Truly, Madly Deeply

'I hate you Harry Styles...'

2 years after finishing school and being tormented by Harry Styles, Ellie Laker finally gets accepted into a presigious performing arts academy in London. This was everything she had ever wanted, but she knows that it is probably too good to last...

21. Healing

Harry's P.O.V

I don't know what compelled me to say those words. A few weeks ago, I had hated her to the absolutely core of my being. But now, it was all forgotten, and a new feeling had overcome my anger. I loved her. I literally would drop everything to go and help her, to be with her.

A buzzing interuppted my thoughts and I leant over from my position next to the bed to pick up Ellie's phone. The caller id came up as 'Callum.' I stared at the phone for a while before pressing the answer button.

'Hello, Ellie's phone.'

'Who is this? Where's Ellie?' He demanded.

'It's Harry, and why are you even calling?'

He groaned in frustration. 'Of course it's Harry! Look, why can't you just back off? Because of you, Ellie missed our date to try and work things out, but I guess that was your plan all along anyway, wasn't it? Now stop touching her phone and give me to her, I need to talk to her.'

I nearly threw the phone against the wall in anger. My mouth opened and closed, unable to find the words. ' actually have the nerve to say that? Ellie nearly fucking died because of you yesterday. You screaming at her caused a car to nearly drive right over the top of her and crush her. She's in hospital and I've been here the whole time. And where have you been? In a cafe have you? You didn't even care enough to go back to check if she was alright. So don't go yelling at me for trying to sabotage your relationship, I'm just trying to save her life.'

There was silence on the other end of the phone. ' she ok?' Callum stuttered.

'She's stabalizing, but we both would appreciate it if you didn't call again.' And I hung up. I angrily ran a hand through my curls and closed my eyes in frustration.

Ellie's P.O.V

I fluttered my eyes open tiredly, and even though the pain was still there, it was subsiding. The meds were doing their job. The last thing I remembered was falling asleep, not having enough strength to keep awake. I hardly even remember last waking up, but I do remember that Harry was here with me.

'Hey.' I said softly. 'Hey, what's wrong Haz?' He looked angry. His disheveled curls lay untidily across hs forehead, as if he had recently run his hands through them.

'Hey! You're up. How do you feel?' He avoided my question entirely.

I ran my tongue across my lips, in an attempt to try and return some moisture to them. 'I feel ok, better than before. I can't believe you're still here, but you didn't answer my question. What's wrong?'

He sighed. 'Uh, it's just Callum. He didn't even realise that you were in the hospital, or that it was his fault. All he could care about was you not showing up to that bloody cafe and me apparently getting in the way.'

'I thought you said you told him?' I asked.

'Yeah, I did tell him. And I also told him not to call again. you don't need any complications or anything strenous to tire you. You need to focus on getting better.'

I sighed at my own stupidness in dating Callum. He didn't seem to care about me at all. I lifted my hand and placed it on top of Harry's. 'Thankyou for being here.' He looked into my eyes, and grasped my hand tighter.

I heard the handle of the door unlock, and a few nurses stepped into the room. I fiddled with the cord around my nose, it was getting harder to breathe. A nurse came and checked all the machines around me and made a few notes on her clipboard.

'Well you're stabalizing Ms Laker, that is very good news. You're very lucky, it is better to have many minor injuries that just a few major injuries, and all you're injuries are relatively easy to heal. You should be ready to leave in several days. I'll adjust that nose cord for you and you should feel a lot better.'

She looked over at Harry and added, 'You're very lucky Ms Laker to have a man around that cares for you. He's been here ever since you've been brought in, and he hasn't left once.'

I turned my head to look at Harry, who was looking at me with an expression of concern. I smiled. 'I know. Thankyou.' I told the nurses once they had adjusted everything and left the room.

'You're mum was here last night. I've already rung her though and she's very relieved. We all are.' He added. 'I don't think you realise just how worried I was when I thought about the possiblity of you not waking up..' A single, glistening tear fell down his cheek.

'Shh, Harry, it's ok. I'm ok. Did you hear the nurse? I should be ready to leave in several days.' I smiled at him. 'It's ok.'

He took a deep breath. 'I'm being stupid..' He laughed as he wiped his tears away. 'I just can't imagine a life with you El.'

'You're not stupid Haz, you're cute and I was so lucky to have met you back in primary school.'

'Even though I hurt you?' He asked quietly.

'Even though.' I smiled. 'And, maybe I did have a tiny crush on you back then.'

'Maybe you were the girl I was trying to get over.' He smiled.

I braced myself as I put one hand on the railing and pushed myself upwards. I leaned over to Harry and he chuckled as he brought the space between us closer. And our lips fit together. I closed my eyes, but I couldn't hold on for any longer and I fell back on my pillow.

'I can't wait until you are properly healed so I can kiss you for longer than that.' He chuckled.

'Can't wait,' I laughed and I drifted back into sleep.
