128. Graduation

Brooke's POV

Lots of time later. Like lots. It's May. And the last chappie was August. Of the last year.:P

I stare at my alarm clock, waiting for the alarm to sound, alerting me that it is 9 o'clock, and time for me to wake up. Haha. I didn't sleep a wink last night. I paced around mine and Liam's flat, thinking about everything. Like how this time last year, we weren't together. And now, we are getting married in a month. But aside from that, I'm graduating college today. As valedictorian of my class. Pretty stressful as I do say so myself. Liam couldn't be any prouder. It's a huge deal to him and the boys. Sarah, Cheradyn, and Morgan, along with my parents, came out, just for my graduation. And then they are going to stay for 3 weeks afterward. Why? BECAUSE THE WEDDING IS THEN. Yeah, it's been a busy month. The alarm clock goes off and I hurry to shut it off so Liam can sleep a while longer. I made plans with Molly and a few of my college friends to go out and get our nails and hair done for tonight. I get dressed and brush my teeth and brush out my hair. 9:30. As I grab my purse off the kitchen counter, Liam walks out, his sweatpants sagging on his hips, his chest bare. “You about to go?” He asks me, grabbing a banana out of the bowl. I nod, placing my purse around my body. “Were you going to wake me?” Liam asks me. “Well, no. You need to sleep.” I say, crossing my arms. “Babe, like I need it more than you. You didn't sleep at all last night. I woke up a few times and saw you in the living room.” He says. “Yeah, and now I have bags under my eyes, so what?” I say, sticking my tongue out at him playfully. “You are a dork.” He says, rolling his eyes. “Yeah, well I'm a dork who needs to go!” I give him a quick hug and a peck on the lips. “Bye, Li!” I walk out the door and to my car.

“Guys, this color is awesome!” Molly says, pulling a light blue color off of the shelf in the nail salon. “Yeah, and your dress is red, so no!” Our friend Martha responds. “Whatever.” Molly puts the blue back and pulls a black down. She holds it up and her face asks us yes or no. Martha, our 2 other friends, Katie and Hannah, and myself nod. All 5 of us have a color in our hands. I chose a light purple that will go great with my black and purple dress. We all are now sitting in the chairs, talking while we get our toenails painted. “So, Brooke, only a few more weeks right?” Hannah asks me, her English accent contrasting greatly with my Texas one. “Yeah.” I say, a small smile making its way unto my lips. “Are you nervous?” Katie says. Molly responds before I do. “Of course she's nervous! She's getting married at the whopping age of 22!” Ever since Molly found out about the engagement, she hasn't been very happy. “Molly, c'mon. I love Liam and he loves me. We will always love each other, but getting married now has a different kind of love. And remember, you are one of the bridesmaids, so I suggest you shut it.” I say, sending her a sarcastic smile. “Well, isn't someone Miss Attitude today? Now, how did someone so mean get chosen as valedictorian?” Hannah asks. “Well, considering the fact that I'm only this way around my stupid friends, that would be you guys, everyone thinks I'm really nice. I've even got Liam fooled.” I say, grinning from ear to ear. “Whatever. Back to the wedding. Where are you two going on the honeymoon?” Martha asks, her face getting serious. “I don't know. Liam is keeping it a surprise.” I say, crossing my arms. “But you hate surprises.” Katie says, her eyes narrowing, questioning what I just said. “I know.” I mutter. “Well, everyone who knows who you are is super excited for you. Graduating as valedictorian, then getting married to a super famous popstar? That's so great.” Katie says. “I know.” I say, smiling as I realize how lucky I am.

“And that, ladies and gentlemen, is exactly why the graduating class of 2016 is the greatest class to ever graduate from this school.” I state the last sentence of my speech. with confidence and smile brightly. The entire audience stands up and claps for me. I quietly step down, a small smile placed on my lips, proud of my speech. I find my seat by the salutatorian and wait for my name to be called to accept my diploma. As valedictorian, I go last. I fiddle with my black gown over my dress. I look up and easily find my friends and family in the crowd of people. An entire row has been taken up by them. Going down the row, it's Perrie on the end, then Zayn, then Niall, Morgan, Louis, Cheradyn, Sarah, Harry, my beautiful fiance, then my mom, my sister, Paige, then my father on the other end. To have 12 people all here for me makes me very happy. I know that Liam has been staring at me the entire time. I finally make eye contact with him and he looks at me, a proud look on his face. I blush and he smirks. Harry elbows him and makes a face at me. I roll my eyes. Liam reaches down for a second, then pulls out his phone. By the way he holds it, I can easily tell that he is taking a picture of me. I smile and see the flash go off. He shoots me a quick smile and then proceeds to type on his phone. Twitter. As the salutatorian’s name gets called, I brace myself to have to get up. All my people, friends and family, I mean, pull out phones and cameras, knowing I'm next. “Brooke Thorson.” My name gets called and I stand up. This moment, the minute I get my hands on that diploma, is the moment I finish a chapter in life. I get so caught up in thoughts, I lose my walking posture and feel myself wobble in my heels. I don't completely fall, thanks to the person hand out the diplomas but I almost crash into them. Of course I would do that. I'm so fancy and smart, and then I trip while I'm walking to get my diploma. I take the diploma in my hands and turn and face the crowd, giving, first an awkward smile, then a real one. I go back to my seat and the salutatorian sees the redness in my cheeks and tries to assure me that “it wasn't THAT bad”. Whatever. The boys will never let me live it down. I can almost hear Louis laughing at me now. Back to reality. “And now, ladies and gentleman, the graduating class of 2016!” Our cue. Everyone on the stage stands up and takes off their cap. The audience cheers and I feel a small tear slide down my cheek. I hear the row of people there for me screaming at the top of their lungs. Liam looks at me and shoots me a wide smile. College started, check. College completed, check. Next step, getting married.

After the ceremony we are going to dinner. Since I got roped into taking pictures with my friends, I told my group of people that I would meet them at dinner. I park my car and walk in and immediately see them, considering there are 12 of them. "We are so proud of you!!" My mom comes up to me and hugs me tight. She releases me and my dad gives me a kiss on the head. Next is Liam. He comes up to me, picks me up, spins me around, puts me back down, then kisses me. "I am so proud of you, Bo." he says, proceeding to hug me. He wraps his arm around me while Louis, Cheradyn, Niall, Zayn, Sarah, and Harry come up and congratulate me. "You did good." Cheradyn says, hugging me. "Yeah, up until I fell!" I say, sitting down at the head of the table with Liam on one side and my mom on the other. Louis burst into a fit of laughter. "And you were just walking and you fell and it was awesome!" He says, causing everyone to laugh as well. I pout and look at Liam who is letting out a few chuckles. I glare at him and he wipes the smile off his face and sends me a guilty look. Everyone finish laughing and looks at me. "Aren't you just so happy, though? I was and so was Sarah, right, and we weren't even anything special like valedictorian." Cheradyn says, stating how she and Sarah just graduated a few weeks prior. “It's not THAT special.” I say, taking a sip of my drink. That causes a HUGE uproar at the table. “OKAY! OKAY!” I say. “Brooke, that is very special.” My mom says. Everyone nods in agreement. “I guess having all of you guys here makes it better and more special.” I say, looking at everyone. “I propose a toast.” Liam says, raising his glass. “To Brooke and her nerdy, dorky obsession over history.” Everyone raise their glass. “To Brooke.” They chorus. To me.
