My life has been filled with promises, promises that couldn't be kept.
Being abused caused me to stay mute..
But can he change that?

17. Is it time yet?

Life was supposed to be fun and adventurous. Not a hell on earth. I walked around my room. My hand was still numb from all the glass.  But I felt relieved and calm after. No pain just relief. As I sat down on the bed I remembered what the lads had told me. That they wouldn't let that man get me. It's not like they didn't try. They did and I appreciated everything they did for me. The laughs, the fun times, and most of all the memories. Everything was just beginning to turn around. Happiness was entering my life. But he ruins everything. There was a knock on the door. I lifted myself on the bed and put my knees under my chin. I had wrapped my hand in toliet paper. I nodded knowing no one could see me. But the knock wasn't from the door it came from the window. I got up and walked to the window. My heart started to flutter. The lads. They came for me. I smiled and showed my face to the window. My smile faded and I looked down at Brent. He motioned for me to open the window. I opened it with my free hand. I nodded and he nodded back.

"Listen Jailene!" He said as He wiped sweat off his forehead. I stared at him blankly.

"You know those boys you lived with?" I nodded again grinding my teeth.

"Well I went over there to look for you and the door was open. I know I shouldn't have entered but I did. They were talking about how good it felt to have you gone. They aren't who you think they are. I ran out of the house as fast as I could." My eyes widened. I could feel my heart ache. Glad that I was gone? They. They lied to me? It felt like as if the only hope I had came crashing down with just a couple of words. I loved them. I trusted them! In anger I closed the window. I slide down the side of the wall. The tears that were flowing out were going to be my last ones. The only people I cared about and thought they cared for me betrayed me. It's official. My life was no longer worth living.

Niall's POV

I paced the floor as we all talked about our plan. Saving Jai wasn't going to be a walk in the park. That man smelled strongly of alcohol. The way Jai looked at him with fear.

"I still can't believe Brent didn't tell us anything else." Louis said sighing heavlily. That angered me. Liam sat down next to Louis.

"It wasn't his place to tell us what happened to Jai's mother. Maybe he doesn't know who killed her. All they know is that she was murdered." He said putting a hand though his hair.

"True. But still. How are we supposed to get Jai?" Zayn asked as he looked at me then at Liam.

"I don't know yet. But we just can't go on her doorstep and take her. If we do that sh-" Liam said before I interrupted.

"She'll get hurt. And it'll be all our faults." They looked at the ground. This was going to be difficult. I sighed. I kept remembering her smile. And how many times she tried talking. She was scared. 3 years is a lot. As I rememered all the fun times it hit me.

"Lads." I said. "Remember when we promised Jai we wouldn't let him get her?" I asked. They nodded.

"I'm not giving up. I promised her. We all promised her." I clentched my fists.

"Aye. It's gonna be alright mate." Liam said embracing me tightly. Soon the rest of the lads joined in. How did they know that it was gonna be alright?
