The Champion: The Legend of the White Magnolia

(("I love good and pleasure, I hate evil and pain, I want to be happy and I am not mistaken in believing, that people, angels and even demons have those same inclinations."
- Nicolas Malebrance))

Demons and Angels have always fought each other, ever since the first sun rose up, they have sought to kill one another. In every single history book, they will be mentioned shedding the opposites blood. It is inevitable.

But also, in such history books, a single person is mentioned. A Hero. A Savior. A Champion.

8. Chapter 2 - Dominic

Dominic

He would have spread his wings and flown to her, but one of the consequences of being an Abomination was that his wings didn't work as well as an Angels or Demons did, and the rain only made it harder on him.

Luckily, according to the GPS, he was close to where she had called him. Sometimes he'd try to fly, but it was like they just wouldn't lift him properly and then they would turn sore.

As the Humans noticed him running, they quickly jumped to assumptions that he had committed a crime and began yelling at him. “Murderer!” or “Thief!” were the most commonly used, and some even yelled: “Call the police!” And over half of the people in the street did.

They didn't exactly make it any easier for him, as they did their best to stand in his way and blocked his way with whatever they could. They really hated him.

He even had his own special group of police officers that would show up in specialized armors and weapons, in case he would do something unexpected.

Livi would say that they're just playing “the boy who cried wolf” and eventually, they'd become tired of it, but no. This was nothing like that. For 10 years, the same police group had come for him, and not every time did he escape. He had been to prison 13 times.

As he was running through the crowded street, a smaller store on the side pushed out a shelf full of vegetables and fruits. He usually had quick reflexes, yet this came a bit too late and he did his best to flap his wings, but only managed to get a foot or two into the air before he collided with the wooden shelf.

He and the shelf fell hard to the ground. He groaned in pain and barely moved.

He was covered in all kinds of vegetables and fruits, and the rain did its best to either wash it off of him, or hold him down to the ground; which one he couldn't decide.

As he laid there, bleeding a bit, people would spit on him, place their feet on him to hold him down and keep a look out for the police.

He didn't know what to feel.

Angry? Sad? Miserable?

It was at times like these, that he just wanted to stay in the house and lock himself in the cellar, where he would sit and cry silently. People told him to just finish his life already and there were times that he had thought of it, many times. But Livi had always convinced him otherwise.

He had to get away from the scene, he knew they'd soon start torturing him.

The familiar sirens began sounding in the distance, where they quickly grew louder and louder, as the oncoming police rushed down the street and no one hesitated to move to the side and make way for them.

“Bloody Abomination! Now we got you!” One of them said as they stood and looked down at him.

“Just don't resist and we might not hurt you” another said with a grin that told Dominic he'd get hurt no matter what.

Dominic stood up, taller than the Humans, yet shorter than the average of an Angel. He glared down at the police officer that didn't seem touched by his hateful look. Even though it was raining and the weather was hot, he could still feel his blood run down his sides.

He didn't even think before his arm stretched out and knocked out the grinning police officer. Not until the unconscious body hit the ground did he realize what just happened.

Fear spread across his mind as the street grew silent and everyone stood still, with shocking glares at him and the officer on the ground.

His wings instinctively spread themselves, making him ready to take off, no matter how much it was going to hurt him.

But he had to save Livi.
