Can Hate Stop Fate?

Stella, a girl who works two jobs while living life in Chicago is taken for a big surprise when Harry Styles suddenly becomes interested in her. She constantly tries to turn him away but he won't give up. The question remains, can hate stop fate?

24. Chapter 24

(Harry’s POV)

“I don’t want to start any problems man,” I said to James.

“I think it’s a little too late for that,” he said at the same time that he shoved me.

I stumbled backwards a few feet.

“You too much of a baby to fight back?” James started laughing and I was doing all I could not to fight back. I didn’t want my fighting to affect Stella again like it had last time.

“Hey, I said I don’t want a probl-“, before I could even finish my sentence, James got a punch in on my left cheek.

All my thoughts about not fighting were immediately forgotten as my right fist swung towards Jame’s face.

(Stella’s POV)

I opened my eyes slowly as I heard my phone ringing across the room. I looked at the clock and saw that it was 11:30 pm. I had fallen asleep in the living room when I had got home from the walk a couple of hours earlier, too tired to even make it to the bedroom.

I walked across the room and saw Harry’s name flash across the screen. I answered right away.

“Hi,” Harry said awkwardly.

“Is everything okay, you sound weird?”

“Uh, I think you may need to come down to the hospital.”

“Oh my gosh! Are you okay? Did you get hurt? What happened?!”

“I’m fine actually. It’s, erm…James.”

“Why are you down at the hospital with James?” My heart suddenly stopped. I knew something had happened between the two of them. “I’m on my way.”

(Harry’s POV)

I hung up with Stella and looked back up at the boys who were all standing by my chair. After Paul showed up with some cops, I had to be taken down to the hospital to be checked for a concussion but otherwise I was fine. James’ however didn’t have much choice in the matter. I knew for sure that I broke his nose but was unsure of what other damage I had done. I wasn’t proud of it but at the same time, I definitely didn’t regret it.

“I’ll take it that Stella is coming down?” Liam asked.

“Yeah, she didn’t sound happy.”

“Oh, it’ll be alright.” Louis said as he sat in the chair next to me.

“Can someone just tell me why my relationship with Stella is so dramatic?” I asked nobody in particular.

“Ah mate, it’s because of your hair. BLAME THE HAIR. I’ve told you, you should pull a ‘Liam’ and shave it all off and that will bring you good luck!” I smiled knowing Louis was trying to lighten the mood. Louis looked more relaxed as all the boys started to make fun of me and the atmosphere wasn’t so serious.

I glanced over just in time to see Stella walk through the door. She scanned the lobby with her eyes and then ran over once she spotted me.

“Oh my gosh, you have a black eye!”

“It’s nothing,” I said but I could see the doubt in Stella’s eyes. “Honestly, I’m fine.”

Stella took a step closer so she could get a better view and asked me if I broke anything. Louis actually laughed out loud at that question and Stella glared in his direction.

“What? It shouldn’t be Harry that you’re worried about…” Louis trailed off, realizing he had already said more than he should have.

Stella turned back to me, eyes wide.

“You,” she said pointing at me,” stay here and don’t move. I’m checking on James and then we need to talk.”

I watched as Stella quickly walked over to the counter so she could be pointed in the direction of James’ room.

“Ohhhhh, somebody’s in trouble!” Louis said sarcastically.

“Shut up. She’s gonna see what I did to James’ and never want to talk to me again.” All the boys stared at me, not quite believing that I had just told Louis to shut up and was actually serious.

“Hey mate,” Louis walked back over to me and put an arm around my shoulder, “you know I’m just kidding around. We’ll go wait in the van for you so you can talk to Stella alone, okay?”

“Yeah, and sorry for telling you to shut up Lou.” I mumbled, knowing my outburst had been unnecessary.

“It’s fine Haz, just don’t expect to be immune from a prank or two this week now,” Louis said as he walked off but he smiled at me to show me I was forgiven.

At least Louis forgave me, because I didn’t have much hope for Stella to do the same.
