15. Happy Anniversary 2

I had invited Mina and Sophie over to help me prepare the best anniversary night ever.

Sophie handed me a brown paper bag. ‘Here. This will make Harry the horniest he’s been so far. I guarantee you that,’ she said, smirking. Then, she sat on the sofa, next to Emma, and told her, ‘Hey, Emma, did you miss your Auntie Sophie? God, you’re too cute and you look just like your daddy, you know that?’ Emma was busy playing with her rag doll and didn’t pay much attention to her. ‘She looks just like Harry,’ Sophie told me. She was in awe.

I looked at Emma, smiling. She didn’t only look like Harry; she was pretty much a spitting image of him. Then, I looked inside the bag Sophie had given me. ‘Oh!’ I said, blinking. It was a sexy Miss Santa costume. I took the red hot dress out and asked, staring at it, ‘Are you sure Harry will like this?’

‘Well, none of my boyfriends complained when I wore it on Christmas Day over the years,’ Sophie said, shrugging, yet oh so proudly. ‘This dress’s the reason I’ve had cold Christmas dinners the last few years, actually,’ she added. Sophie was with a different guy every month and even though Mina and I tried to talk to her about this, she wouldn’t listen. You’re my friends, so, take me as I am, she always said, and we left it at that.

‘Speaking of dinner,’ Mina said, putting a big paper bag on the dining table. ‘My fiancé prepared this for you.’ Her long time boyfriend had proposed to her last night and she was still so over the moon. He was a chef and when I called Mina this morning, asking for her help, she begged him to prepare some dinner for Harry and me.

‘Thank you both so much,’ I told them.

‘No problem, babes,’ Mina said, sitting down next to Emma, too.

‘Go on, call Harry now,’ Sophie urged me. I did and it rang a few times before he answered.

Hello?’ he said, coldly.

‘Baby, are you still with Liam?’ I asked, pacing up and down in front of the sofa the girls were sitting on.

I am, yeah, but I’ll come home in a while,’ he replied, yawning.

‘In a while?’

In about half an hour,’ he said, distantly.

‘Baby, is something wrong?’ I asked. He sounded strange.

I’m a little tired, that’s all,’ he lied.

‘Oh, okay. I’ll be waiting for you,’ I told him. ‘I love you.’

Fine,’ he replied, curtly, and hung up.

My mouth fell and I stared at the phone, thinking, Really? Oh, really, now? What could have possibly have happened this time?

‘What’s wrong?’ Sophie asked. Mina was playing with Emma.

‘I honestly don’t know,’ I replied.

When the girls left, they took Emma with them because she would stay the night at her aunties, and I went to get ready. I slipped into Miss Santa’s dress, which was too tight, too short and rather revealing, too. I let my hair loose and didn’t put any shoes on.

I heard keys enter the lock, ran into the living room and when who I thought was Harry walked in, I jumped on him, wrapped my legs around his hips, got his face and kissed his mouth. I knew it wasn’t Harry though the moment my lips touched his, but before I could do anything about it, the guy grabbed my butt, so, I wouldn’t fall down, and returned my kiss, adding a little tongue to it, too. His kiss was familiar and I gasped, pulled away, and opened my eyes. It was Liam. He put me down and winked at me. ‘Hello to you too, love,’ he said with a cocky smirk gracing his mouth.

My hands turned into fists on my sides. ‘Where’s Harry?’ I asked him, infuriated. I had promised myself to never kiss Liam ever again, but here I was once again. Life’s a funny thing.

‘Parking the car,’ Liam replied, coolly. Zayn came inside. Louis and Niall followed.

‘Haz told us to come right up,’ Zayn said but when his eyes fell on me, on what I was wearing, he whispered a surprised, ‘WOW,’ and quickly looked away. Niall turned away, too, his face flushing red.

‘I think we might have interrupted something,’ Louis said, giving me a warm smile.

‘It’s our one year Anniversary,’ I told them.

The four boys exchanged looks and it looked as if they were communicating with each other with their thoughts. Harry finally walked in and everybody looked at him, including me. When he saw what I was wearing, he swallowed with difficulty, clenched his jaw but adjusted the cold, indifferent look on his face right away.

‘Why didn’t you tell us you and Bess had plans, mate?’ Niall asked. He had a hand over his eyes, avoiding looking at me.

Harry shrugged and didn’t reply. Then, he shot me a cold stare before he told me, ‘I invited the boys over for dinner and some drinks. You don’t mind, do you, love?’ He spat the last word.

I frowned, hugged myself and shook my head back and forth. ‘There’s some dinner on the table. Knock yourselves out,’ I said in a flat voice and walked away. I went into the bedroom and sat on the end of the bed. To my surprise, Harry followed me. He closed the bedroom door, moved closer, stood in front of me and folded his arms.

‘You’re probably wondering why I’m being like this,’ he said, looking down at me but I didn’t lift my head up. I didn’t bother replying either because I knew that this had something to do with Liam. I stared at my legs, clutching the duvet, and he went on, ‘When I went over at Liam’s today, Danielle was there. She wanted to know all about the little fling you and Liam had last year, so, I overheard him telling her everything about you. At one point, he told her about the time he had kissed you in the gym’s pool, a week before we got married. He explained that he wanted to make love to you that day but you turned him down and begged him not to tell me about it.’ Harry paused for a moment before he asked, ‘Why did you keep that a secret from me?’

I lifted my eyes up to his face. ‘Nothing happened,’ I told him. My voice was trembling.

Harry kneeled in front of me and put his hands behind my knees. ‘That’s not what I asked, beautiful,’ he told me, calmly, and asked again, ‘Why did you keep it a secret from me?’ I stared into his eyes but kept my mouth shut. ‘Do you still have feelings for Liam?’ he asked, his bright green eyes welling up.

I grabbed his face and brought it only an inch away from mine. ‘Baby, no,’ I cried. ‘He’s only a friend,’ I said. Was I lying? Probably. Liam and I could never only be friends. There was too much history there. Plus, we were as compatible as peanut butter and jelly are.

‘Louis, Niall and Zayn are your friends too but you don’t look at them the way you look at Liam. I’m often jealous of the way you look at him,’ Harry confessed. ‘But I don’t make a big deal of it because you two have gone your separate ways.’

‘See,’ I told him, smiling. ‘There’s nothing to worry about,’ I lied. ‘Besides, he’s back with Danielle now.’

Harry nodded and without saying another word, he leaned over my legs. He softly kissed my one thigh and then the other. He nuzzled my stomach, while his hands sneaked under my dress, and I ran my hands through his hair, kissing it. There was a knock and we both sighed.

Liam opened the door, saying, ‘Hey, guys, we’re going to watch a film. Come join us.’

‘Sure,’ I told him and he winked at me again before he left.

Harry got up and took my hands, making me get up, too. ‘I’m sorry I’ve ruined what you had planned for us tonight because I got a little jealous,’ he said, guiltily.

I shrugged. ‘Never mind. We have the rest of our lives to spend romantic nights together,’ I told him, smiling. ‘Because I’m forever yours. And you’re forever mine, Mr. Styles. Never forget that.’ He looked a tad relieved and a tad happier after that. Then, I turned my back to him. ‘Help me change into something warmer and less slutty,’ I said, jokingly. Harry took his time to unzip my dress because he was hungrily nibbling my neck and shoulder. When he tried to unhook my bra, I walked away from him. ‘Your friends are waiting for us, baby, remember?’ I told him over my shoulder.

‘You’re killing me here,’ he said through his teeth and in a gruff voice. His eyes were fixed on my body while I wandered around the room in my underwear and he dug his hands in his jeans’ pockets, restraining himself.

‘You kind of deserve it though,’ I said, slipping into my favorite purple pjs.

He cleared his throat. ‘I do,’ he agreed, nodding once.

Then, I took his hand. ‘Come on, let’s go,’ I said but before we left the bedroom, Harry whispered into my hair, ‘I find it kind of funny that you put on your favorite purple pjs because we both know that purple is Liam’s favorite color.’
