Stella, a girl who works two jobs while living life in Chicago is taken for a big surprise when Harry Styles suddenly becomes interested in her. She constantly tries to turn him away but he won't give up. The question remains, can hate stop fate?

5. Chapter 5

(Stella’s POV)

I continued to pour drinks for people at the bar while I thought about what happened while I was upstairs. I had to give credit to Harry that he wasn’t giving up on me. It’s not like I was used to being pursued by guys so it was definitely a different feeling. I looked up to see my boss walking towards me with a big grin on his face.

“What’s up boss?”

“Here’s what’s up: this guy representing that boy band upstairs just told me that they would pay double what they owe for their bar tab if you would would hang out with them after your shift. So…looks like you’re hanging out with them after your shift Stell!”

“Wh-what?! No! That’s unfair, I don’t want to!”

“Money speaks for itself and if you want to keep your job, you’ll do exactly what I just told you.”

“Fine.” I walked away from him before I said something that would make me lose my job for good. I looked up at the clock and saw that I had one hour till I had to go upstairs to spend some “quality” time with Harry and the boys. Yay.

(Harry’s POV)

One hour. I decided that I would hold off on drinking until then so that I could actually have a somewhat sober conversation with Stella. I already knew that this was going to be a slow hour for me so I settled down in a chair to wait. The boys were getting pretty crazy and had already broken a few bottles on the floor.

(Stella’s POV)

“Uh, Stella? Look at the clock, get on up there!”

My attempt at just pretending to forget that I had to go upstairs obviously did not trick my boss. I blew out the breath I had been holding and clocked out before heading to the stairs. As I climbed them I told myself that I would hang out with them until 2 am exactly and then leave to go back home so I could get a few hours of sleep before having to open up the coffee shop at 6am the next morning.

“Hey Stella Bella, wanna get drunk?!” Louis screamed from across the room.

“Thanks for the nickname,” I said with a smile.

“Anything for the girl that enjoys making fun of Harry as much as I do.”

I scanned the room and noticed Harry walking over to me with 2 drinks in his hands.

“Here you go.”

“Thank you.”

We both let a few awkward moments pass before Harry spoke up.

“So…you work two jobs?”

I took a sip of my drink before responding. “I do. I work at the coffee shop 5 days a week and then the bar 4 days. Gotta pay my rent and utilities somehow.”

“That’s respectable Stella, I admire you for that.”

I couldn’t help the blush the crept across my face. Not many people realized how tired I always was from working as much I did so it felt nice to be appreciated.

“Uh..thank you. You done with your drink? I can get you another one.”

“Don’t be silly. I’ll go get us some, be right back.”

The second Harry stepped away, Niall took his spot.

“When are you going to give in to Harry?” Niall said while looking directly into my eyes.

“I’m not going to “give in” to anyone. I’m here because I have to be so I’m just going to enjoy my free drinks and then leave.”

“Okay,” he said with a wink.

Harry was back before I knew it and then the boys all surrounded us and mentioned that we should play some drinking games. For the next 45 minutes I continued to drink and whether or not I wanted to admit it to myself, I was having fun. After finishing my third drink, I swayed a little and grabbed onto Harry’s for stability.

“Whoa there, babe. You okay?”

“I can handle my liquor just fine, thank you very much,” I said while giggling. What was it about alcohol that made me laugh constantly?

A smile played across his lips as he nodded his head in agreement with what I said.

“Yes, that’s why you just grabbed onto my arm.”

“Don’t act like you didn’t like it.”

Harry laughed before responding, “You’re right, I did. Now that you know that I’m at least good for something, will you give me your number now?”

“Of course not silly, I’m only yours for 15 more minutes.”

Before I knew what was happening Harry closed the distance between us within a second and was towering over me. Our bodies were almost touching and I could feel his breath on me. My heart started speeding up and the smile on my face disappeared. The air felt different between us and all of the sudden I couldn’t remember why I kept denying him. Harry continued to look down at me before he leaned down and whispered in my ear, ” Stella, I’m not going to ask you again. Give me your number so that I can see you again.”

“…okay?” I couldn’t seem to make my heart calm down.

Harry took out his phone and handed it to me and with shaking hands I entered my number into his phone. A look of accomplishment was apparent on Harry’s face as I handed his phone back to him.He took a step back and I could finally breathe normally again. What was happening to me?
