~2 weeks later~

Sarah and Cheradyn are going back home tomorrow. I know, I know, it's the shortest Spring Break ever, but it's been a good one. Cheradyn and Sarah have spent a lot of time with Louis and Harry. And they are all bunking together. But they leave tomorrow. But right now, the boys and us 3 girls are hanging out. Like you would imagine, Cheradyn and Louis are all over each other like the little lovey-dovey lovebirds they are. But Sarah and Harry are awkward. I guess 3 months of separation is not good on a relationship. But even so, Cheradyn and Louis skyped every time they could and Sarah and Harry only skyped like twice a week. Sarah is losing that butterflies-in-the-stomach feeling, but Harry looks at Sarah with the look of L-O-V-E. But they still look like a couple. Even now, she is snuggled up against him and he has his arm around her. Like I said, we're all just hanging out in Louis and Harry's apartment (where else would we be?), just talking like always. Somehow, the topic gets to high school. “So, Brooke, you know whenever we were going through your box, we never came upon something from high school.” Liam says. I think for a minute. Journal, Batman cape, 8th grade pictures, and Spring Break pictures. “Nope, I guess not.” I reply. “Well, you should go get something.” Harry says. I get up and head over to Liam's flat and find the box. Photo albums, old papers, medals. I find what I'm looking for at the bottom of the box. I pull out the disc from 10th grade and head back out to Louis and Harry's flat. I hold the disc up for everyone to see. I walk over to the D.V.D player and put the disc in, and return to my seat on the floor next to Liam, right in front of the couch where Sarah and Harry are sitting, without saying a word. The video starts to play. The minute it starts to play, Sarah gasps. “Brooke, this isn't...” She says. I can feel her glaring into the back of my head. I smile. Everyone focuses on the D.V.D.

Everyone is so nervous before the championship game. The basketball players, the fans in the crowd, and the cheerleaders. I glance over at Sarah. She is fully decked out in her cheer gear, face painting, hair bows, the whole 9 yards. I am wearing the same. In fact, all of us cheerleaders are. Except for Cheradyn. But she's the mascot. A huge Trojan head that's almost as big as her torso, with feathers on top. We cheer as the halftime buzzer sounds and the players leave the court. This is the first time in 10 years we made it all the way to the championship game. I decided it was so special I asked Morgan to record it. But just for this game, the cheerleaders came up with a few cheers to perform at halftime. We head out in front of the crowd and get in our positions. One of the older cheerleaders start us off. We perform the cheer. Next, it's my turn. I got chosen to do one of the favorites. I take a deep breath and start the cheer. I finish the cheer proudly and the crowd goes wild. We do a couple more cheers and a dance starring the mascot, aka Cheradyn. Last, but not least, it's Sarah's turn. She always was so nervous, so scared she would mess up. She never has. But the cheer she's doing involves a reply from the crowd. She starts it and much to her surprise she sounds super confident. She finishes and the crowd goes crazy. I find Morgan in the sea of people and she just smiles at me.

(so, basically, the flashback was the video)

I stand back up and take the disc out of the D.V.D. I turn back around and see a grinning Cheradyn, a pouty Sarah, a laughing Liam, Niall, Harry, and Zayn, and a confused Louis. “Wait, where's Cheradyn?” He asks. That just causes me, Sarah, and Cheradyn to crack up laughing. “So, you saw the mascot, right? With the giant head?” I say, trying not to laugh while telling him. “Yeah...” Louis says slowly. “Yeah, that's Cheradyn.” I say, grinning. Cheradyn smiles, remembering the best part of high school. Louis laughs and hugs Cher. “But I can't believe you would show them that awful video of me!” Sarah says. I shake my head. “Why is it an awful video?” Harry says. “I don't, I just, I never loved the sound of my voice on tape.” All of us, including Harry, crack up laughing once again. “Ugh, you guys are so mean!” She says, standing up, frustrated, not understanding the reference. She goes to Harry's room, and slams the door shut. We all stop laughing and Harry looks worried. “Should I go talk to her?” He asks, pointing his thumb in the direction of his room. “Yeah.” Cheradyn and I say at the same time. He gets up and walks to his room.

I slowly knock on the door. “Sarah?” I mumble, already knowing she wouldn't answer me. I open the door and find her on the bed, sitting criss-cross, facing the wall and away from the door. I go in my room and shut the door behind me. “Hey, can you tell me what's wrong?” I say, standing behind her, awkwardly, my hands shoved in my pockets. She doesn't reply. I walk up and climb on the bed and sit right behind her. “Please?” I ask her. She starts to talk, still facing the wall. “I just said something I was insecure about and you all laugh at me. Of course, that's not what it was but that's what it felt like.” I don't understand. I feel like you, the rest of the boys, Brooke, and Cheradyn have jokes that I don't know about because I'm not a 'directioner.' And it just doesn't feel right.” I stumble over thoughts, not being able to find an argument to what she just said because it's true. She is left out. I think back to when I first started liking her. The time we skyped whenever we were helping Brooke study, just after everyone found out I liked her. She sang “Isn't She Lovely”, my audition song. I remember looking around at everyone and seeing their faces try not to burst out my secret. But she never knew. “Sarah, you're right. We have excluded you. But I will make sure I talk to them. And the reason we were laughing is because, well, it was a line from one of our songs and we we thought it was funny because it's a line that I sing. So, it's like fate.” I say, wrapping my arms around her waist. She automatically removes them and stands up. “Fate?” She asks, her voice getting louder. “Well, yeah, since we're a great couple.” I say, realizing that this is going to end horribly. “Hardly! We fought for 6 months, got together because of a DARE, we haven't communicated in 3 months, and you have the nerve to say that this, US, is great?” I stammer for a moment, trying to think of things to say. She stops and looks at me, her eyes full of sadness. “Harry, I think we need to break up.”
