"He couldn't take his eyes off her, the beat of the bass powering him to do new things that he had never thought of doing. The way she moved caused his hands to sweat, body to shake and an overwhelming heatto rush through his bones every time he looked at her.." WARNING: smut, smut, smut.

5. Chapter Four

The air outside was cool, the wind breezily moving the branches side to side. I pulled a gray t-shirt over my head, running a hand through my hair quickly. As hard as I tried to focus on the emails I was quickly looking through, she kept running through my mind. I persevered as much as possible, removing every trace of her out of my mind. I really don't understand why I am trying so hard to let my mind run dry of every though about her, it is impossible. Kara Wilson is unforgettable. Her figure is perfect, smooth curves giving her a beautiful shape. Her skin is unbelievably soft, easy to touch although hard to stop. Every part of her is absolutely breathtaking, but her eyes. Her eyes instantly captivated me, from the moment we meet in Doncaster to now. They are brilliant, a contrast to her auburn hair that fell in waves to her mid back. I could stare into them all day, if she'd let me. Her whole image she gives off, the big shot actress, is all an act -- ironic, isn't it. I know the real Kara, the Kara I met and fell in love with. The job seemed to change her, she used to be a caring, innocent girl. Now, its like this pressure she had to carry on her shoulders, this... heat that ran through her body making her sleep with guys each night, and get caught drinking in the papers. That is not the Kara I know, even if I slept with her last night.

"Lou?" I heard a soft knock on the door.

"You can come in," I sighed as I sat on the end of the mattress, waiting to see who would appear at the door. Harry. His tall figure took up the whole door frame, and I expectantly waited for what he had to say.

"Are you all right," he exhaled while walking to a blue leather couch I had in my room. His question made my eyebrows raise in curiosity as I took in a breath.

"Yes, I'm fine. Why?" He fiddled with his hands, running one quickly though his mop of curls.

"Ever since last night, you'd been kind of..." I looked down at my feet, my bright blue gaze avoiding his. He didn't have to tell me.

"Yeah, and I don't need you to tell me." I rolled my eyes, taking after Kara. I know what I did, I didn't need my best friend pressing on me about it.

"Whatever, man," he got up, running a hand quickly through his curls and brushed his hands on his jeans. He hurried towards the door, until I stood in front of him blocking his path.

"Harry, I'm sorry. After this whole experience I'm just kind of... lost," I sighed, Harry giving me a quick hug. He opened the door, walking out.

"Maybe Kara can help you get found!" he laughed jokingly, but in all reality, I didn't take it as a joke.

Two months later

I shoved open the doors into the ballroom, my gold dress flowing behind me. My hair was curled in soft waves, falling down my right shoulder. (http://www.polyvore.com/ballroom_with_one_direction/set?id=68087528) My black pumps clicked on the antique ceramic seashell colored tiles as my eyes searched the people walking by. I cautiously sidestepped an oncoming waiter carrying a tray of red wine , which I gladly took a glass and walked on. I searched for Jess, finding her at the table. She stood in her elegant black dress, hair in a dazzling bun on the side of her head. Her eyes searched around the room, she looked so... antsy. I watched her amusedly from behind a large marble column. She smiled at an attractive tall man that walked up to her with an unmistakeable head of curls I could recognize anywhere. Where there's one, the other four are not far behind. I sighed, plastering a smile on my face before walking through the maze of tables and chairs.

"Hello, Harry," I said breathlessly as I neared them.

"Kara! It's so good to see you, love! I haven't in such a long while," he flashed his breathtaking smile while wrapping his long arms around me for a quick hug, "the boys are excited to see you," he winked and I laughed, trying hard not to roll my eyes at his statement. I pulled a chair out, wiggling in next to Harry.

"Where are the beasts anyway," I chuckled at my own joke, observing as Harry snorted and Jessica smiled brightly? His head nodded towards the restrooms, rolling his eyes.

"They had been in there the whole night," I laughed, taking a sip of my red wine. I felt a light breathing on the back of my neck, making me shiver and stand in fear.

"What the fu-," I laughed when I saw Niall, smiling at me like he had when after I yelled at him. "Ni!" I screamed, not trying as hard to contain my excitement. I wrapped my arms around him, smiling and laughing into his shoulder. Over the two months, Niall and I had become very close. We met up when Harry and Jess had their dates, which was almost every night. The boys had to stay in New York longer than they expected, so when the two months was over their makeshift house was stripped from them. The five of them moved into the loft with us, much to Jessica's approval. Harry and Jess bunked together, Niall and I bunked together, Liam and Zayn bunked together, but Louis? He was never home, always out partying and drinking late into the evening. Nobody ever saw him except Harry, when Louis would sneak into their room and grab a new pair of clothes and a shower. It didn't bother us much, the six of us becoming used to it. Recently, the boys and Jess just came home for a two week trip to Europe, visiting their families leaving me alone.

"Kara, I missed you," he smiled and took me into his arms, holding me tightly as uncontrollable giggles escaped my lips. He laughed, before taking a lock of my hair and wrapping it around his finger carefully, re-curling the piece. I smiled and pecked his lips, before sitting down in my chair next to Harry. Niall shimmied in next to me, taking a sip of my wine. "I don't know why you like that shit, it tastes disgusting," he spat before chugging his glass of water. I laughed as I watched him eye me from the corner of his blue gaze. I made a face, causing him to almost spit the liquid out.

"Ahem," a voice cleared their throat and all eyes at the table looked up to see who it was. The other three boys stood tall, looking marvelous in their suits. Jessica squealed and got up to hug all of them, and I anxiously waited behind her to give them hugs. I had grown to like the four boys, since they did live with me. It was surprisingly fun when they were around, and eerily lonely when they were gone.

"You both look stunning," Zayn spoke to Jessica and I, ogling our bodies that were snuggly fit into the beautiful dresses we wore. Niall hit Zayn in the arm, giving him the saddest attempt of a death stare.

"Nobody looks at my best friend that way," he struggled to hold back a giggle until Zayn let out the pure sound, causing Niall to join in. I rolled my eyes at their immature ways, and took a sip of my wine. My eyes wandered around the room, looking up from my lap to face him. His electrifying blue eyes burned into mine, causing my heart to skip beats. I looked down, tears stinging at my eyes as I remembered two months ago what had happened. He didn't even have the courtesy to stay at his own flat that morning! I rolled my eyes, trying to hold back the drops of liquid. Few rolled down my cheeks, and I quickly tried to wipe them away but Niall saw.

"Kara, what's happening," he asked concerned, gently wiping the tears with his thumb. I nodded my head, looking away from him. He made sure nobody saw the stray, salty tears appear on my face before asking again. I knew he was gazing at me, I felt his eyes on me as I looked down again. "It's him, isn't it," he whispered and all I could do was nod. I took a breath as Niall wrapped me in his protective hold, glaring at Louis until he became aware. The lights dimmed and bright flood light took everyones attention towards the stage. A plump man wearing a black petticoat and bow tie appeared on stage, he slowly made his way to the pedestal as everyone clapped. I had no idea who the hell he was, but oddly enough, everyone else did.

"Good evening, everyone! Welcome to the Ball of the Vadicade! This is a very important event for people in the music or video industry, as you can probably make out the faces in the crowd. If you don't know who I am, I'm Jim Kimbleton, the creator of Kimbleton Records," he paused as cheering erupted throughout the crowd, and I rolled my eyes at the cockiness this man possessed. He started to talk about his career as the creator, how hard it was to start off and how much money is made now. My eyes wandered the room, gazing at the beautiful high ceilings and glass raindrop chandeliers that hung around the room. Marble in colors of seashells made the foundation of the room, each holding a different emblem that was carefully sculpted into the rock. My gaze moved to Niall, his eyes didn't move from Louis throughout the whole speech. "I just want to thank you all for coming, and enjoy the rest of your night!" The man's red face contorted into a creepy smile, his eyes opening wide as he gazed around the room. He walked off the stage as people went back to their conversations in the dimly lit room. My eyes found Niall again, who still hadn't taken his harsh glare off Louis. I shook his arm, standing and pulling him up with me.

"We'll... be right back!" I smiled at the table, carefully pulling Niall through the maze of moving chairs and people. He crossed his arms as I pulled him behind a marble column, giving him a quick glare. "Niall, what the hell are you doing," I rolled my eyes and sighed, while Niall just looked away from me, his jaw prominent. "Niall, stop. Its over now, and we don't care anymore, right?" I scolded him as his features softened, his eyes becoming sweet again.

"Right," he smiled as he grabbed my wrist and pulled my to the open bar.

"Really, water isn't enough for you? We have to be classy tonight, Ni," I laughed as he ordered a couple of pints for the boys and himself. He giggled, turning his gaze to me.

"Well, I'm not a really a classy kinda guy," he snorted and I shook my head in agreement, impatiently tapping my fingers to the bar top. The bartender delivered four pints, of course not one for Liam. Niall didn't understand why Liam refused to drink even with his two functioning kidneys. I held two of the four, walking carefully behind Niall as he clumsily walked through the ocean of people. "Pints for all!" he cheered as we neared the table, handing Zayn his glass of beer. Harry nodded in agreement, taking a glass for himself and handing the other to Louis. I sat down, taking a sip of my freshly poured wine and sighed. I heard my phone go off in my purse, so I quickly grabbed my black clutch and pulled it out. There was a text message from a number I didn't know. I cautiously opened the message.

"I'm sorry. x" I immediately looked up at Louis, who was focusing on me and not the boys rowdy chatter. His eyes held mine for a couple seconds before I looked down and typed a reply.

"No, you're not. 'x'" I smiled smugly as I watched him receive the message, a frown of frustration appearing on his face. My phone buzzed, and I opened the message.

"Yes, I am. x" I was about to set my phone down when another message was received. "Kara, do you not remember when we met in Doncaster?" My mouth fell open, my eyes searched his as I finally understood. His body was so familiar to me, his features so easy to see. What I couldn't wrap my mind around was the fact that we were together. That we actually had love... I remember him leaving me for the slut that he found on the street late in the evening. I remember coming home to see a girl on his lap, stripping. I remember him telling me he was drunk, that nothing happened, that she just appeared. I remember being completely devastated, crying for weeks. I remember falling in love with him...

"That makes it even worse." I typed out, attempting to hold back the tears that threatened to fall. I heard a sigh across the table, before my phone buzzed again.

"Kara, I'm so sorry. I don't know why I did that, and why I tried to cover it up. I should have just been honest to you, love. I miss you. x" I rolled my eyes and closed the message, throwing my phone into my bag. I tugged on the sleeve of Niall's blazer, wiping away the tears that had forced themselves out. Niall turned to look at me, immediately seeing the tears.

"Kara, what's happening, love?" Worry washed over his facial expression, reflecting in his eyes as well. I sighed, wiping away a stray tear.

"Take me home," I whispered as he nodded his head and stood.
