Can Hate Stop Fate?

Stella, a girl who works two jobs while living life in Chicago is taken for a big surprise when Harry Styles suddenly becomes interested in her. She constantly tries to turn him away but he won't give up. The question remains, can hate stop fate?

3. Chapter 3

(Stella’s POV)

“10 minutes till closing!”

I continued to clean the machines as the store emptied out. I still couldn’t get over how cocky Harry had been earlier, like he just expected me to fall to his feet because he was in a boy band. A giggle escaped my mouth as I remembered how Harry’ face looked when he got denied by me.

“Bye George, I’m off to my second job!”, I yelled to my boss as I took off my Starbucks apron. Working two jobs wasn’t always the ideal situation, but it paid for my apartment rent and if I was being honest with myself, I really did enjoy my second job.

“See ya tomorrow Stella!”

I got into my car and quickly changed into a low cut shirt and let down my hair. As much as I hated wearing revealing clothes, it made getting tips at the bar I worked at a whole lot easier. I flipped down my car mirror and applied some eye makeup and gloss, then decided I was good to go and backed out of my spot.

I was a block away from the bar when I realized that traffic was backed up and that I was going to be late to my work shift if I didn’t just give up on getting a close parking spot. I quickly veered off into a parking lot and ran the block to work. As I got to the front door I noticed tons of flashing lights going off, but I wasn’t sure why. I figured it would just be best to ignore that situation and go in through the back door.

“Stella! You’re three minutes late! I don’t pay you to make your own schedule,” my boss said to me from behind the bar.

“Yeah, yeah, I know. There was a ridiculous crowd out front for some reason,” I said as I walked behind the counter.

“Yeah, we have some big shots here tonight. Heads up, you’re in charge of cleaning the VIP room after they leave.”

“What? No! They always leave huge messes up there!”

“Well honey, when you run your own bar you can put someone else in charge of cleaning the private rooms. Until that day though, it’s your job.”

I sighed to myself admitting defeat. The worst thing about cleaning those rooms is that famous people always seemed to forget that we were the ones left cleaning up the mess after they were finished destroying our rooms.

“Yo, can I have a beer down here?”, I snapped out of my daze and got out a glass as I asked “Miller or Bud?”

(Harry’s POV)

“Shots! Shots! Shots!”, Niall screamed as he danced around our lounge at the bar we were at for the night. I couldn’t help but laugh as Niall drunkenly danced with his arms in the air.

“Lads, I have something to say!”, Louis yelled as he stood up on a chair wobbling slightly. I noticed out of the corner of my eye Paul sneaking up behind Louis in case he fell out of his chair. I’m pretty sure Louis thought he was immune to the effects of tequila… which he most definitely wasn’t.

“Harry, pay attention to me for a second and stop thinking about the girl that denied you !”. A blush swept across my face as the boys all started laughing with Louis.

“Shut up, Lou” was the only thing I could think of before Louis started back up with his speech.

“Anyways, as I was saying I just wanted to say that these past two years with you boys have been the best two years of my life. I can’t wait for our tour to start in two weeks. To us and to all the pranks that will happen on tour!”

“Cheers!” I said along with Liam, Niall, and Zayn. The rest of our friends all said their cheers too as most of the people in the room worked for us and would also be coming along on tour with us. I walked over to the the ledge and leaned on the rail that overlooked the rest of the bar. Niall tapped my shoulder and handed me a shot of tequila. As I poured the glass of liquid down my throat, I scanned the crowd below me and noticed Stella immediately.

“Harry? Harry!” Liam said as he slapped my back while I coughed up the tequila that went down the wrong side of my throat when I saw Stella.

“I’m fine, I’m fine.”

“Harry, shut up. What did you see?” Louis said as he walked over to me.

“Louis, drop it.”

“Harry, tell me or…or…I’LL JUMP OFF THIS LEDGE INTO THE CROWD!” Louis yelled dramatically. Typical, of course Louis would cause a scene over this.

“Alright, I’ll tell ya if you’ll stop being so ridiculous. I saw Stella.”

“Now did ya?! Let’s get to know the girl that doesn’t like British accents, shall we?”

Before I could stop him, Louis leaned over the edge and yelled at the top of his lungs “Stella babe! Up here! Can you bring me a round of shots?”

I watched as she scanned the people next to Louis with her eyes finally landing on mine. My heart skipped a beat as she stared at me for a second before nodding her head in agreement about getting the shots.

“This’ll be interesting, won’t it?” Louis said while laughing.

I quickly sat down and put my head in my hands. A girl has never kept my attention for more than a couple of days, and already this girl Stella is more interesting than any of those other girls. What is going on?
