviously there wasn't a long lineup.

"Nothing... just goof around," Harry replied. "It's a good time to catch up on sleep, but you can only do that for so long." As Harry explained I pulled my chair back to an upright position and took out the foodtray from the seat infront of me.

"Do you have a deck of cards?" It was the only thing I could think of to do. Harry did, and soon we had a fun game of snap.
