Jolly Holiday

Shelbie was a fashion designer. Very low key, living in upper Manhattan with her junkie brother. Then she got her big break. And that big break, went by One Direction.

"So what are you all really doing here?" I asked with a small smile on my lips.

"I had to see you." Louis said, as I lay wrapped up in his arms on Jessica's couch, "I know we have a snowball's chance in hell of making this work, but I think we should try."

"And I couldn't take the sulking anymore." Zayn said from his spot on the Lazy Boy.

"And I had just as much warning as you did, Babe. I had no idea they were planning this." Harry admitted.

"You all are the best, you know that?" I mumbled, only partially conscious, "We should probably watch the news." I said, pushing myself into a sitting position, "Someone told me there might be some storms blowing in soon."

I grabbed the remote and flipped to WHAS, the local weather channel.

"Thanks for joining us on this lovely March 1, 2012. Right now the skies are clear and the ground is dry, but it shouldn't be staying that way for long. We're tracking a few severe storms that have been building for days. Yes, folks. I said days.

"These storms could pack potential wind speeds in excess of 200 miles per hour. You can be expecting hail, the size of which has yet to be determined. And yes, there is a very good chance that we could be seeing some very severe thunderstorms.

"If you're within our viewing area, I suggest that you begin to pack away some essentials in your designated safe place. We'll be keeping you updated as to what time exactly you can be expecting these storms all through tomorrow. For the weather forecast, I'm Monty Webb with WHAS11 News. Back to you, Jack."

I rolled my eyes as I flipped the TV off, "Should we be concerned?" Louis asked. There was obvious worry on his face.

"No, these weather stations around these parts, they blow things way out of proportions. It'll be fine. Tomorrow will just be like any other day."

"What the hell do they mean by 'safe place'?" Zayn asked, "Does every home in America have a bomb shelter in the back yard?"

"No, by safe place, they just mean anywhere without windows. A basement, a closet, a bathroom, a cellar. But guys, we have these warnings all the time. There really is no need at all to get all riled up about it." I assured them.

March 2, 2012 dawned bright and cheerful. My first day without my sister. I was going to make myself be happy. I was not going to let this bring me down.

"Who wants to go to the diner?" I asked, as the boys finally came out of their sleep-induced haze.

It was just like any other day.
