Ally’s POV

“Ha! There it is,” Liam exclaimed as he points at the McDonald’s ahead.

He pulled out of the highway and enters the drive thru section of the lot.

Pausing right before the first window, he opens the centre console, pulls out a Lakers cap and shoves it over his hoodie.

Liam grinned, his brown eyes well hidden behind his mirrored Ray Bans.

“Regular lad or what?” he asked me as he turns toward me, brow arching.

I rolled my eyes for the second time today at his ridiculous disguise.

“Of course,” I muttered sarcastically. “Because a Lakers cap and Ray Bans is an automatic regular lad camouflages. We were lucky at the theme park, Li. Not many teens were looking around for a celebrity… but not everyone goes around driving a… a…” I tried to describe the car we were in currently.

“Camaro,” he inserted.

“Right. Camaro. Not everyone drives a Camaro and wears a disguise like that. You’re basically screaming out I’m-A-Celebrity-But-In-A-Disguise,” I said.

“You wanna eat or not?” he mocked, knowing how hungry I was. He begins to pull out of the drive in.

“No… It’s okay,” I shouted in horror. “Let’s grab a burger Mr. Regular Lad.”

Once he lowers his window, the aroma of the fries sizzling in the fryer is overwhelming and my stomach screams out in protest.

Liam orders 2 Big Mac, 2 Large fries and 2 large sodas with an extra gigantic vanilla shake.

I push away the image of the huge amount of calories I was gonna be taking in, and the image of what I needed to burn them wasn’t far behind.

When he pulls up to the window, the girl working the register tells him the total as she turns towards him and then nearly stops breathing.

I could relate. I had done the exact same thing when I’d first seen Liam and the guys.

I’d been gawking at Liam the first time we met.

He handed her a fifty and I watch as her hands shake as she pulls bills and coins from the cash drawer.

She started her tally over four times as she tries so hard to ignore the Adonis look a like metres away but fails… miserably.

Finally she hands him back his change, forgetting to count it back.

Wide-eyed, her hands still trembling, she just shoves the money into Liam’s hands all at once.

“Thanks babe,” Liam smirks at her and instantly I’m worried she might faint, from both the babe comment and the sexy smile he sends her.

“You’re… You’re welcome,” she squeaked out, backing away from the window before disappearing around a corner.

Liam stuffed the wadded bills into the front of his jeans and tosses the coins into the cup holder as we wait for the food.

“Uh… this is just a guess Li, but I think she may have seen through your elaborate disguise,” I mocked.

His mouth twisted up one side. “Being a smart ass, aren’t ya babe?”

“Just saying.”

Four girls and one guy, all five of them were cramped into the tiny window space to deliver our food, which fit only into a large paper bag and a set of cup holder.

Our original cashier hands Liam the shake as the other four pairs of eyes next to her dart back and forth between me and Liam.

It doesn’t take long for them to figure out who I am too. I heard my name whispered amongst them.

“Yeah. It’s definitely Liam. Alisha [I cringed at this] wouldn’t dare cheat on him. Heck, no girl would be dumb enough to,” a brunette said in her British accent.

“Uh-huh. That’s definitely Liam. Britney said that that’s how she recognized them. She saw Ally and click,” a girl with her blonde hair in a pixie cut added. “She knew it was Liam Payne.”

At a look at the cashier girl, her name tag reads ‘Britney’.

Damn, so that meant Liam’s disguise had worked. I’d just given him up.

“Would you like extra napkins?” Britney asked as she pulled out a stack three inches thick and shoves it at Liam before any reply.

“Here’s your straw,” pixie-cut girl waved it out the window, blinking rapidly as Liam reached out to take it from her hand.

I bit back a growl as I saw her flirtingly smile at what was definitely mine.

“Will there be anything else?” the boy asked, but not at Liam. At me, directing a full out blinding smile.

“No, thanks. This is great,” Liam grunted out.

He pulls out after smiling at them again, making the girls sigh.

The guy shoots me a wink before we disappear.

We park near an exit, windows down as he wolfs down the burger after handing me mine.

I take a dainty bite, savouring the taste of the melted cheese against the pattie.

“Sorry for that,” I apologized after taking another bit.

“For what, Als?” he asked me, then takes a sip out of his soda?

“Your disguise worked. They only recognized you because of me,” I replied.

“How?”

“Well they recognized me and Britney; the cashier girl thought that I’d be stupid to cheat on you. Thus, concluding that you were the disguised guy.”

He smirked at this.

“Remember that, Als,” he said, cryptically. “You’d be dumb to cheat on me.”

I knew he was joking but I just felt my stomach constrict as the words left his mouth.

Was I cheating on him by thinking of Harry?

A better question. Why was I even thinking of Harry when I was with sweet, sexy Liam? Why?

Just before I could voice my thoughts from back at the them park, a couple of shifty looking guys pull up next to us in a beat up Sedan, eyeballing not so much the Camaro as who’s in it.

Liam tenses up and watched the two men for about twenty seconds before muttering a simple, “Hmm… Time to jet.”

I barely had time to rebuckle before he revved the engine, reversed out of the end spot and accelerated straight out of the lot with the Sedan in pursuit.

I looked back, only having my fears confirmed they’re right behinds us.

A maniacal smile spreads across the passenger face before a large black camera obscures it.

“Tabloids?” I asked Liam even though I already know the answer.

He nodded. “Uh… yeah. I don’t know how they found us.”

“Maybe a couple of you admirers called them from back at McDonalds?”

He smirked. “Maybe,” he agrees before chuckling deeply.

“What?” I asked. “What’s funny?”

“Nothing.”

“Liam… That was not a ‘nothing’ chuckle. What is it?”

“Nothing, Als,” he answered before breaking off into laughter again.

“Liam James Payne, WHAT ARE YOU LAUGHING ABOUT?”

“I just… I just…” he paused as he breathes in some air. “I knew you were jealous.”

“Jealous? Me?” I snapped. “What about?”

“Those girls,” he replied. “You were jealous of them flirting with me.”

“No… No, I wasn’t.

My cheeks flush red at being caught.

“It’s alright, love. I was too.”

“Of the girls?”

“No, silly,” he smirked. “The guy couldn’t stop staring at ya. I nearly pummelled the poor prick.”

“Awe… so sweet Liam,” I mutter as I wrapped my fingers around his. “But next time, just growl. That’s way sexier.”

He smiles.

“At least you’re mine. You’ll always be mine.”

“They’re still behind us,” I said as I catch the Sedan catching up.

“Not for long,” he said determined as we hit the entrance ramp to the freeway, and he’s going ninety before we’re fully on the freeway.

Gliding around slower, we lose the Sedan in the rush of the evening traffic.
