Can Hate Stop Fate?

Stella, a girl who works two jobs while living life in Chicago is taken for a big surprise when Harry Styles suddenly becomes interested in her. She constantly tries to turn him away but he won't give up. The question remains, can hate stop fate?

16. Chapter 16

(Stella’s POV)

I watched in shock as Harry punched the guy I had just been dancing with. He grabbed my hand and just like that we were leaving the bar. I knew my thoughts should probably go to wondering how the guy that Harry just punched was doing but instead all I could think about was how hot Harry looked defending me. Granted, he probably didn’t need to punch the guy but alcohol did funny things to people.

Harry sat down in a seat and pulled me down to sit on his lap. I squeezed his hand for reassurance so he knew I wasn’t mad at him for anything and I could feel him physically relax. He leaned up into my ear and whispered, “You’re not mad, are you?”

I turned around so I was face to face with him and shook my head no. He allowed himself a small smile before he turned to Liam in the seat next to us.

“How much do you think they got on camera?”

“If I’m being honest here, probably all of it, ” Liam said, sounding sad for Harry.

Harry sighed to himself and leaned his head back on the seat and closed his eyes.

“Hey look at me.” I said to Harry as I put my hands around his face. He slowly opened his eyes. “What you did in there probably wasn’t the best for your image but people will get past it. Who knows, maybe even the paps will choose not to publish those photos.” I knew that was unlikely but I was just trying my best to make Harry feel better.

“Plus,” I said as I leaned in close to his right ear so only Harry could hear me, “that was the hottest thing a guy has ever done for me.” I quickly kissed his cheek and then put my head on his shoulder.

(Harry’s POV)

My mind was still reeling from punching that guy but Stella was slowly making me calm down. I’m not sure what it was about her that made me relax but I’m glad that she had that effect on me. Our van pulled up to the hotel and a few minutes later we were back in my room.

It hit me once I was back in my room how tired I was from the days excitement of Stella agreeing to give me another chance and the nights drama. I sat down on the edge of my bed not quite sure whether or not I should ask Stella to stay the night. My intent was innocent in that I only wanted her to stay the night to keep me company but I didn’t want her to think it was so that I could use her and then forget about her.

“Uh Harry?” I heard Stella speak up and realized I had been sitting on my bed for a couple minutes without saying anything. She started to talk again.

“I don’t want you to think that, uh, I’m like, gonna do anything tonight, um, but…” Stella was having a difficult time speaking and she seemed really nervous. “I can, um, stay the night if you want me to?”

“Yes!” She looked surprised by my eagerness.”Well, I mean, that would be great.”

I grabbed her hand and pulled her on the bed with me. We leaned our heads back on the pillows and I grabbed the blanket from the end of the bed to put over us.

“Hey Stella, thanks for not being mad at me tonight.”

“Of course not, babe. It was just a misunderstanding.”

“Yeah, a misunderstanding that will make every gossip magazine.”

“Let’s not worry about that right now. Let’s just enjoy the moment we have.”

I turned off the bedside table light and then leaned back to  put my arm around her stomach. I then softly kissed the back of her head and within minutes we were both dozing off, trying to forget about everything that had just happened.
