9. The Gryffindor Common Room

I walked in behind McGonagall to see that the second to seventh years had gathered in the common room waiting for the prefects with the first years to arrive. McGonagall slipped me a Gryffindor cloak, most likely used, but I didn't care. For McGonagall to enter the room with me behind, was a surprise for all. I got smiles from Harry and Ginny as they saw me enter the room. The Weasley twins were there as well. Fred grinned and George nudged him with his elbow. The room was decorated with a nice mahogany walls and deep gold coloured picture frames where the paintings actually moved. There were a couple of Gryffindor scarves as well as hats thrown about the place from the welcoming celebration that the Weasley twins had thrown for everybody.

"The first years will be coming in soon, so show Ms..."

"Montgomery." I whispered to Professor McGonagall.

"Show Ms. Montgomery around." She left the common room to check back in with Dumbledore as I slowly turned around to the rest of the people lazily spread across the room.

"So..." I started as I slowly moved closer to the others. Neville moved from where he was sitting so he was sitting straight up and offering me a seat at the same time.

"You don't have a wand, don't you." Hermoine asked as I looked at her.

"No." I said in a small voice. "At least I don't think so," you pat down your pockets of your clothing and then the pockets of the cloak, getting poked with something. You pull it out and turns out that McGonagall had stashed a wand in there as well. This was where your inner fangirl came out. It was SOOO much better than going to the Wizarding World in Orlando. The wand felt just right in my hand as a small smile crept up and found its place on my face.

Hermoine looked at what I pulled out and her eyes widened. "Now, you are probably going to be with me and the Patil twins as well as Lavender Brown," Lavender gave a quick wave from the other side of the room. "I can show you the dormitory now, or we can wait for the rush of the First Years to finish. It's up to you."

"Alright," I nodded as I stole a glance at the fireplace, and I could've sworn that it moved. I looked at it more closely, and moving towards it swearing that it had a face. The first thing that protruded from the fireplace was a pair of glasses that were rested on a familiar face. It was Kieran. I screamed and fell on my butt as I crawled back a little.

"Ryann! Ryann, where are you!?" Kieran called from the fireplace. I inched forward hesitantly, as I looked curiously.

"Kieran? I'm here." I called back, confusion spreading across my face.

"I figured out how to at least get you out of there. No Volde-- uh... erm, I mean He-who-shall-not-be-named attacks yet, right?"

"Not yet," I started, earning weird looks from the entire group of Gryffindor students. "Kieran, you know Pig Latin... right?"

"Yeah of course!" I saw him push up his glasses.

"Then, hey-tay on't-day now-kay bout-aay t-iay." Kieran's expression turned from smug to embarrassed.

"Welp... sorry." he said as I turned around, smiled apologetically and turned back to face Kieran. "Anyway, I'm going to get you out and Jesse outta there, now."

"Wait! Why now? Can't we wai--" I was cut short as I felt a tugging on my shirt as I was forced to lean into the fireplace. I squeezed my eyes shut tight and fell towards what ever was pulling me.

The next thing I knew was I was tumbling out of a bonfire-of-sorts and Jesse was right beside me. I opened my eyes slowly and was faced with the darkness of my own shadow as I looked up. The noise that had been in the background died down almost immediately. I came face to face... more like face to horse-leg with what I thought was a horse. But no... why would it be so simple as a horse. I looked up and looking down at me was a half-man, half-horse creature. A centaur. I am SO screwed. I thought as I made eye contact with the centaur.

"Hey," I said quietly as the centaur stared me down. "I believe that we have some explaining to do. Please don't kill us." Jesse stood up and dusted the dirt off of his butt as I stood up and did the same. "So, I'm gonna assume this is Camp Half-Blood?"

"You assume correct." The centaur answered. "I am Chiron. And we need to talk." He said sternly as he crossed his arms.
