6. The Gamemakers and Score

"Edward Cullen." My name was called. I stepped into the session room. Time to prove myself. I stepped in front of the Gamemakers balcony and said "Edward Cullen." They nodded, watching in anticipation. I picked up the set of knifes that had been resting on a rack. I fingered one, thoughtfully, then went and stood in front of a target. I threw a knife. It hits the arm of the dummy. I heard laughter behind me but I didn't turn around. I tried again- this time my aim was true. The knife hit the target just over the dummy's heart. I heard a few claps.  I went to the snare station and set up a couple of difficult snares. I turned and looked at the Gamemakers. A few were nodding, but the rest were talking about something, completely irrelevant to what was going on. I didn't lose my head. I just said calmly. "Can you all watch this please?" That got their attention. Making sure all their eyes were on me, I went over to the weights section. The heaviest was about 200 pounds. I picked it up easily and hurled it at one of the dummies. Silence. "Is that all, Mr. Cullen?" I nodded. "Dismissed" I turned and walked out of the room. Now all I needed to worry about now was my score.

I sat in the District 7 lounge, watching the scores on the wide-screen TV, with Bella, Damon and Stefan. District One, Jacob got a 10. So did all the other careers. The other Districts blurred together, I didn't remember anyone's scores. When District 7 flashed across the screen, I basically stopped breathing. Bella received a 7. Stefan reassured he would help prepare her even more. Then it was my turn. My eyes locked to the screen. I saw my name, and next to it... next to it...

"Still, you could have done better, but a 10? That probably wiped the smile off the other districts faces!" Damon crowed. "Tomorrow is your last chance to make an impression on all the sponsors."

Yeah. Tomorrow's the live television show with Isaiah Original. Good Luck to me and may the odds be ever in my favor.
