Until Your Last Breath

Peyton Grey was just an ordinary girl. Well, an ordinarily invisible girl. All through her primary and secondary school life, she was bullied, picked on, and shot down by every male body in the city of London, England. Her parents - split. Her friends - nonexistent. There is only one person in this whole world that can make her feel safe and at home, and that is her best friend, Harry. They've been attached at the hip for as long as they could remember, and whenever she's with him, she feels complete. He says he'll be here for her forever, but her world is flipped upside down after one simple event changes the course of history. Will they rekindle the love between them, or will the incident make them question, "Will you be here until my last breath?"

Peyton's POV:
I continued to kiss him, not wanting this moment to end. After a minute, he pulled away, gasping for air. "I'm sorry, am I being to forward," he asked, going from lustful to caring in 2.5 seconds. I smiled against his lips, "No, you're fine." I looked up at him through my eyelashes, his dark eyes moving to meet mine. "Thank you..." I whispered, realizing that I didn't know his name. He smiled down at me, "Liam."

Last night, after we were done kissing, he drove me home, walking me to my door for extra security. I offered for him to stay the night, considering how late it already was. He said he wanted to, however, he had work in the morning. I was disappointed, but he assured me that he would take me up on the offer, some other night. He kissed me once more, and we went our separate ways. I crashed on my bed, not even bothering to take of my clothes.
*BEEP BEEP* *BEEP BEEP* I was thrown from my dreams back into reality, my alarm clock startling my slumber. I slammed my hand down on top of it, causing the noise to stop. Glancing at the numbers on the clock, they read 11:30am. "Wow, I slept late," I said to myself, not even able to remember what time I had arrived home the night before.
Ripping the blankets from off of my body, I trudged into the bathroom, shocked at the image staring back at me in the mirror. Right now, I was wearing a pair of fabric shorts, and an over sized black T-Shirt, one that I recognized, but not as my own. "How did I get in these," I thought to myself, not recalling ever changing clothes before going to bed. My hair was brushed out of its curls, leading me to the decision to toss it into a messy bun for now. Just then, my stomach growled, signaling how hungry I was.
I headed for the stairs, beginning to smell the sweet scent of bacon. It was mesmerizingly amazing, until it hit me, "Who the hell is in my house?" I went back into my room, grabbing the pepper spray from my bedside table. Tip toeing down the stairs, I was astounded to see the person standing in my kitchen, hovering over the stove.
"Hello?" His head whipped around, and I was happy to see that it was just Liam - a very shirtless Liam, at that. That explains where the shirt came from. "Look who's awake! Did you sleep well," he asked. "Yeah, it was fine," I answered him, suddenly feeling a little exposed. "Liam, how did you get in here? I thought you went home last night," I asked him, very curious. He set his spatula down, gliding across the tile floor to wrap his arms around my waist. He pulled me in close, and I smelled the same intoxication cologne from last night, still lingering on his toned abs. "I was, but then I thought, 'If a gorgeous girl asked me to stay the night, who am I to say no?' When I came back, I noticed the front door was unlocked, so I went upstairs to make sure you were alright, but you were asleep. I didn't think you'd be very comfortable in your dress and heels, so I changed your clothes, then slept in the guest bedroom. I hope you don't mind," he explained, looking at me with puppy dog eyes.
Who could resist those?
"I thought you had to work?" "I just called in, they said it was fine." I smiled, "Wow, Liam. That's really really sweet of you, but you didn't have to do that for me. I can take care of myself." I felt like the damsel in distress, and I didn't like it. But, honestly, it felt really nice having someone who cared about me. It had been so long since I had felt wanted, and the mere thought of it brought tears to my eyes. My sight became blurry, and I was beginning to cry. He tiled my chin up with his thumb and index finger, forcing me to look at him. "Peyton, if you let me, I can take care of you. I can be the one you come home to every night, keeping you safe while you sleep. I can make you feel as beautiful as you really are."
His words were hard to believe, and a tear escaped my eye, leaving a wet trail as it traveled down my cheek. "I don't know, Liam. What if I'm not good enough?" I was nervousness for his answer, but I prepared for the worst. "No, no. Don't talk like that. You are more than good enough. Babe, you're perfect," he said, pressing his lips onto mine. I melted into him, feeling all of my worries disappear.
And just like that, I had fallen for him.
Harry's POV:
I was sitting in my hotel room, doing absolutely nothing. Me and the boys were in the US for promo, but other than work, there was nothing to do. Louis and El went out with Zayn and Perrie for a double date. Niall went to spend time with his friend he brought with him from the UK. He offered for me to tag along, but I said no, trying to avoid a third wheel situation. It was just me and Liam left, but he didn't stick around. He left to go clubbing with one of his old friends. So then, I was alone.
I went into the living room, flipping on the tv to occupy my time. At some point, I must have dosed off, until the ringing of my phone pulled me out of my sleep. I grabbed it and answered, not bothering to look at the caller ID. "Hello?" "Hey, mate. You alright," he asked. It was Liam. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just fell asleep. Where are you?" "Umm, I'm still out. But I wanted to tell you that I won't be back tonight. My friend introduced me to this girl, and she's really special," he told me, and I could hear the smile in his voice. "Ooo, Liam has a little crush! What's her name?" He chuckled with me, "Her name's Peyton." I immediately stopped laughing. Was he serious? Without noticing, I became very defensive. "Liam, we have work in the morning. Don't you think your career is more important than some girl you just met?" He exhaled roughly into the phone, "I already asked management. They said it was alright. I think I called you at the wrong time, you seem a little crabby. I'll see you in the morning, bye." He hung up. I could understand why Liam had gotten so mad about what I'd said. Peyton wasn't just some girl. She was so much more than that.
I dug my face into the couch pillows. "Get it together, Styles. You're getting upset for nothing. Peyton is a very popular name. The odds of it being the same person is highly unlikely. Besides, she doesn't even live here." I tried to ration with myself, a technique I used to keep me calm. As hard as I tried to convince myself otherwise, the thought of Liam being with my Peyton was making my heart race.
He was with her, and I hadn't seen her in over two years. It wasn't fair.
Just then, my phone dinged, telling me I had received a text message. It was from Taylor. 'Hey, Harry. Do you wanna do something tonight? ;)' I rolled my eyes, and replied. 'Not tonight, not in the mood.' I didn't even set my phone down before she had already texted me back. 'We are suppose to be a couple, Harry. Couples spend time together.' I groaned. Why didn't she get that I just wasn't in the mood? 'Taylor, I know that. But at this very moment, I'm not feeling up to it. Can we just leave it at that?' I pressed send, not going to allow her to manipulate me. *DING* 'Is there someone else?' What? Was she implying that I was cheating? I mean, it's not technically cheating, considering we are not really together, but still. She was jumping to conclusions, and it made me think that she actually thought we were in a legitimate relationship. 'No. There is no one else. Don't just assume. I simply do not want to hang out right now,' I sent her back, turning my phone off soon after.
