Daydreaming | h.s

Jasmine thought she had a perfect life, with her boyfriend Harold. But things turn sour when he cheats on her, making Jasmine decide to move to London to live with her best friend Tahlia.

One small coffee shop changed her life.

All because someone cared.

Cared enough to ask if she was okay.

5. Chapter 5

Jasmine’s POV:

“Get up! We have to leave!” Tahlia yelled from outside my bedroom door.

“What are you talking about? The concert starts at 5, it’s only 10 in the morning, are you nuts?” I questioned.

“We get to go early because we have backstage passes. We’re going to go meet the boys before the concert, and we’re supposed to be there by 3 if we want to meet them! It’s going to take hours to get ready!”

Tahlia kept rambling on about how excited she was. I had never heard them sing before, so I wasn’t too excited. I had only heard them for a brief moment in the car when Tahlia had picked me up from the airport. I was more nervous about seeing Harry and meeting the rest of his band. I caught myself making scenarios in my head, all of them turning out to be a failure. Knots were tying in my stomach and I was afraid that I would ruin the night. I decided to calm my nerves by taking a nap.

I was awoken by Tahlia who had just walked back into the living room. She had spent an hour and a half getting ready, but she looked great. Her hair was in a side braid, her makeup was done so that it still looked natural, and she had on the outfit she had purchased yesterday.

“Woah, what happened to you?” I asked.

“What do you mean?”

“You’re not ugly anymore!” I joked and ran straight into the bathroom, avoiding whatever she was going to do to me.

I wanted to make myself look presentable in front of Harry and his friends. I spent 45 minutes in a hot, steaming shower. By the time I had gotten out, my fingers were wrinkly. I blew dry my hair, curled it into tight curls, and brushed it so that it would look more wavy. I put on eyeliner and mascara, not wanting to overdo it, and I put my outfit on. I looked myself in the mirror and thought I looked okay. I went back into the living room and Tahlia’s jaw dropped at my sight.

“Will you stop staring at me like that? It’s creeping me out” I said, attempting to cover my entire body with my two small hands. Tahlia just snickered and we made our way into her car. It was now 2 o clock, and the venue was supposed to be 30 minutes away. The car ride was spent listening to music other than One Direction; Tahlia wanted me to be surprised.

When we reached the venue, we flashed our passes to the security guard, who led us in to the boy’s dressing room. There was nobody in the room except for their stylists, Megan and Melanie. Megan was incredibly nice and we had swapped numbers. She had told us that the boys were doing a sound check and that they would be here in about 10 minutes. Melanie, on the other hand, seemed to hate me already. She looked familiar, but I couldn’t put my finger on it. Every time I spoke or laughed, she scoffed. I didn’t like her at all.

Tahlia, Megan, and I ended up swapping numbers. We wanted to keep in contact with one another, seeing that this would be the boy’s last concert for a while. While we were switching phones, Melanie proceeded to leave the room, just as the boys started to come in. I froze.

“Hi, I’m Louis” he said, coming up to me and giving me a kiss on the cheek. The rest of the boys followed, except for Harry. He walked up to me, gave me a hug, and I introduced Tahlia to the guys. I was surprised she hadn’t peed her pants out of excitement yet. We sat down on the couches, Harry taking the seat next to me, with Zayn to my right. Tahlia and the rest of the boys sat on the other couch and on the ground in front of us.

“So, are you girls excited?” Niall asked.

“Yes, you do not know how excited I am!” Tahlia squealed, squirming in her seat. I wanted to hit her in the face; she was so embarrassing.

“Well, we have two hours before the concert. What should we do?” Liam asked.

“Let’s play never have I ever!” Harry suggested.

Everybody seemed to agree, so we all got into a circle on the floor. We put up ten fingers out and we started with Harry.

“Never have I ever turned down a dare” Harry said. All of us, except Harry and Louis, put our fingers down.

“Never have I ever prankcalled the police” I said. Only Louis and Niall put their fingers down.

“Never have I ever fallen down the stairs” Zayn said. I was the only one to put my finger down, causing everybody, but mostly Harry, to laugh. I shot him a death glare and he calmed himself down. We finished going around the circle, with Tahlia, Liam, Niall, and Louis. It was the end of the first round and Liam and I were in the lead. Right before Harry was about to speak again, their manager, Roger, came into the room.

“Hello, ladies” he said.

“Hello” Tahlia and I both said politely.

“Sorry to interrupt, but the concert is about to start in 30 minutes. You ladies should head to your seats now; the boys need to get ready” he instructed.

Tahlia and I nodded, hugging each of the boys, and wished them good luck. We went to our seats which were, shockingly, front row. As soon as we sat down, Tahlia turned to me and said, “Are you excited?”

I nodded, too nervous for words. Tahlia was going on about how each of the boys were so nice and that she wanted to hang out with them, when the lights began to dim.

Harry’s POV:

The boys and I watched them leave the room and then followed Roger to the stage entrance. We were going to come in from beneath the stage. Roger told us to wait there until the concert started, so we talked about Tahlia and Jasmine.

“She seems nice. She was fit, too” Louis said about Jasmine.

“So was her friend” Niall said, Zayn nodding his head next to him.

“So, when are you going to ask her out, mate?” Liam asked.

“I have something planned for later. I’m going to text her and tell her to hang out with us backstage again. Can you guys stay away for a while? Take Tahlia with you too.” I said, pulling out my phone and texting Jasmine.

“Tell her to come over after the concert!” bugged Louis.

“No, I don’t want her to know that we live there yet! I’m going to ask her on a date after the concert and if she says yes, I’m surprising her tomorrow” I said.

“Oh, she’ll say yes” Zayn winked.

I hoped that Zayn was right. Before we could say anything else, Roger came running and was counting down from 5, signaling it was time for us to go up.

We started to rise and, immediately, I began to search for Jasmine.

I found her in the crowd, looking at me, and she winked. She looked beautiful and I could see the excitement in her eyes. Her eyes were mesmerizing and her cheeks were a beautiful rosy shade. Looking at her took away all of my nerves, and I began to sing.

Jasmine’s POV:

Harry found me in the crowd, and I couldn’t help but wink at him. Tahlia noticed, and she nudged me.

Their voices were beautiful; it was no wonder they were set to perform in Madison Square Garden, according to Tahlia. I didn’t know half of the songs they were singing, but it didn’t matter. Even though there were thousands of girls screaming, their voices were the only ones I heard. I watched Harry the entire time, unable to take my eyes off of him.

The concert ended and Tahlia and I were supposed to meet the boys backstage. Tahlia had gone to the bathroom, leaving me wandering around. I accidentally ran into Zayn, and we ended up on the floor laughing.

“I’m assuming you’re lost” he said.

“Err, kinda”.

“Looking for Harry?” he asked with a smirk on his face.

I nodded sheepishly, and Zayn hugged me saying, “I’m just messing with you. Our dressing room is down the hall, make a right and it’s the first door on the left”.

“You’re not coming?”

“Nope, the rest of the boys and I are needed back stage. We’ll join you later. Harry’s already waiting for you, so you should get going”.

“Wait, what about Tahlia?”

“We’ll find her, give me her number”.

“Oh, so you want her number now, huh?” I laughed. I gave him both my number and Tahlia’s, and he went off to find the rest of the boys.

I walked into the dressing room, only to find it pitch black. I turned around, starting to leave the room, when the door shut.

“Harry, if you’re here, I am going to kill y-” The lights turned on, and a beautiful card was on the floor in front of me. How did he manage to pull this off?

I bent over to pick it up and my name was on the front of the card in cursive. I opened it and read, “Roses are red, violets are blue. There’s nothing more I’d like to do, than go on a date with you. If the answer is no, then leave the card on the ground, but if the answer is yes, then I’d like you to turn around”

I was now grinning from cheek to cheek and, without hesitating, I turned around to see Harry holding a bouquet of roses.

“So… yes?” he asked.
