16. Missing - Louis's POV (trying something new)

Louis's POV
I woke up in my bed, my head pounding. Last night was a blast.

I reached over next to me for Bree, to find an empty spot where she should be. I sat up in our bed, panicking. Maybe she already got up, I thought. Maybe she's downstairs eating pancakes with the rest of the boys.

I threw on sweatpants and a t shirt and rushed down the steps. Zayn and Harry looked up at me from the kitchen table.

"What's wrong, mate?" Harry asked, "You look like you've seen a ghost"

"Do you guys remember Bree coming home with us last night? She wasn't in my bed this morning and I thought she was down here but-"

"Whoa, whoa," Zayn interrupted me, "Don't get too worried, lad. She could be in Liam's room like last time."

     "Not funny," I grumbled.

Zayn snickered, "Oh, c'mon. Let's look for her, first. Maybe she's out on the beach or talking to her mom or something."

"Hopefully," I said under my breath.

We searched all through downstairs, up and down the beach, and then upstairs again. When I checked our room once more, I found a card laying on my night stand that I didn't notice before. I picked it up and read it out loud, "Louis, I write to you in the greatest respect. Even after all the things you've done to me, I still respect you. However, I do not forgive you. I took Bree, but you'll never find her or me. I'll keep her safe until you've transferred $10,000 to my bank account. If you want to see her again, do this within five days. Revenge is sweet, my friend. -Diego"

     "F**K!" I screamed, "NO!"

The boys came running in, "What is it?" Liam said, pushing past the others.

"Diego took her! I should've known he wouldn't stop without revenge, that little-"

"Well let's go find her!" Liam protested, "We have to!"

"Do you think it's that easy?" I yelled at Liam, "If it was that easy, I would be on my way to save her right now! Diego probably hid her somewhere that is filled with security and traps. We can't just go unprepared."

Harry chimed in, "I can help. If he has her cell phone, I can figure out where she is."

I breathed out a sigh of relief, "Thank you, Harry. I need all the help I can get. How can you track it, though?"

"I can use this app, if you know her phone number and account password," Harry said, pulling out his phone.

"I don't know her password," I said, sitting down on my bed. 'Where would she be? I didn't even know Diego lived around here."

Zayn said, "I think I know. If he still hangs around the same place that we used to."

"Oh thank God. Zayn, I forgot you were in his gang once. You'd be willing to risk your life, though? I know Diego's not very found of you," I replied hopefully.

"Bree is more important to me than some stupid gang, Louis. We all care about her," Zayn said, walking over to me. He put his hand on my shoulder and squeezed. "The girls would be happy to help," he added on.

I tried a smile. "Okay, Zayn. Take us there."

All of us rushed down to the garage and hopped into cars. We sped down the road with Zayn in the lead. We flew through the town, skidding around turns and flying through red lights. We drove around until we arrived at a little bar on the corner of York Street. The place almost looked like it wasn't in business anymore. The "O" flickered by itself on the Open sign. Some of the windows were boarded up, others broken. You could smell the booze just standing there on the street.

"This is it?" I asked, thinking about Bree being trapped in there, all alone. Or worse, with Diego. I shuddered.

"This is it," Zayn confirmed. "We used to come here at least twice a week. It looks like crap, I know, but that's just to keep people away. The inside is actually pretty nice..." Zayn trailed off, lost in thought.

Liam opened his car door and reached inside. He pulled out hats and sunglasses for everyone so we wouldn't be recognized by Diego's guards. I felt stupid going inside with sunglasses, but I guess that's what people do.

We walked through the doors to find ourselves in a small gray room. A large, muscular black man, with sunglasses, stood in front of a metal door. I could hear the bass pounding from inside. Different colored lights flashed through the bottom of the door.

Zayn stepped up to the man. "Hello, we're here to see Diego," he said calmly.

In one quick movement, the man grabbed Zayn by the neck and lifted him off the ground. I heard the girls gasp from behind me. I stepped forward and was slapped to the left with the guard's spare hand. I hit the wall, my head spinning. I couldn't see and I felt like the room was spinning at high speed. One of the girls, I couldn't tell who, came over to me and knelt down. I heard a gun shot somewhere behind me. She whispered, "Louis, please, stay awake. Don't go to sleep. Keep your eyes open. We're gonna get Bree back..."

My eyes fluttered shut as I fell into what felt like an enteral sleep.
