SeaStar

Evangeline Jones, or Eva, was on a beach during summer vacation in California when her life was changed forever. Max Simons has always lived in sunny Los Angeles, California, in fact he’s never been out of the state. Max has a history of bad break-ups, but will a certain temporary new-comer change all of that? And will a horrible accident keep them apart? Is Blake there only hope of finding each other? It all started with a Sea Star.

4. Finding Her

I hate hospitals, but I need to stay by Max's side. I feel like it's all my fault because I was right there and I just stood there watching. I remember it like it happened five seconds ago, I walked up to the boring souvinir store where the guys and I where going to meet up at that night. Then I saw it, a car was swirving back and forth at full throttle. I seen the people in the car, they were freaking out. I think two of the tires blown, it wasn't their fault. Then I saw Max, I wanted to say something, anything but my mouth wouldn't work. He waved at me, then I guess he caught on to why I was looking behind him and looked to his right. In real life, car crashes can be just like the movies. It was in slow motion and very destructiive. Then Max was bleeding and I called 9-1-1. They came in five minutes, the hospital is only a few blocks down. I went on the ambulence with him to the hospital, on the way there I called his family and told them something terriable has happened and to meet me at the hospital. When we got to the hospital, I was told to stay in the waiting room. His whole family rushed in about a half an hour later. I've been here for three hours now and yes, it's very boring. Well there was old re-runs of I Love Lucy on the waiting room tv, but the popular ones I've seen a hundred times before. A nurse came up to us with a sullen face that scared me, "Family and friends of Max Simons, may go see him now. Unfortunaly, he hasn't waken up yet and we're afraid he might be in a coma". A coma? This is more serious than I thought. We followed her to the room, where I saw Max lying on a bed looking very broken.

I haven't seen Max since this afternoon and I'm worried. I'm still waiting at the store and my family are going to want me to come back to hotel soon. Wait, I just realized something. I run as fast as I can, I need to get to that beach.

His family left, the babysitter refused to watch Max's little brother and sister overnight and his parents don't want them to see Max like that. I've been thinking about the last time Max and I spoke to each other. Last night, he called me all happy about a girl he met on some unkown beach he never told me about. He kept saying something about a shell or sanddollar or something that he gave her. I know very few things about her, but I feel responsable for what happened to Max so I'm going to find her, no matter what.
