20. The Beginning of a New Life

About 8 months later, our house has finally been built and we are finally ready to be married at 19. Harry and I are so excited.
Then on the day of our wedding day, my water broke.
It was 3 in the morning when I woke up Harry.
"Harry, get up!" I said, trying to get my eyes to adjust from the dim lighting in my parent's house. We haven't moved into our newly built house yet, as the furniture hasn't arrived since we've ordered it. I want nothing to remain as a reminder of my parent's home. A month ago, we bought everything we need for the baby.
"What is it, love?" Harry's husky morning voice asked.
We bought diapers, a crib, tons of bibs for either boy or girl since we both decided we want it to be a surprise, and a ton of  onesies for either gender. When the baby's born after a week or two Harry'll run out and buy clothes.
"My water broke!"
He bolts up and throws on some clothes and we drive down to the hospital. My breathing is heavy and I'm somewhat winded from it.
Around 3:17 we arrive and I sit down on a couch to give my feet a rest. It only lasts for 2 or 3 minutes though because the nurses rush over after learning from Harry that my water broke and rush me up to a room. My brain is too fuzzy from being so tired and being pregnant at the same time that I can't notice many details.
They lay me down on a cot. After sometime someone asks, "Would you want the epidural?"
I nod my head as vigorously as I can, which is to say, not a lot. "Harry," I whisper.
"Yes, love?" He says somewhat nervously.
"Call everyone and tell them the wedding's canceled."
"Holy-" Harry says as he runs out of the room.
I smile a bit but immediately stop because I feel a sudden jolt of discomfort as the epidural is inserted into my back, before all the pain is finally reduced to a slight tingling sensation.
Thank you, epidural, I think silently.
An hour, maybe two hours? Pass, or maybe a lot more or a lot less. I'm so tired I could barely stay awake, much less figure out what time it is or what's going on. Finally, I'm ready to push.
"Push!" The doctor says.
I push.
"Push!" The doctor says again.
I push again.
"Push!"
I push.
"Push!"
It goes on like that for hours.
The whole time Harry is right by my side as he holds my hand and comforts me with soothing words and kisses my cheek and smooths my hair, randomly pulling out his phone and texting the lads or people about the wedding or any of the lad's girlfriends about how I was doing.
What seemed like a bajillion gajillion million hours later, Harry yelled, "I SEE THE HEAD!"
I felt relieved. 20 minutes later the doctors rushed the baby to wherever they wash them and stuff. Right now, I'm too tired to care or remember what that "stuff" is.
It was agony, waiting for my little angel to be done and in my arms. I fell asleep and when I woke up, Harry's face was hovering over mine, holding the most sweetest, most adorablest little angel I'd ever seen.
"Wh-what gender?" I could barely get the words out as Harry handed the baby down to me.
"It's a boy," he said, beaming.
"Dustin," I said immediately. "Dustin Andrew Styles."
I'd been thinking on the names for a while and somehow I could just feel it in me that it was a boy. Don't ask me how, but I just knew. I could feel it in my bones. So I decided to look at only boy's names. Boy, that would have been awkward if it was a girl and I was totally wrong.
"That's...perfect," Harry said. "What would you have wanted if it was a girl?"
I shrugged. "I knew he was a boy," I said sleepily. Dustin gazed up at my face and I gently tapped his nose and he made a sound somewhere between a gurgle and a sneeze.
I smiled as his eyes slowly closed and he fell asleep, and a few minutes later I followed.
The next two days I got visits from Lilly and the girls, along with the lads, tons of gifts, and millions of cards from school friends. Finally I left and Harry drove me home.
"Harry," I said. "This isn't my parent's house."
"Well..." Harry mumbled. "The last two days the lads came over when they weren't visiting and helped paint our bedroom and the baby's room baby blue. I bought a lot more paint so you can paint the stork flying over mountains and stuff like we talked about."
I beamed at him. "Seriously?!"
"Yep, and all the furniture in our room along with the crib is set up so whenever you want you can start painting. And you know how the baby room is connected to our room, right?"
I just looked at him.
"Oh wait, you designed the house..." He said slowly. "Uh, well, Liam made a sign that says "Baby's Room" to hang on the door."
I smiled. "Great. Now take Dustin will you? I need to get my bags."
"I'll get em, you just go inside."
Dang, we need to get furniture in here. Or paint, or BOTH. It's so cold, and empty. Not what I had in mind when I designed the house.
You walk through the front door into a pretty wide hallway with two closets. To your right is the stairs, and under the stairs is a little mini closet. The hallway opens up into the kitchen, complete with a big counter and a fridge, oven, a pizza oven, and dishwasher. Nothing more to the right, so you walk into the kitchen and turn left and walk a couple steps into the living room. Between the living room and the kitchen is the bathroom. If you turn to the right, there's a sunroom. Next to it is the dining room, which has huge glass windows instead of walls. If you turn to the left, there's a hallway which leads to the playroom. Along the hallway is the washer and dryer, and at the end before you turn right to go to the playroom there's the door to go to the garage. Upstairs, it's basically all bedrooms. Who cares! Our bedroom has a walk-in closet, a king-sized bed, a desk, a flat-screen tv, a huge bathtub, and the baby room is attached for easy access.
I walk into the baby room and place Dustin in his crib, then go
into my room and lay down on our bed and stare up at the ceiling, which is painted a beautiful shade of peach, I must say.
Suddenly two very bright green orbs appeared over my blue ones.
"Get some sleep," he said before kissing me softly.
"It's only 2," I said. "We should work on the living room."
"But you're tired," he said and pouted.
"Fine. I'll sleep until eight the next morning then we start on the living room, kapeesh?"
"Kapeesh," he said and smiled at me as he got into the bed.
The next morning I woke up to this:

"I'm gonna pick up the pieces
And build a lego house
If things go wrong we can knock it down"

I smiled and got up, picked up the crying baby (who immediately stopped, thank god he slept most of the night, he woke twice and Harry got him) and walked downstairs to see Harry painting the living room.

"My three words have two meanings,
There's one thing on my mind
It's all for you

And it's dark in a cold December, but I've got you to keep me warm
If you're broken I will mend you and I'll keep you sheltered from the storm that's raging on now

I'm out of touch, I'm out of love
I'll pick you up when you're getting down
And out of all these things I've done I think I love you better now
I'm out of sight, I'm out of mind
I'll do it all for you in time
And out of all these things I've done I think I love you better now, now

I'm gonna paint you by numbers
And colour you in
If things go right we can frame it and put you on a wall

And it's so hard to say it but I've been here before
Now I'll surrender up my heart
And swap it for yours

I'm out of touch, I'm out of love
I'll pick you up when you're getting down
And out of all these things I've done I think I love you better now
I'm out of sight, I'm out of mind
I'll do it all for you in time
And out of all these things I've done I think I love you better now

Don't hold me down
I think my braces are breaking, and it's more than I can take

And it's dark in a cold December, but I've got you to keep me warm
If you're broken I will mend you and I'll keep you sheltered from the storm that's raging on now

I'm out of touch, I'm out of love
I'll pick you up when you're getting down
And out of all these things I've done I think I love you better now
I'm out of sight, I'm out of mind
I'll do it all for you in time
And out of all these things I've done I think I love you better now

I'm out of touch, I'm out of love
I'll pick you up when you're getting down

And out of all these things I've done I think I love you better now

I'm out of sight, I'm out of mind
I'll do it all for you in time
And out of all these things I've done I think I love you better now
I'm out of touch, I'm out of love
I'll pick you up when you're getting down
And out of all these things I've done I will love you better now"

"Wow," I breathed.
He quickly ceased singing and turned to look at me. "What?"
"That was...amazing..."
"Not as amazing as you," he said cheekily.
I blushed and muttered, "Shut up." I quickly surveyed the work he had done on the living room. Two walls had already been painted, and he was working on the third one. The paint color was a light, forest-y green. The couches, currently housing in the dining room, were a creamy white and the end tables were a dark brown wood, almost black. The coffee table was glass.
I smiled at Harry.
"You've done an amazing job," I said.
He beamed. "Less work for you, huh?"
Just then the doorbell rang.
The baby in my arms, I walked to the door, finding a path through all the furniture, and open it to find Louis, Liam, Niall, Zayn, Lilly, Eleanor, Perrie, and Danielle standing there in casual clothes.
"Hi!" They all beamed.
"Hi guys! Come to help?" I said.
"What are you doing on your feet?!" Eleanor shrieked. "Go upstairs and lie down!" She barked, making everyone jump.
I still felt exhausted, even after that long night's rest.
Then Dustin started to cry. Oh Lord.
"Here," Lilly said. "You guys help Harry paint while Haley and I go upstairs."
Everyone nodded in agreement and got straight to work.
I love these guys.
