18. Dance Routine

Danielle's Point of View

"4,5,6," I whispered to myself, trying to memorize the steps to a new dance routine. I glided to the right, and bumped right into the coffee table. Ouch. I held the part of my leg which got hurt and hopped over towards the couch, where I rolled up my comfy pants to inspect the damage. A bruise was starting to form. Ouch... I winced. Really, a bag of frozen beans would be ideal but... I made a funny face at the thought of hopping over to the freezer. No, I'd spare my neighbours the sound. I lived in an apartment, so there were people all around me. I lived at the top thuogh, which was nice. In the morning I would run up and down the stairs to grab my mail. It was one of my ways to staying in shape.

My leg throbbed. The idea of going back to my dance routine didn't appeal at all, so I picked up my phone. I smiled. Saved by a text, I saw. Amber had sent me a text asking if I wanted to stay the night at her house. What kind of question was that? I loved her house! Quickly I said yes and went to my room to pack my bag, completely forgetting about my leg. It's amazing what friends can do to your hurts sometimes...

I put my car into park, took the keys out of the ignition, grabbed my bag and hopped out of the car. I was at Amber's house. She said that she had invited all the boys too, so they would be coming from the airport later tonight. El was working, so she would drive in a bit later, and Perrie was away doing stuff with her band.

I walked into the house, without knocking. I practiclly lived here, and we were basically sisters. When I walked in I saw the wood fire going and smiled in appreciation. It was cozy.

"Amber, I'm here!" My voice eerily echoed throughout the house. Since it was soo open, everything did seem to echo with no one else in the room, but it did always send chills down my spine. "Hello?!" I walked into the living space and threw my bag down on a nearby chair. "Amber?!" Caustiously I walked up to the stairs and called again. Where was she?

"Sorry, Dani! I'm here!" Amber finally called back. "Just doing the laundry." She came from the back part of the house. "I didn't hear you, sorry again."

"It's fine." I hugged her, and she hugged me back.

"So... where's Dave? I still have to meet this boy," I quickly realized.

"I made him do some work outside," Amber laughed. "Well... he offered to chop some of the wood, so that's what he's doing now. Want to go and say hello?"
