9. Chapter 9

(Stella’s POV)

I continued to wash the dishes, getting angrier with every minute that passed. I have never been more embarrassed in my life. Not only was I publicly humiliated, it was done by a member of the biggest boy band in the world.

“Hey Stella, there’s a customer out front asking for you,” George said from the doorway.

“Thanks George, I’ll be right out.”

I dried off my hands and put my apron back on as I walked out of the door. When I looked up and saw Harry staring at me from behind the counter I stopped walking.

“What are you doing here?” I asked coldly.

“Well after I received your lovely text, I think I should be the one asking questions.”

I couldn’t help but laugh at how angry he was. As if he had the right to be upset in this situation.

“Whatever Harry. I’m honestly surprised that you risked your reputation and showed up to where I work.”

“What are you even talking about?”

I could see the look of confusion on Harry’s face but that didn’t stop me from saying more. “I’m talking about how horribly embarrassing it must be for you to be seen with me in public since you’re THE Harry Styles and I’m just a regular girl…who…who will never amount to anything!”

The silence between us was deafening. I stared at the counter too afraid to look Harry in the face after my little outburst.

“Is..that really how you feel?” I heard him say.

All I could do was nod my head.

“Stella, you’re not just a regular girl to me. I don’t know where you got this idea from but it’s far from the truth.”

“I heard you on the radio. I could hear how angry you were that our photograph got in the newspaper.”

“I was angry that you were brought into the spotlight because our fans can get a bit harsh towards people in our lives. That’s all.”

“Harry, I just don’t know if I can do this. I don’t think it’s a good idea for us to go get dinner.”

“I’m serious. I think it’s best if you leave.”

I finally looked up at him and could see the hurt in his eyes. Harry turned around and started to walk for the door but then suddenly stopped and spun around to face me.

“Mark my words Stella, I’m going to prove to you that you’re worth it.” And with that Harry walked out the door.
