1. Chapter 1

Stella’s POV)

“Hi, welcome to Starbucks, what can I get you today?” I said happily to the next customer in line as I grabbed a nearby pen to write down the order. Working at a coffee shop was great. You were constantly surrounded by people and I had the pleasure of beginning lots of new friendships with those customers who stopped by religiously every morning on their way to work.

“Uh, yeah, can I have a venti coffee. quickly .”

I looked up to see a boy with curly brown hair wearing raybans standing next to a bigger man who was constantly looking around the shop. Guess he thinks he’s too cool to take off his sunglasses inside. Plus, what’s with his rush? And not even saying please? I already didn’t like him. The boy did look really familiar though. Where have I seen him before? That’s right! On my break earlier I had read a magazine about the new british boyband “taking over the world”. That must be his security next to him then. Interesting.

“Yes sir, I’ll quickly get your coffee so you can quickly get out of here,” I said, making sure to emphasize the word ‘quickly’ so he knew i was annoyed.

I saw the corners of the boy’s mouth turn up like he thought my response was funny. I guess he’s not used to girls being rude to him. I turned around to grab the cup and decided to fill it up with decaf coffee instead of regular since that was really the only thing I could do in a coffee shop to get back at a rude customer.

“Here you go, hope this keeps you awake all day!” I said, while handing him his hot cup of decaf coffee. I couldn’t help but grin as I handed him the coffee. I saw the security guy standing next to him laughing quietly to himself and then he winked at me. Huh, guess the big guy didn’t care that I just messed up the famous star’s order on purpose. I smiled and then reached over for another cup of coffee to hand to him.

“Here you go sir, this one’s on the house.”

The british boy looked back and forth between the two of us before speaking, “Is there something I’m missing here, uh, …” he said while squinting at my nametag.

“The name’s Stella and no there isn’t, uh, …” I imitated, while waiting for him to tell me his name.

“You don’t know my name?”

“No I do, I’m just pretending not to because that’s the cool thing to do these days,” I said sarcastically.

Once again he smiled before responding, “I’m Harry, love. It’s refreshing not to be known actually. Anyways, I gotta go to practice, but can I have you number? I’d love to take you out to dinner.”

I started laughing out loud when he said this. I could see the smile on his face falter but still maintained eye contact with me.

“Harry, as tempting as a british boy may be, I’ll pass on your offer.” I don’t know what it was about Harry, but he annoyed me and I wasn’t about to give him the satisfaction of thinking that he could get any girl he wanted.

Harry narrowed his eyes at me, nodded his head once, and then turned around to walk out of the shop. “C’mon Paul, lets get out of here.”

Paul gave me a quick smile before following Harry outside to where a swarm of Paparazzi had now collected.
