Maddie Lynn is a heartbreaker to say the least. Her dark brunette hair and huge, blue puppy-dog eyes could make anyone love her, girls included. She didn’t pride herself in her looks though, but rather in her kind personality, not believing that she had the looks of what everyone described.
Maddie is humble and prefers to give than to get. She is constantly donating her money to good causes, rather than diamonds and shoes.
She and Liam James Payne were always giving together until the X Factor came and he was soon put into a band which escalated in popularity to become the biggest boy band in the world. She broke up with him before the audition. But that seemed to be her biggest mistake.
Two years later, after Liam had been dating a girl for that long, Liam announces his wedding date to Fiona Lenni and invites Maddie. After being hung up on Liam for two years, Maddie is at a loss for what to do.
Trouble arisesand Maddie finds herself interrupting a wedding…

1. Prologue

"One more time, people!" Kate, our director, instructed and the first people on stage took their places.

Screaming Petunias would be on in just ten days and it had to be PERFECT. It's only on for a week and all proceeds go to building a library in the less wealthy side of Wolverhampton. Screaming Petunias is a show to raise awareness of social injustice and the absurdity of life. Kate wrote it herself and it's VERY good. The full cast is split into Cast One and Cast Two, each equally as important as the other. Cast One is made up of an old lady, her three neighbours and her husband, who is the one who tries to alert people of how stupid the woman's conversation topics are compared to real problems in the world. Cast Two, which I am apart of, contains a lot of different people, even if there're few actors, and sometimes the actors act as furniture. I am The Little Girl. A rather big part that I was given for my skill... and the fact that I'm the shortest.

After the first scene was done, the set quickly changed to a black stage with one spotlight so that the "Mother", "table" and "rapist" are unseen. I walked into the spotlight and did my monologue perfectly before the lights went up and I walked over to the "table" and my "mum" and the "rapist", who pays my school fees. After we ran through it completely, we had notes. Nothing for me, luckily.

As I slipped on my pumps and put my "I Love South Africa" bag over my shoulder, I heard the other girls in the cast in the other dressing room. They were talking about me.

"Maddie's too perfect," Kelly said.

"I know," Penny agreed, "She has to have one flaw, I mean, come on."

"I bet she had plastic surgery or something," Trina commented.

I rolled my eyes and tidied my dressing room before walking down stairs and said good-bye to Kate and everyone else. I was polite like that. I walked to my car and slowly drove home, taking my time because I had nothing to really do. I contemplated calling Liam today, but after rehearsal I got in this mood when I want to share my secrets, so I may just burst and tell him that I still love him.

I love him so much that since the X Factor, I've only had one boyfriend, although I had a million offers. I broke up with that boy because he was no Liam James Payne and that's all I could think about. I needed Liam James Payne, but I can't exactly go up to him and say "Hey I love you, break up with your hot celebrity girlfriend for me", can I? No, no I can't.

I finally arrived home and quickly unlocked the front door. I let the warmth of the house envelope me and smiled. The scent of chocolate chip cookies hanging in the air made my smile drop and I sighed. My mum only ever made my favourite peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies when she had bad news. Last time it was because Misty, my old grey cat, had died and I cried for a long time after finding out. My dad had given me Misty and I really miss my dad.

I walked into the kitchen and my mum smiled at me with fake cheery-ness, a tray being removed from the oven. The smell of the cookies grew stronger and I breathed in deeply, grabbing one from the plate of already cool ones.

"What's happened this time, mommy?" I asked her politely.

She set down the tray without a word and handed me a ugly shaded beige envelope with an ugly floral pattern on all the corners. It was addressed to me in a fancy cursive font and my brow furrowed. I opened it carefully and slid out the expensive stationary inside. It was thick and heavy-ish.

"Money from this could have gone into a good cause," I thought to myself immediately and turned it over. In a curvy font, lay the words that tore my world in two. On the 31st of July, Liam James Payne would be getting married to Fiona Isabella Lenni.
