Until Your Last Breath

Peyton Grey was just an ordinary girl. Well, an ordinarily invisible girl. All through her primary and secondary school life, she was bullied, picked on, and shot down by every male body in the city of London, England. Her parents - split. Her friends - nonexistent. There is only one person in this whole world that can make her feel safe and at home, and that is her best friend, Harry. They've been attached at the hip for as long as they could remember, and whenever she's with him, she feels complete. He says he'll be here for her forever, but her world is flipped upside down after one simple event changes the course of history. Will they rekindle the love between them, or will the incident make them question, "Will you be here until my last breath?"

13. Long Time, No See

Peyton's POV:
Later that day, Liam got called into work, so he had to leave. I knew he couldn't stay forever, but it was hard saying goodbye to the one person who had made me feel so good. He left his number in my phone, and told me that he'd call me later. Although I was still nineteen, being with Liam made me feel like a teenage girl again, getting butterflies whenever you're with that special person.

Maybe an hour or two after he left, my phone started ringing non stop. Andrea called me five times, and she was currently calling a sixth. "Hello? Andrea? Is everything ok?" She was breathing heavy, like she was anxious. "Oh my god, Peyton. Have you seen Liam? Before we left the club last night we couldn't find him, so we figured he went home, but he wasn't there. I thought he would come home this morning to get ready before work, but he never showed. I called him like a million times, but he won't answer. Now he's not here, and I-" I cut her off, "Drea, breathe. Everything is fine. Last night, some guy tried to make a move on me but Liam stopped him. After that we left, and he took me home. He said he was going to leave, but he ended up staying the night here. He left a few hours ago because he got called into work." All of a sudden, the thought of me and Liam staying in the same house made my stomach flutter.

She let out a relieved sigh, and like she had read my mind, she said, "Oh, you spent the night together? Hmm, did you let him get some?" I gasped, "ANDREA! Oh my god, no. It was not like that at all. We didn't even sleep in the same bed, completely different rooms. I am not that kind of girl!" She howled on the other end of the phone, clearly pleased with herself, "Peyton, calm down. I was kidding. I didn't think you guys had done anything. I know you're not like that, and neither is he. That's why we wanted to set you guys up." I smiled, "Well, I guess you're the one I should thank, then. Although me and Liam did not hook up, we still became very... comfortable with each other. He kissed me last night, and ever since then, we had a hard time stopping. As a matter of fact, the first four times you called, I missed them because I was mid-make out session."

I slapped my hand across my mouth, astonished at the words that had left it. I never talked like that. Ever. And the fact that those words had flowed out of my mouth so nonchalant, made me realize, Liam brought out a part of me that I hadn't seen in years. He made me feel... free. I didn't care what anyone else thought about me. I was only concerned with making myself happy, and that's something I thought I had forgotten to do.

Andrea coughed, "Umm, ok, I think that's enough information for one phone call. I'll talk to you later, Peyt." I giggled, "Ok, bye!" I set my phone down, and looked at the clock. 5:00. No wonder I was so hungry, I hadn't eaten in hours. I walked to my closet, throwing on some sweats. I ran down the stairs to grab my keys, and noticed Liam's phone, sitting on the table next to the door. I removed it, stuffing it in my pocket.

I planned to find Liam, that way I could give him his phone back. I never asked him where he worked, but he did tell me he was a singer. Maybe he was recording or something. I drove to a McDonalds to get something quick to eat. I parked in the parking lot of the restaurant, and reached into my pocket for my phone. I was surprised to pull out Liam's phone instead, as I had forgotten that I had it in the first place. I scrolled through his messages, looking for anything that would tell me where he is. 'Wait! Scroll back up!' I obeyed my thoughts and looked at what I had scrolled past, seeing a message from someone named 'Management.' 'Liam, we need you downtown by two thirty. Come to the studio on Main Street. We will be recording from three to six.'

Good! If I hurried, I would be able to make it there before he left. I finished my food and tossed it, putting my car in drive and backing out onto the street. Thirty minutes later, I pulled onto Main Street, trying my hardest to find a parking spot near the building. I finally did ten minutes later, and walked towards the doors, pushing them open. As soon as you walk in, there's a receptionist sitting at a desk, yapping away into the phone. I approached her, catching her eye. At first she looked startled, and I suddenly remembered what I was wearing. She probably thought I was a beggar.

She cleared her throat, "Can I help you?" "Umm, yes. A friend of mine left his phone at my house this morning, and I wanted to return it to him. Do you know where I can find a Liam? He is scheduled to be here between three and six." She looked at the computer screen, clicking her mouse a few times. "Ahh, yes. Liam Payne. Him and his band mates are in studio 47. You can take the elevators other there," she said, pointing me down the hall. Inside the elevator, the walls were all glass, so I took the opportunity to adjust my appearance. After all, I did want to look nice for Liam.

I stepped out of the elevator and walked down the hall, stopping in front of a door with the numbers '47' slapped on it. I knocked quietly, not wanting to disturb any recording. A tall, older man opened the door, and put a finger across his lips, signaling me to be quiet. He motioned for me to come in, and I could hear the sound of several voices harmonizing.

Harry's POV:
Me and the boys were recording in downtown New York, and so far, I thought the album was going pretty well. Right now, we were working on the song called 'Back For You.' Liam was finishing his solo, while the rest of us grabbed a drink. Through the glass door, I could see Paul get up and go to let someone in. It was a woman, but I couldn't tell who. She was dressed in sweats, and she was paying an awful a lot of attention to Liam.

"Harry," a voice shouted through my headphones, "Quit staring and get up so we can finish the song and be done." I listened, and took my position behind the microphone. We finished pretty easily, and packed up our things, preparing to leave. Through the loud speaker, Paul said, "Liam, there is someone here to see you." Liam nodded, and opened the glass door, a smile immediately growing on his face. "Peyton! This is quite a surprise! What are you doing here," he asked, planting a kiss on her lips.

My stomach dropped, and my palms became sweaty. I couldn't believe this. The girl he was with last night, it was my Peyton. I knew it! And did he just kiss her? What kind of relationship did these two have?

She smiled up at him, "You left your phone at my house this morning after breakfast, and I wanted to bring it back to you." He wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her in for a big hug. She looked so happy, and it broke my heart. "Thank you so much, babe. I'm glad you're here, now you can meet my band mates!"

Liam brought her into the recording booth, "This is Niall." They shook hands. "This is Zayn," he said as they introduced each other. "This is Louis." They shook hands also, and Liam moved on to me. My heart was pounding a thousand times a second, and I thought it would explode. "And this is Harry." She went to go shake my hand, but stopped short. The smile faded from her face, a serious expression replacing it. "Hey, Peyt." Her jaw dropped, "H-Harry?"

Well, this is sufficiently awkward.
