10. chapter 10

~~When I hang up my phone I roll out of my bed and rub my eyes.
Before Audrey called I was researching more about one direction, and again all I saw was articles about niall. I guess the public really loves to humiliate him. One said that he was seen drunk, stumbling on the streets of New Jersey and that yesterday he was seen bringing a girl up to his hotel room. They say he is crumbling under the pressure of fame but I don’t believe that I just think he is trying to act like a typical stuck up celebrity and then he has the nerve to say in an interview,
“I’m like any other normal lad.”
What a lie, he is nothing like me, or any of the people I know. He always has this smirk plastered on his lips. He acts like he does nothing wrong, when he is ruining the reputation of his band and later on in life he is going to regret it so much.
Anyway I put my brown hair into some sort of pony tail if you can call it that; hair was coming out and there were bumps on top of my head. I kept my old warn out gray track pants on and kept on my t shirt that had a band logo on it, that I have never heard of. I shove my feet into socks, then into shoes grab my coat, my mom’s car keys and I’m on my way to the store.
****
I wait in line at the check-out of the store, with the big tub of cookie dough ice-cream in my hands. When it is my turn I place the ice-cream on counter not looking to see who the cashier,
“That will be five dollars.” The voice was all too familiar,
I realize who it is, Lucas.
I look up at him with the money in my hand and give it to him; he looks at me for a second,
“Amelia?” He questions,
 “Hi.” I tell him,
Lucas is a boy in my English class; he has perfect brown hair with light brown eyes that gave you a very warm feeling. We have never really talked before and remembering how I look, I already know we won’t be talking again.
“How are you?” he asks bagging the ice-cream,
“Fine, how about you?” I ask him politely and he smiles that charming sweet smile,
“Really good actually.” He says and I smile.
“If you don’t mind me asking, what’s with the tub of ice-cream?” he asks,
“I’m heading to Audrey’s. I figured I would buy ice cream because, you know what’s better than ice cream?” I state trying to make a joke but fail miserably,
He smiles “um this may be just a tad cliché but would I be able to get your number?” he asks and a small smile appears on my face,
“Sure.” I say and he passes me a pen and sticks out his hand,
“You want me to write my number on your hand?” I question he nods,
“Well I have no paper so this can work.” He says and I scribble down my number on his hand.
I grab the plastic bag that has the ice cream in it,
“Well I will see you soon.” I say, he nods.
I make my way to the car and begin the drive to Audrey’s.
 ****
I knock on Audrey’s front door and her mom answers,
“Amelia, come in! Audrey’s up in her room.” She greets and I smile,
“Thanks. Would I be able to have two spoons please?” I ask and her mum nods
She walks to the kitchen with me following her. She hands me two spoons and I smile,
 “Thank you.” I say.
I make my way up to Audrey’s room and open the door to see Audrey sitting on the floor with her back leaning against the wall.
“You know there’s a bed right there.” I tell her pointing to her bed and she looks at me,
“Of course I didn’t.” she says sarcastically and I roll my eyes,
“No need for your sarcasm.” I tell her and she looks up.
I sigh, walking over to her with the ice cream and I hand it to her,
“Here you go. I have heard ice cream does the trick for almost about anything.” I say attempting to comfort her but I’m not very good at it.
 She takes the ice cream,
“Thanks.” She states and I smile,
“Is it too soon to ask what happened?” I ask and she nods.
“Well even though I don’t know what happened, I already know you’re going to get through this and find another boy who will do anything for you.” I say and she looks at me,
Her brown eyes are puffy and red, she has been crying,
“I know, but I can’t even describe how I am feeling right now.” She sighs and I pat her on the back,
“I would say I know how you feel but I really don’t.” I tell her, she slightly smiles,
“You will one day.” She states opening the ice cream and shoving a scoop in her mouth.
“Is the ice-cream helping?” I ask and she nods her head.
I give her an awkward hug.
“Just remember soon we will be traveling the world with all our friends and josh is going to be stuck here.” I remind her and she smiles,
“That will be the life.” She smiles slightly.
“Now where’s your laptop, time to watch some cheesy romantic movies.” I say with excitement and she laughs a bit and points to her desk.
I stand up and grab the laptop and sit down again next to her turning it on. I put in the movie,
“The last song.” When the sappy parts came on Audrey laughed,
“Look at you two, so happy and you probably feel like everything’s perfect and nothing will go wrong.” she pauses for a few seconds,
“But you’re an idiot for believing in love because later on in life he’s going to tell you, he has a girlfriend. Actually no let me rephrase that you’re going to figure out he has another girlfriend that he lives with, and you being the idiot you are is going to crawl to his house, praying its all some sick joke but you’re wrong.” She finishes and bursts into tears and sobs.
“Audrey come on, it’s alright.” I tell her,
“Why can’t I live in a fairy tale where I find the prince and he doesn’t betray me?” she asks,
“You will, I promise and you don’t need him anymore alright? He’s not worth your tears.” I tell her and she rubs at her eyes,
 “It hurts.” She sighs,
“It feels like I’m wounded.” She adds
“We’ll all wounds heal.” I say and she takes three deep breaths.
“I’m sorry for that whole dramatic scene.” She says,
“It feels good to get it out of my system.” She says,
“I’m glad. Now let’s just make fun of the rest of this movie, shall we?” I question and she nods.
We spend the rest of the night watching these sorts of movies and when midnight comes, my eyes shut and sleep takes over.
