The Flute Player (1)

"Your test results have come back," the doctor said as soon as the door closed. I nervously looked at him, fidgiting.
"And?" My voice was barely audible. I watched him closely as he went behind his desk and to his files. I couldn't see anything in his eyes, his body language didn't suggest anything. I wanted him to hurry. I had a concert to perform in tonight, and I couldn't be late. One Direction was counting on me to play my flute with them.
"I'm sorry, Leah, but the results aren't good." The doctors eyes were sympathetic, and went on to explain the details. I didn't listen. From that moment on, I knew that the dream I was living would come to an end.

5. Packing

Louis' Point of View

Paul had instructed us to go back home and pack our bags, enough for a few weeks in America. We were to leave ASAP. What was going on? Why didn't Paul tell us what we were going  to do? Maybe I could convince him to take El with us....

I shook my head as I came to my flat (apartment), I unlocked the door, went in and quickly locked the door again. The door opened straight up to an open-concept room which had the kitchen on one side, the eating area in the middle and then the living area, all in one, amazingly comfy and airy space.

I threw my car keys onto the kitchen counter, took my phone and headed towards the master bedroom. I dailed El's number.

"Lou! Whats up?!" Eleanor whispered in response. Great... I must have caught her in class. "Just wait a second, babe...." There was background noise as I imagined El raising her hand and than asking to excuse herself. Her professers there understood that if I phoned during class, it must be something bad, so they always let her through.

As I waited for El to get out of the classroom I went into my walk-in wardrobe and took out a suitcase and a duffel bag which I could take on the plane.

"Sorry about that, Lou. What's up?" Eleanor said a few moments later. I put down my cellphone and put it on speaker.

"Umm.... we have to cancel our weekend away this weekend," I apoligized as I threw a few pairs of pants and shirts in the suitcase. Next, I reached for a pair of suspenders and... I searched the messy walk-in for a belt.

"Aww! Why, Lou?"

"Paul has booked us tickets to go to America today... we don't know how long we'll be there for. He said it's a last minute thing to surprise this girl... I don't know." I shurgged. "There will most likely be interviews mixed in as well." Then I found my belts. I put in my three favorite and then headed towards where my shoes were.

"Oh, Lou!" Eleanor groaned in dissapointment. "I'd love to come with you boys... I'll pay my way!"

"No... you will not," I quickly said. "If anything, I'll pay for you. I'll go phone Paul now and ask."

"Okay... love you, bye."

"Bye." I took a few more items and put them into the suitcase. That should about do it.... now I needed to pack my hairstuff and toothbrush and toothpaste. That would still fit in the suitcase, so I quickly took all the hair stuff I'd need incase our hairstylest wasn't going to come, and then put my toothbrush and toothpaste in plastic bags and threw it all in the suitcase.

After that, I phoned Paul as I searched around my house for anything I'd need. My iPod... my laptop... a few books.... a stuffed bear, just because... and my own pillow and blanket. I wasn't sure what else I would need, but as I walked around my house, I was sure to find more.

By the time I had gathered those items and collected a few games for an xbox (if there was one) and a few movies which the lads and I all really enjoyed, the call with Paul had ended. Paul had given in, and El was going to come with us to America!
