CHAPTER SIX

Emily tilelli mailed me on 8th December from Budweiser, asking me if I was interested in doing an advert for television. Only over twenty five’s and payment would be £200 pounds. It would be a whole day’s shoot at the new Wembley stadium and I would get to hold the real FA cup.

On the 14th December I went to victoria station by train, only thirty minute journey, it was right outside the station in a place called Grosvenor gardens as I approached I could see a small camera and a little crowd of people, I went over.

The man with the camera said hello and asked me to go in line, lucky I was third, they wanted me to go in front of camera, holding a card with my name on and tell them what the FA cup meant, one of the men said good luck to me as he went off, he was a Tottenham support, boo arsenal do not like Tottenham.

My turn I went in front of camera and told them I liked the FA cup because I supported arsenal and the 1979 cup final was the best ever cup final and players like Pat Jennings and Frank Stapleton made FA cup memory’s, the camera man said, ‘you are from the old school Robert’ .Two black men were behind me and talking not very good English and I thought they would probably get the part.

Then on the 15th I called this day crazy day, first I had mail from Emily tilelli again saying sorry to have to tell you, you have missed out on the Budweiser advert. I really wish the decision had been up to me, but I will keep you on the books for future projects.

Johnny Lynch texted me and asked me to appear in the feature movie The Magnificent Eleven, being filmed at Eastleigh, I text back saying yes, then I had an e-mail from John H,

Asking me to play an angry protester in a music video for an up and coming star at the Albany theatre Deptford, I place I knew well of course. I mailed him back saying yes I would be there on the Saturday, the Magnificent Eleven was on the Friday the day before.

That evening still on the 15th I got a phone call from a producer asking if I could make a video shoot of a pop video, the scene was in a night club and would be on the Friday and Saturday, now some thing happened that I had never done before, I had to turn down work. I explained to her that I had already promised to do the film on Friday and the music video on the Saturday, so I was sorry but I have to say no and I thanked them for there interest.

So work had now come in droves and I was looking forward to a hectic weekend of shooting, the train to Eastleigh would take around an hour and a half so I would have to leave early in the morning to make the filming but I was set.
