5. Stay By My Side

A few days had passed and Jennifer's side had healed up nicely, but her leg was still damaged. Over the days that passed her father Ben would go out hunting for food every night, while Jake remained at her side, never leaving. They had become quite acquainted over the days, and as a cold night set in, Jake cuddled up with Jennifer to keep her warm. They became good friends, and got on really well together, and Jake insisted he wouldn't leave until Jennifer had fully recovered. Ben was happy having Jake around to look after Jennifer while he went out hunting. He was like a trustworthy babysitter. Even though Jake insisted he'd not leave until her full recovery, Jennifer would always reply with "your not leaving at all if I can help it".

A whole week had passed and Jennifer was finally getting out of bed, bored of lying around all the time. The only good thing about lazing about all day was having Jake at her side for company. They got on very well by now, and Jake was now sticking to her side like glue, helping her to stay upright, by letting her lean against him. He helped her limp around the den, and eventually outside for her first bit of fresh air since she got the injuries a week ago. He helped her to lay in the sunshine, as they sat a while enjoying each others company all the while. Jake would help her up to her feet whenever she wanted to go back inside, and would lay with her for warmth every single night. A few more weeks passed, and Jake helped Jennifer rehabilitate herself, as she finally started to put pressure on her back right leg. It took a few days, but with Jake's help, Jennifer was finally able to walk on her back right leg again.
