Chapter 2

"Is that all?" I asked the family of four. They all nodded and continued their conversation. I sighed and walked to the the kitchen door, bursting through it, I slapped the piece of paper on the revolving stand and leaned on the counter next to the stove.

I hated this job, people came in every single second of the day and I only got paid 20 dollars an hour.

"Monee order up!" Carter called tapping the bell, I sighed and walked over to the front behind the bar and grabbed two plates full of food. "Kill me." I murmured. He just chuckled and went on with his routine.

It was finally 10 minutes until closing and I was more then happy. I literally ran to the tables and plopped the plates on them, giving the customers fake smiles before running back to deliver all my other orders. Until I finally slid the last plate in front of a brown-haired and green eyed boy about my age. He winked at me and I simply rolled my eyes.

"Is that all?" I asked raising my eyebrow at him. "Besides your number, yep." He replied with a cheeky grin.

"Well bye then," I retorted, walking away. I could feel his eyes on me and that's when I lost it. Boys did this every second of everyday. They act like their so into you but once you confirm that in fact you have a 3 year old daughter they immediately stop calling you.

I didn't have time for any of this at all whatsoever. So, I turned around and walked over to him. His face lit up and I kept my fake smile plastered on my pink lips. I bent down to his level because he was sitting down and slowly whispered in his ear, "Fuck off," once I stood back up he looked a little shocked, but still very persistent. I then walked away stripping off my apron and tossing it on its rack. I pulled my sweatshirt over my head, my bun becoming messier then usual and waved goodbye to Carter. I'd known him since the 6th grade. He was a 19 year old chef here at Le Madeline. He was like my best friend and Alice's second uncle. "Call me when your ready!" He yelled. I nodded and gave him a thumbs up. He was refering  to our little meeting about Alice.

I looked both ways before I crossed the street walking the short distance to the daycare. I approached the entrance and flung the door open. Mrs. Dixon looked kind of surprised until she saw me. Her expression softened and she gestured for me to come to her. I groaned and walked up to the front desk.

"What happened honey?" She said placing her hand on top of mine. "This bum was checking me out again."

"Was he a cute bum?"

"Reberta! You already know what happens when I tell them about Alice or they find out, they'll just leave." I sighed taking out my bun.

"Well they're idiots, you'll find the right guy sooner or later, and I have something for you when that happens!" She exclaimed, pulling open the desks' drawer with its handle. I raised my eyebrow at her as she rummaged through her junky drawer.

"Here, take whoever you like but I think it should be a guy." She said placing two tickets in front of me. My eyes immediately bugged out when I saw where they were to, it was for the Jingle Ball. Every celebrity would be there, Rihanna, Ed Sheeran, Chris Brown.

"How did you get these?!" I asked picking them up in my hands. They were for December 23, the day before Christmas Eve.

"Radio contest of course." She said sitting back in her brown rolling chair.

She has always loved to enter contests of any kind and she usually would give the prizes to me because she was always 'too old'. But I knew that she just wanted me to get a date.

"Wow. That's insane." I breathed. She exhaled  a laugh and tapped the intercom button. "Alice Ferrara." She said clearly in her robot voice. I chuckled and stuffed the tickets into my sweat pants pockets.

Alice came runnning out with her jacket in hand. I gently put it over her and kissed her forehead. "Have fun?"

"Eh, the usual." She said in her adorable baby voice. I smiled at her and stood back up and waved to Reberta.

"Bye Mrs. Dixon!" Alice squeaked, racing out the door that I was holding open. "Think about it Monee!" she called after me, "Sure seeyah Reberta." I waved and walked out the door. I stepped slowly down the cinder-blocks of steps and sighed to myself. Who would I take? I don't really have any friends. There all off in college and Oliver is all the way in Nevada for his new career as an attorney.

"Let's go get the album mummy!" She squealed drowning me from my thoughts. I grabbed her hand and began to walk down the street to the surrounding stores. It made me think even harder then I already was. It would be great if One Direction were at the Jingle Ball, I could get autographs for Alice.

"We here." She said struggling to pull open the glass door. I gently pushed her back and opened it only for her to run inside like a crazy person. I shook my head and walked in after her. Today was going to be long.

"Hey Lou, you alright." I heard the familiar Irish accent ask, softly knocking. I threw a pillow at the door and cuddled back into my sheets. How do they think I feel? I was just dumped out of the blue. I have no idea what I did or said. She even did it over the phone.

"Come on Louis it's just another bump in the road that is life."

"You sound like Zayn, and it's not funny." I grunted sitting up in my bed. It was silent for a minute then I heard whispers and more whispers and suddenly my door was burst open to Harry, Niall, Liam, and Zayn all running in and jumping on me. I groaned in pain and effortlessly pushed them all on the floor.

"Can't I just be alone for a second!" I hollered at them. They were all tangled on the floor moaning and rolling around.

"Not until you get over her! El was a total ass otherwise, we don't even understand why you never broke it off!" Harry exclaimed sitting up and looking me in the eyes. I didn't want to admit anything but he was absolutely right. She always asked me for things and called them names, but I was to blinded by 'love' to see it. I slowly nodded and ran my fingers through my already messed up quiff.

I don't understand why it's so difficult for someone to find that perfect person that they could spend the rest of their life with. I always thought Elounor was the one.

"Maybe you'll find someone at the Jingle Ball? OR before that." Liam said and Zayn immediately nodded and smiled at me. I moaned and clobbered my face with a pillow falling back into my bed.

"Think about it Lou." Niall said placing his hand on my shoulder.
