Mistakes (1D fan-fic)

"He was a skater boy, she said 'see ya later boy,' He wasn't good enough for her. And now he's a super star, slamming on his guitar to show pretty face just what he's worth." This is the story of Melaine Gray's life after she runs into the new kid her sophomore year. He falls for her, and she does too, but she won't admit it, and she soon regrets not telling him how she really felt 5 years

1. 1

I ran across the pavement in front of the school, hoping to make it before the first period bell rang. I rammed the front door and started charging up the stairs to the Sophomores' hall. All of a sudden I ran into something. My bag and my books fell to the floor and I scrambled to pick them up. A guy, probably who I ran into, squatted down and helped me pick up my stuff.

I looked up at him. My eyes caught his beautiful blue eyes. For a moment we just stayed there, staring, until I turned away blushing. He helped me stand up and I realized I had never seen him before.

"I'm Louis. Louis Tomlinson," He greeted me and held out his hand for me to shake. I took it and felt tingles shoot up my arm at his touch. The bell rang and I silently groaned in my head because I was now officially late.

"I'm Melaine. I haven't seen you around before, are you new?" I asked, already knowing the answer. I was the most popular girl in school, I knew everybody. I looked him up and down. He had on red sweatpants and a striped top. He held an old skate board in his hand. This guy needed some serious fashion advice. I decided right then and there I would talk to him as little as possible because hanging out with someone like him would totally ruin my image.

"Yeah. I just moved here." He smiled and I kept a straight face, though his smile made me really want to.

"Wheres your schedule?" I asked. He looked at me confused. "Where's your class schedule?" I asked again and he chuckled as he pulled a piece of paper out of his pocket.

I sighed, but too quiet for Louis to hear me. We had every single class together. Great. Avoiding him would be harder than I thought. "We have all the same classes. You can be my excuse for being late to class." I said and walked off to my locker. I opened it up and stuffed my stuff inside, grabbing what I needed for Mr. Croan's math class. Louis was right beside me. When I closed my locker, I looked back to his schedule which had his locker number and combo on it. "703. Thats this one. Right by mine." Maybe this was fate? I sure hope not. I mean yeah, he was really cute, but nobody would like him if he kept wearing what he was right now.

I gave him his schedule back and he glanced at the combo and quickly put it in. When he was ready I guided him to math.

I opened the door and everyone looked to me. "Miss Gray, I hope you have a good excuse for being late to my class yet again," Mr. Croan half asked half stated.

Then Louis walked in and I answered, "He's new, and I showed him the way." I walked to my chair next to Ryan and Ashley, two of my best friends.

"Whats with his pants," Ashley asked.

"I don't know. I ran into him when I was running to class, and now hes like a puppy dog. We have every single class together and his locker is right next to mine. Talk about creepy." They both nodded in agreement and Mr. Croan told Louis to sit by Ryan.
We all sat through the whole class silently, trying to avoid a conversation with Louis.

By the end of the day, I was sick of him. Everywhere I looked he was standing right there. I stuffed my bag with homework and started walking down the hallway and out the door. As I walked down the sidewalk, I heard footfalls behind me. I didn't want to turn around for fear of who it might be.

"Hey, I started walking home and noticed you were going the same way. Mind if I walk with you?" Louis asked as he fell into place beside me.

I hesitantly replied, "Sure," without looking towards him.

"Do you have a problem with me? Because it seems like you do," he said.

I stopped walking and glanced around to see if anybody I knew could see me. I looked Louis right in the eye and said, "Look, its just... I don't know. I just... need my life." And I started walking away and down my driveway.

I heard Louis yell behind me, "Whats that supposed to mean?" But I didn't answer. I opened my door and slammed it shut. I ran up my stairs and into my bedroom. I jumped onto my bed and started bawling. I couldn't believe I had been so mean to him!

I sat up for a moment and looked out my window. Through the window in the house next door, I saw Louis sitting at a desk with his head in his hands, probably crying.

"I'm sorry," I whispered. I layed back down and cried myself to sleep.
