6. A Hidden Secret

Skyler drifted home on a cloud. She didn’t know what about him, but Liam made her feel so comfortable, so safe that just being in his arms made her forget anything ever wrong in her life. But it didn’t mean they were gone. No, they were still there. Hidden. Deep down where no could see. Where no one dared look. When Skyler was younger, she used to love that movie Hocus Pocus which always played on Disney Channel during Halloween. It really wasn’t the movie but the song the witch sang. She later learned it was a poem Edgar Allan Poe wrote.

Come little children
I’ll take thee away, into a land
of Enchantment
Come little children
the time’s come to play
here in my garden
of Shadows
Follow sweet children
I’ll show thee the way
through all the pain and
the Sorrows
Weep not poor childlen
for life is this way
murdering beauty and
Passions
Hush now dear children
it must be this way
to weary of life and
Deceptions
Rest now my children
for soon we’ll away
into the calm and
the Quiet
Come little children
I’ll take thee away, into a land
of Enchantment
Come little children
the time’s come to play
here in my garden
of Shadows

It was creepy and scary and comforting all at the same time for Skyler. All she ever wanted was to leave and this was someone offering to take her away from everything to somewhere safe…like Liams arms.

Skyler grew up in a good home. Her mom wasn’t a drunk, her dad didn’t beat them. Actually, it was the opposite she was raised by the perfect parents in the perfect home with the perfect life.

So why wasn’t she happy?

Maybe it was because she was bullied
Or that was because she was different
Maybe it was her friends were never there for her
Or that was because she only picked the needers
Maybe it was because she thought she was fat
Or that was because people told her so
Maybe it was because she stopped trusting
Or that was because she trusted the human race so much that they just had to Screw her over at 14
Maybe it was because she was raised to ignore her feelings
Or that was because she choose to ignore them anyway
MAYBE it was all these things put together that when 8 people she knew, 6 of them being people she was close to, died in one year it pushed her over the end. So far over that all she could choose was to leave and never come back. Because that’s all she knew, all she understood.

Skyler knew that night when she went to sleep she’d have to deal with reality the next day.

But you know what?

She didn’t care.

She just didn’t.
